desertcart.com: Noragami: Stray God 1: 9781612629063: Adachitoka: Books Review: Good series. Great premise, well written and beautiful art. - This review is for the current 23 books in the series. It’s well done, with a fresh spin on the tale of a human getting involved in the world of the gods. The way the relationships between the gods and their shinki (regalia) are portrayed allows for an entirely different and far more complex dynamic than is usually seen. Yato, as gods usually are, is a character of contradictions and resistant to change despite truly wanting to. Hyiori is surprisingly emotionally level headed for how many high school girls are portrayed, but weirdly accepting of a lot of things. Perhaps later in the story there is a reason for that as it seems many things have many meanings behind them in this series. I intend to watch the anime next. Review: I posted the answers to those questions like 'Which of these words best describes the mood - Wow, I posted the answers to those questions like 'Which of these words best describes the mood?' about this book and, really, NONE of the answers fit. Noragami is light-hearted, dark, moody, insightful, action packed, cute, angsty and suspenseful all at the same time! It's got a great story (as long as the mangaka keeps it up) and the MOST incredible artwork I've seen! I love realistically drawn manga, and this mangaka has human (and diety) anatomy down perfectly! They must have the best models, because the figures are perfectly proportioned, credible and HOT! The men look male, but not unrealistically buff and the females look female without being too cutesy and looking like chibis. Seriously, for the artwork alone I would buy this manga, but it's way more than just art. This is an awesome series that I hope keeps on as strong as it started all the way until it is finished.

Gorgeous artwork and a great story
Beautiful artwork, well-drawn characters, lots of humor, and a unique take on the underdog in a shounen manga, Noragami's first volume is fantastic. Yato is a good-for-nothing god trying to get followers so that he can have his own shrine. Hiyori is a girl who should have died when she was hit by a bus. Instead, she's become a living ayakashi, walking the land between two worlds while Yato figures out a way to help her. Kodansha's translation not only provides some great dialogue, but also takes the time to explain (in a well-written section at the end) some of the subtleties that an English translation doesn't convey. For readers who love the action of shounen but also want something a little more realistic when it comes to relationships (with the hint of a possible romance), I highly recommend trying Noragami.

Good start
~4/5 I almost started the anime of this series, but then decided that I wanted to go in with a clean slate. I wanted to be surprised by whatever this book gave me. And I’m glad I did, just as I’m happy about how much I enjoyed it. Yato a God, only he’s trying to become well-known. He loses his assistant, doesn’t have a home, and is very slowly earning money from the people who call him for help. Most people can’t see him unless they’re desperate, nor can they see the ghosts and demons he gets rid of. Then he meets Hiyori, a school girl whose spirit keeps getting separated from her body, and ends up trying to help Yato (trying because Yato doesn’t really want her to). I’m glad I didn’t really know what I was getting when I started this, because I liked it being a surprise. I think it made it easier to enjoy it. And I really liked this, and am really excited to see what happens next. We met a new character at the end of the book, said goodbye to two characters at the beginning of the book. Yato is humorous, and I really like Hiyori. She’s new to the world of demons, and freaking out a bit. The way she keeps losing her body is hilarious. I can already tell that I’m going to enjoy the humor in this series, and I’m already liking the characters. The artwork is very pretty, as well. I can’t wait to read more. absolutely fantastic
I loved the anime and I love the manga. It is such a cute story. The art difference (between the manga and anime) is the only thing that I, wouldn’t complain about (because it is amazing) but- it is just there and should be noted. It is amazing and you should read it! The story is fantastic. (And it’s a manga so read the opposite of American comics

Good book!
This manga is one of my favorites the only downside is the quality of the cover for the manga is not the best. It’s like a thing paper and it tears very easily. It’s hard to find a good quality cover for these mangas. Would recommend this series to everyone though.

Love everything about this
I love the story building and character development. I know it's the first book but I have watched the animation and know the manga will be even better. Really brilliant.

You can see from the ending credits that the artists are really talented at their work. From the first chapter you can see that this manga has a clear theme of mental health and sum such. It’s a great work and I can’t wait to read more

I bought this volume of Noragami on my kindle after watching the anime, and I love itttttt!!! The only thing that I didn’t like was the price. if I’m not purchasing a real copy I think the cost should be smaller, but no stars taken off, I love the artstyle and story!
