Family fun - lots of laughs!
I bought Ransom Notes for family game nights, and it's been a great addition to our collection. My kids absolutely loved creating silly sentences with the word magnets. How It Works: Players use word magnets to answer prompts by creating ransom note-style responses. The limitation of available words forces creative (and often hilarious) solutions. It's simple enough that everyone grasps it immediately. Family Appeal: This worked brilliantly across different ages in our household. The kids enjoyed the silliness and freedom to be creative, while the adults appreciated the clever wordplay and unexpected combinations that emerged. Everyone was laughing, which is really all you want from a family game. Replayability: With different word magnets each round and various prompts, games feel fresh each time we play. We've brought it out multiple times since purchasing, and it hasn't gotten stale yet. Player Count: Works well with 3+ players as advertised. We've played with anywhere from 4 to 7 people, and it's been engaging at all group sizes. The more players, the more variety in responses. Easy to Understand: No complicated rules to learn or teach. Set up is quick, explanations take minutes, and you're playing almost immediately. Perfect for when you just want to jump into something fun without lengthy instructions. Quality: The magnets are decent quality and the board works well. Everything feels sturdy enough to withstand regular family use, including enthusiastic kids handling the pieces. The Laughter Factor: Watching my kids craft absurd sentences within the constraints of the available words was genuinely entertaining. There's something about the limitation that brings out creativity and humor in unexpected ways. Overall: A genuinely fun party game that delivered family entertainment and lots of laughs. If you want something lighthearted that gets everyone involved and giggling, this is an excellent choice. My kids keep asking to play it again, which is the best recommendation I can give.

Easy to play and endlessly entertaining. We cried with laughter at some of the answers
I bought this for my husband for Christmas and I can’t tell you how much we love it! We’ve played it every day with various family and visitors (including two teenagers who absolutely love it too!). Some of the answers have been hilarious. A couple of the cards are a bit risqué for the teenagers but we just pick another card and carry on. I’d highly recommend this game, it’s glorious. It’s so easy to get the hang of and is endlessly entertaining.

Yes, you can play with kids - with a bit of work first!
Well this is great! So much fun. If you're thinking of buying it for a family game to play with kids, you can! I did. Though based on other reviews I was aware it might not be suitable. However I just made sure to remove any unsuitable cards and magnetic words before use. Please note, this will mean removing about a third, if not a bit more, of the cards! And quite a few magnetic words. A lot of them are VERY unsuitable for young kids (mine were 11 at the time of purchase and first play). To be honest, a lot of them I wouldn't want to use with my kids at any age - even if they were adults! Just a bit too rude and embarrassing for all! So, lots of the cards and magnetic words need removing, but you're still left with loads of suitable cards and words to play with. More than enough. You could also make up you own cards. We have been in stitches, crying with laughter playing this. It really is a great family game (once unsuitable cards and words removed), though I'd say maybe for age 10+. And you do need to have a certain level of silly humour. I removed a star because I feel there's no need for such inappropriate cards to be in a game. And I do think the company should make a family friendly version from the off. That would be great! Otherwise, defo recommended for easy fun on a family game night, if you're willing to spend the time sitting pulling all the inappropriate stuff out before showing it to your kids.

Fun game with friends and family
Really fun game to play with friends and family, had hours of fun on Christmas Day. It is easy to use as you can use just a few words to describe situation (which can be equally funny!), although fuller sentences tend to more entertaining.

Cracking fun for friends and family
The premise is fantastic. The execution is slightly wonky but we made 2 dead simple modifications and had an absolute whale of a time: 1. Use the "Party Gamer" alternate rules - it is so easy to play compared to the default rules. It avoids weird things like the judge being able to vote for their own entry. It is dead simple to follow the Party Gamer rules, as it is structured almost exactly like Cards Against Humanity. 2. Give players more time. The game suggests 60-90 seconds. We found 2 minutes to be just right to create tension while allowing people to craft some fantastically funny prompts.

HIL-A-RI-OUS!!!
Had the room howling with laughter. In all the decades of Christmas Day board games, nothing has come close to the addictive hilarity of Ransom Notes. It does take 30 mins for first time set up and arranging the words felt like a chore, but boy was it worth it. On simple appearances, the concept looked fairly ordinary, but straight off the first round we soon realised the simple or complex depths of childish and risqué solutions our minds could descend to. We thought digging through all these words would be slow and frustrating, but we set a timer for 2 minutes and the scurrying for the best or most random solution was brilliant under pressure, then, omg, the reading of the results had us on the floor. We could barely speak for laughing. You can obviously remove some words to keep it clean, but we honestly had no idea how 'wrong' the solutions could go. It's Card Against Humanity ADHD. Much more interactive and the results reduced us to tears. We almost didn't play it and it was an afterthought after a full night of gaming. The box and name didn't fill us with any interest so no one noticed it. It ended up the runaway success of the night taking us beyond 2am and we left it out ready for boxing day. Full version is not for polite company, but you can remove words as you need. There's no swear words as such, but there are a thousand childish routes your depraved minds can sink to with some key naughty words. Absolutely brilliant. Box and marketing design needs a more sophisticated edge to gather more instant appeal, but the game is brilliant, dumb nonsense and we loved it.

Fabulous get it!
Bought this on a whim! Brilliant! Great compact fun game for all the family & friends. It was a very easy game to get grips off. Played it with family & friends. Pros: had us laughing and very amusing sentences I’m dyslexic and found it fun. Cons: none really, the magnets are little so for some maybe hard to handle. We are looking forward to using it at Christmas.

Just okay, not as hilarious as social media wants you to believe
If you’re like me you’ve come to the review section from social media to check out whether it’s as fun as they say. And most reviews say it is, and so I succumbed. And it is fun. Ish. Maybe I’m hard-to-please, or a bit jaded, but the novelty of making syntax-defunct, occasionally risqué sentences quickly wears thin, and I didn’t find myself more than tittering (and/or groaning) at my own or any other players’ responses. My tween kids did belly laugh, but then they were high on the intoxicating naughtiness of playing something rated 17+ (the prompts and words we’ve encountered so far haven’t been anything beyond what they’ve heard in the playground IMO, but different families will have different tolerance levels). The little magnetic words and boards work well, but the box spinning to choose the judge is a bit hit-or-miss. Actually the most bonding experience we had as a result of buying this game as a family was separating the sheets of magnetic words (which takes AGES by the way). Some people might truly love this game and find it hilarious, but it was just okay for me. I personally didn’t feel it was worth the money.
