He loves it, but I have modified the game a bit to account for his age. For instance, we play his turns together, which means there's less strategy since I know exactly what routes he's trying to travel. The ticket cards have icons on them representing the cities, so that helps a lot, since he cannot read yet, but he can match the images on the cards to those on the board. Overall, I'd say this is a stretch board game for a 3 year old, but totally possible. It helps that my toddler loves trains, so this game holds his attention. **Q: Is this too young for a child turning 10?** A: Yes. I bought this as a Christmas present for my daughter last year (when she was 9), b/c she was hesitant to try "real" Ticket to Ride. We played this "Junior" version exactly ONCE. The "light went on" for my 9-year-old, as I suggested there really wasn't that much more "complication" in the "real" TtR. She then tried TtR, and loved it. We have all the expansions, etc., and play it regularly--and she beats me most of the time . . . ! So after playing the "Junior" version ONCE--we took it to McKay's (used books & games, etc.) and sold it. My advice is, if your child is "turning 10"--then go ahead and get the "regular" Ticket to Ride; I definitely recommend the "1910" expansion as well, particularly to get the "full-size" train cards. It was same concept as ticket to ride so it was easy. The quality was great just like the original.
