Bold
Tommyland is a wild and entertaining memoir by Tommy Lee. He shares outrageous stories from his rockstar life with Mötley Crüe, along with personal struggles and lessons learned along the way. The book is bold, raw, and unapologetically honest. A fun and fascinating read for fans of rock and celebrity memoirs! 🎸🔥

Loved it!
I have been a HUGE Motley fan for 40+ years. Still my favorite band to this day. Their music has got me through some rough times. So when I saw this book I had to read it. I loved it. Tommy's life has been a rollercoaster ride. I enjoyed reading it. I like how he put in footnotes to explain things a little further. Tommy is a kind hearted soul. I highly recommend any fan to read this book.

Hey Dude - Whatever...
For the most part I liked the book. He and his ghostwriter wrote chapters and then stuck them in a book basically which is OK, but sort of rambly. I will say it was a cute format though and I enjoyed that his "dick" stuck in his two cents all the time. (You will have to read the book to see how he did that.) Here is what I got out of the book. His 7 year marriage ended to Heather because she didn't want to have kids yet and he did so he went to a porno shoot site and let a porno girl give him a BJ. Heather finds out within a few hours that he did this and the marriage is over. What a waste and who would do that to Heather? I am sure she would have wanted to have kids down the road. Count this as his first time to shoot himself in the foot. With Pamela, he gets a bit rough with her over nothing really and pushes her in the hiney with his foot while she is holding their 4 month old son and then he proceeds to shove her and the baby hits it's head on a blackboard. Not cool and the second shooting of his foot. And of course his engagement with Mayte, Prince's ex-wife, ends because he really isn't ready to get married again and she wants a baby and he doesn't because he has 2 kids by Pamela. I don't know whose foot is shot here - Mayte's or Tommy's. She is probably better off that she didn't marry him. He talks a lot about his jail time and it seems this was his Crying Time as he did a lot of that while in jail. He talks about his parents a lot - he loves them dearly (his father passed away in 2001) and that is nice to know. And last, above all, do NOT disturb him if you see him out in public. There are several pages towards the end of the book that says over and over - don't bother me if I am with my kids or eating or laying on the beach in Bora Bora or wherever. He loves his fans but does not want to deal with them anymore nor listen to their stories of how his music changed their lives. This is one lady that Tommy will not have to worry about because if I saw Tommy drowning or about to fall off a cliff I would just let him because God forbid I say hi to him and that I like his music. I have always thought of Tommy as a good looking, sexy guy and the best of the best of drummers. I just know I don't want to meet him anymore. His book is not bad - it could have had a little more detail on his marriages and he didn't mention Bobbie Brown at all, but it is still a readable book. I liked Dirt better. But again - if you are a Tommy fan you will like the book.

Just thoughts, man, just thoughts
First of all that is a straight five-star read. Why? Because those are just one person's thoughts on the life he's lived, and other stuff. Makes sense to either agree or disagree. It's all in the disclaimer, so just give it a quick look before either committing to the story, or walking away. I do have a habit of judging books by either the aftertaste they leave, or the amount of fun I had while reading them. This is by far one of the most fun reads, and I it's amazing, because there are no underdeveloped characters, most of the events are surreal, and overall it was a read worth spending 2 days on (and some bucks). So, if you decide to read it, get used to the fact that sometimes you would think "there it is, you said it, so true", and sometimes you would shake your head no, but you might learn something. It's also partly a more simple, not overdramatic look at the same events from the Dirt, and Heroin Diaries. Anyway, apparently it's time to move on to next autobiography).

Short, bipolar and random, good for Motley fans
Keep in mind I just finished "I Am Ozzy" before reading this book.... Anyways overall pretty good book. Was a child of the 80's, so was into the Crue as a kid so was really up for reading this book. Like: No BS, to the point on everything, every story, every discussion, everything. Gets to the details on all those things you "heard about" through the news and tabloids growing up. Photos, although few, were intesting to see because it puts pics with the stories he's telling. Didn't Like: His constant obsession with his penis. Yes Tommy, we know it's gigantic, but he actually has his penis speaking parts of the story. The prologue is actually "written" by his penis too. That started annoying in the beginning and continued to be annoying until the end. Also didn't like the organization of the book, its very bipolar and random. It follows a semi-chronological time line, but jumps around...alot. That aside, it's a good read, he seems like a good guy in the end and if you like the Crue, you'll like the stories.

Loved this Book
After reading, 'The Dirt', you still feel dirty. So where can you continue to hear about the bad boys of rock? A great start is 'Tommyland.' I work a 9-5, walk in a straight line, pay my bills, and repeat. It makes me happy that I can read about amazing circumstances which propel regular people to the pinnacle of success and how they handle it. All I can say is that each of the Motley Crue band members are soldiers who have continued to do all the things an average man wished he could do. Most men would be dead one year in. These guys did the job for the average man, so we could live vicariously through their exploits. At the end of the day, they were so-so musicians who honed their skills into an incredible blues riffed soundtrack to our lives. I say buy the book.

I really loved this book: it is very easy to read (though don't let that influence you into thinking that it isn't any good), full of interesting stories and also Tommy's musings on various subjects. Best thing about this book is that it is written in a style that makes it seem as if Tommy is sitting in the room next to you telling you all of this personally - it seems Bozza (co-writer) is very talented at what he does, as I have read other work involving him and it has a similar style. There are moments that make you laugh out loud, some that make you cry (seriously!) and some very profound thoughts on the world. DEFINITELY well worth a read.
