these make a solid rail to frame connection, i would recommend 6/4 stock back drilled with a dowel. Each one needed a little fitting to lock up tight but over all great product, tight fit

I purchased the set as a replacement for the ones destroyed on an oak bed frame. Comparing the two, the Platte River hardware was much thicker and very well made compared to the Chinese ones that were on the frame. The plates when mated properly fit extremely well, there is no slop between the two. I would not hesitate to purchase the Platte River set again.

Perfectly replaced broken parts on an old post bed. Easy to install, makes an old bed new again.

The brackets replaced bent versions from my bed. They were basically the same size and depth. No real modification to the bed was needed. No screws included.

Update Review: my original review had these at 5-stars pre-install. However, post-install and after applying weight to these brackets, they were not at all as tight fitting as they were when I first unpacked the brackets. Though the welds did not break (as I initially feared) the weight and force used to press the bracket down into the slot did cause them to give a little... and when a joint is pressed together to maintain stability, every MM counts. I just hope they hold up to my son's bad habit of bed-flopping and acrobatic sleeping behavior. Initial Review: Seemed very solid during install. Nice snug fit, good weight. It did not come with screws, but I'm probably one of the few that, even if the screws were included, I wouldn't trust them anyway and use my own considering I've learned not to trust "included hardware" unless it's a piece of origami furniture with specialty fasteners. The only concern I have is the weld on the backside of the hooks. One set seemed a little giving and considering they are one direction, I fear over time the weight or assembly pressure will cause it the weld break loose... BUT, that's something only time will tell. So for now, I'll give it 5-stars.

After they were installed and shimmed the bed was very sturdy.
