This jacket has protected me from any burns while doing stick welding. Its quite heavy which could leave my back feeling a little bit sore after staying in certain positions for too long but I like the premium material over cloth jackets as my classmates have complained about those ones getting holes too quickly and getting their skin burned. Be mindful of this, the dye from this jacket will slightly stain lighter colored clothes so make sure to not wear white or light colored shirts under the jacket.

If you just want to buy a cowhide jacket for welding and this seems like the most affordable, I would go for it. I think it would be a good idea to get this in your normal size, though. I got this jacket because I was getting burned a lot with Coreflux 4f and 4g (overhead). I was going to start with stick welding soon after, so I just wanted to be ready with something that was more durable than cotton. I ended up getting this jacket as an X-large. I usually wear a Large, but I didn't want to have to return it and order it again if the size Large fit too small. When it got here and I tried it I realized I should've just gone with the large, but I was still able to use this one with little to no problems. - It works fairly well. It was and still is very durable. - There is a slight chemical smell. I tried to wash it with some dish soap and laundry detergent and let it air dry outside to get rid of the smell, and it helped a little bit. After some time welding the smell goes away. - It does feel comfortable, but it is a little bit heavy. You should be expecting that with any type of cowhide jacket, though.
