Is the back of the pillow truly flat enough to not feel like the neck is being pushed forward? The picture looks like it's not that flat.

Yes it is very comfortable and does not push my neck forward.

Has anyone tried this and the turtl? which did you prefer?

I've tried them both. I found the Turtl incredibly rigid, uncomfortable and reluctant to stay in the position I placed it. I returned it. Don't like BCOZZY much either - feels like I'm being softly strangled - but at least it's more tolerable than Turtl. Not sure whether to keep the BCOZZY or not. For years I've been a huge fan of Releaf Neck Support, but it's now manufactured with a material that doesn't breathe so quickly gets uncomfortably warm. BCOZZY does at least seem to breathe, which is important on long overseas flights.
