I always use these, they are good for the shop tinkerer and people with small projects

I used this to finally organize all my miscellaneous nuts and bolts into my storage bin. Hangs on my work bench so it is handy and makes going to the hardware store easy as I know what to buy.

This is the most complete set that is available anywere. Not the cheapest for this set, but convenient for buying on Amazon. The markings on each thread checker are great, and the 2 different colors for SAE and metric make them easy to distinguish. The steel cable these are attached to makes use problematic. It is well over a yard long and unwieldly. No good. So I took a small wood box from a crafts store, took the set off the cable, and drilled holes in a base I made inside the box to hold them (wood or construction foam works well for this). You know each size, so just use a corresponding drill bit size to do that. Much faster to use that way as you only handle one checker size at a time. You can also visually see the sizes easier to match up your expected size.

If you are like me and always searching for the right nut or bolt for a project, this is a great item to have. I can readily sort most imperial bolts and nuts, but the metric ones that are close in size to the imperial units always have me guessing. This handy thread checker allows me to test and confirm which size I need, reducing my back and forth trips. With everything on a wire rope, I cannot lose one at all. It covers the common sizes up yo 1/2" / M12 diameters. The only negative comment is that the text used for identification of the threads of each tester is a bit hard to read. Could have been stamped in or use thicker text width during the laser marking.

Don't know how I lived without this bolt and nut size checker. This thing is great. Don't have to guess at bolt or nut thread size.

Hey, I've wanted something like this for over 50 years! Could have saved me hours of time matching bolt and screw threads. Metric and Standard!

The metal string is a nice addition to keep from losing these but I almost wanted to cut them off. Was trying to find the thread size to a factory bolt on my ATV in a very small area and the string was hindering me from trying to find the right size. Maybe have one string for the metric side and one for the SAE, would be a little easier to handle. Finding bolt sizes standing over a workbench/out in the open was super easy, so I'm not going to take any stars off for trying to use this in a confined space. I did quickly find out a lot of cheap chinese metric bolts aren't all the same size (bolts for tv mounts). Some M6 bolts were loose, others were spot on, for instance. I threw away the loose bolts. Will be super useful when I organize misc bolts/screws into storage bins. As with anything time will tell if these dies are accurate. The handful of sizes of bolts/nuts I tried seemed like they were fitting in the right size pieces. Has already paid for itself with my ATV. I should have bought this long time ago. Update-July 2022: Been hanging in my garage for almost a year now. I see there is now rust forming on the black pieces, around the edges and where the text is engraved. I've only used them a dozen times, guess I'll have to get out some WD and give them a scrub. No rust on the silver items.

I have never been the one who can look at a bolt or screw and know what size it is by sight. I just dont work with them on a daily basis. I was organizing my garage and found this useful to separate screws and bolts. We are also restoring a Jeep and this came in handy to size screws and bolts for replacement. The markings are a little hard to read with my old eyes, but a sharpie and a rag with alcohol helped fix this problem.
