TPRC Sierra Madre Duffel Bag, Black, 36" Rolling

Very nice bag and as described. appears to be of good durability for "part time" use. Not sure it would hold up well for the full time, constantly loading and unloading worker/traveler. As an older couple I found the size larger than I expected, probably, in hind site, would have ordered the next smaller size for the 2 of us on weekend trips. Otherwise, great purchase.

This is the second time I've purchased one of these bags. The first time I got two of them and they have lasted for several trips. My husband and I use the bottom section for our scuba/diving gear and the top for clothes and everything else. Very convenient and you can haul a lot of stuff! Granted, it's not the sturdiest bag if you need it to last for regular/frequent travel but it's great for once or twice a year vacation. The bag I replaced cracked along the undercarriage where the wheels attach. I was able to duct tape it and it is still functional, but I've had it for a few years so I figured I might as well get a new one because it's not that expensive. It's about time to retire my husband's first duffel because of the wheels, too, and I'll definitely get him another one of these!

I put this bag through it's paces last roller derby season. The size is perfect for skates, helmet and derby kit. It's got rolly-wheels so it's easy on my back. The price is right, but you get what you pay for. It's not made for heavy duty abuse, but it can work just fine if you're easy on your equipment. I am generally a klutz and not gentle with my stuff, so once I stepped on the retractable handle, bent it and made that janky. A buddie's pup made a chew toy out of the zipper and now the zipper is busted. I left it on the porch and rain got into the wheels so now they're gummed up. I rolled it on a ramp that had a carpet, and the friction of the fabric rubbing on the carpet melted little "cigarette burns" into the bottom. Is it the bag's fault that I've destroyed it? Hardly. But it's worth mentioning in case durability is on your list of needs.

I bought this and really liked the size and the fact that it was a roller duffle bag. I used it on a cruise for me and my 2 kids. Total weight = 52 lbs. Wheels began to bend (see pic of minor bending with minor pressure from my foot pushing it down) after a few hundred feet and I could hear the bottom scraping (see damage in pic), so I had to pick the thing up and carry it. Super disappointed. I brought it home and decided to fix it and maybe the manufacturer will take a look at these mods and fix their design because it could be a great product. Here are some pics for anyone who chooses to buy it and wants to prevent it from failing in the middle of their vacation. 11" - 1x2 piece of wood to fit snug between the wheel housings (see pic). 12 - 1/2" self drilling screws with washers for the rails on the bottom to hold the weight of the fabric to the bottom rails (see pic). 4 - 1" self drilling screws with washers to hold the two plastic wheel housings to the 1x2 and the middle of the underbelly when on rollers to be firm to the 1x2 to prevent it from dragging or bending (see pic). Now, it wont drag or bend at all with the same weight in it. I bet it would hold 100lbs. :) If this is not worth your time, don't buy if you expect more than 40lbs or return it when it fails. Solid bag! I prefer these soft sided duffel style bags for some reason. It survived two weeks in Italy with numerous flights and changes of planes, and 5 or 6 train journeys unscathed. Only wear is on end where it dragged a bit when rolling, which could be my fault or overfilling it. I thought it was undersized until I discovered the bottom compartment which held a ton of stuff. My bag weighed in at the airport at 35 pounds. No complaints.

Excellent product. Totally different than others in its price point- nice thick fabric, sturdy zippers, and plenty of storage. This has the quality of a $100 bag or more.

I bought the 21" for traveling to Ireland. It was perfect size for all flights, and held all my items for 10 days of travel. Yes, thats correct, I had that bag and my personal item. Used it two years later for a 12 day trip to New Zealand and Australia. I have two small complaints, yes it does wobble if you need to run through the airpirt. The other is, the stitching is coming undone at the zipper. Mind you, I have used it consistently in my travels for 2.5 years. I think its held up. Ill take it to have the stitching repaired.
