Is the shaker compartment large enough to hold a shaker larger than the one that comes in the kit?

Yes, I put 2 different sized in mine, plus polish towels

Can you hang this thing up on a hook and use it or does it only lay out ?

Proper cocktails

I am the bartender when we get together with friends. On trips and otherwise. When I am home I have my tools. But when traveling it was hard to pack it all up. This will fit nicely in my suitcase with no preparation. Love this. Bought two. One for a gift for a friend! Love it!
