Women in Sports: 50 Fearless Athletes Who Played to Win (Women in Science)

I bought this book for my 11 year old niece who plays competitive basketball, softball and volleyball. It's such an engaging book - with it's inspiring stories about female athletes to the beautifully colored pages and illustrations. I saw other reviews that is was lacking pictures, this isn't a picture book. It's more like short biographies of each athlete. I think if you want that sort of book, you need to choose a subject and do some research where you'll find more imagery. It's well written and also provides little facts about each one as well, pulling you into their story.

Bought this for my 12year old Granddaughter. I did thumb through the book and saw outstanding women in all sports. She’s into soccer and basketball so, even though this book covers more sports, I think she’ll like it.

I really LOVE this book along with the Science variation. Its female-empowering, inspirational, educational, beautifully illustrated, creative, unique and an easy read for a wide age range of kids or anyone for that matter. My daughter's basketball team has a secret Santa gift exchange every year and I was so glad to have found and purchased this book to give. Pair it with a Sports-store gift card and it makes a perfect gift.

Hands down an amazing and perfect book. My kids love it and I enjoy reading it too so much that I gifted copies to all our closest friends with kids and I even donated one to my sons classroom because he always wanted to take it and share it. You don't realize just how many great and varied female athletes there has been over time until you see a healthy selection here in one book...so many women have been breaking barriers even still today!

Niece loves it

This is a great educational book for a young demographic- perhaps grammar school age as a learning textbook! The graphics and illustrations are very well done to engage a young reader to read and learn. Was looking more for a coffee table book with high resolution photographs along with biographies of the 50 greatest women athletes, as a gift to an adult athlete.

My granddaughtwr loves sports and this book thrilled her. She is reading about the many amazing women who have also loved sports.

After making the choice to homeschool my daughter in this 2020-21 school year, I quickly decided to embrace a women's studies approach. I am using all of the books by this author to help engage my 5th grader and introduce new stories to her. She hasn't yet seen the struggle of women to make their place in the world (or at least be acknowledged for it). As wonderful as that is, I want her to understand the growth that has happened and that still needs to continue. We read through a woman a day and do some brief further study (in this case that usually means searching out their sport). When we find someone that really sparks her interest, we tackle a more in depth study of the woman, her life, her sport, and her journey. I love all the books by this author!

Das Geschenk kam sehr gut an. Es ging an ein Mädchen, die sehr gerne Sport macht. leider gibt es da nicht genug Bücher, Ressourcen, Poster usw - da habe ich mich total gefreut, diese Buch zu finden. Für Mädchen, aber kein kitschiges rosa, seriös und wunderhübsch!

Got this (along with the science one) as a gift for my 10 y.o. niece and she really enjoys the stories and art. Great books to inspire and provide positive role models for young girls.

Some really impressive stories that will grip your children, regardless of whether they're boys or girls. Ideal bedtime stories. Interesting back stories to each athlete.
