I bought this mattress protector as a more budget-friendly alternative to a bamboo one, mainly because we needed several protectors in rotation due to increased washing with a baby in the house. For that purpose, it’s been a sensible and practical buy. It does what you want a basic waterproof protector to do. It fits the mattress well, stays in place, and provides reliable protection from leaks and spills during night feeds and nappy changes. Once it’s on and covered with a fitted sheet, it’s perfectly comfortable for everyday use, even if it doesn’t have the same soft, premium feel you get from bamboo-based options. Noise levels are reasonable. It’s not completely silent, but it’s far from the worst - there’s a slight rustle when moving around, though nothing that’s woken us up or felt distracting. Given the price point, that feels like a fair trade-off. It’s also held up well in the wash so far. We’ve washed it frequently at standard temperatures and it’s kept its shape, with no obvious shrinking or deterioration. That’s been important as it’s been through the machine far more often than a typical mattress protector would. I bought the Caroline Shatuik Waterproof Mattress Protector for our king-size bed, and it’s been a great purchase. The 40cm extra deep skirt fits our thick mattress perfectly, no tugging or adjusting needed, and it stays securely in place all night. What I really love is that it’s truly waterproof but not noisy at all, no crinkly sounds like you get with some protectors. You wouldn’t even know it’s there, which makes a big difference for sleep comfort. The top is soft to the touch, and it doesn’t make the bed feel hot or sweaty. The product itself seems fine on first inspection, it’s soft to touch etc, but it’s not a great fit on a super king bed, where it’s already hard to put on a large and heavy mattress by a single person and then smooth out so it doesn’t wrinkle under fitted sheets. It fits okay across the width of the bed but not from head to toe - there’s not enough material to go under the mattress and allow it to fit properly. There were (and continue to be each time) a few swear words used in the process of trying to get it to fit. It also requires constant refitting on the mattress after use as it wrinkles and bunches up during usage because it doesn’t fit properly from head to toe. Really irritating to be honest as it means stripping off fitted sheets to reposition this protector before then adding the fitted sheets again and then throwing on a duvet. On a very large bed you don’t need this daily hassle. You can’t just pull everything tight and smooth out the under duvet layers because you have to lift the mattress (and in my case a super king size one) and pull this protector back in place first. It’s a shame because it’s actually comfy when you lie on it. So I’d recommend for smaller beds, unless of course the head to toe material is insufficient too, in which case, you’ll have the same problem of having to constantly strip the bed to refit the protector cover after each sleep on it usage. If the manufacturer addresses the head to toe more material needed problem, it would be great. And all this is said, without knowing if it actually works in protecting an actual mattress from menstrual or urine “accidents” - not got to that point. I only hope so after all the extra hassle it is causing every day when trying to remake the bed after sleeping.
