The reason I bought these is because I have the other flat disk type gliders and those are horrible to use on carpet. I bought these gliding disks as they are bigger and a bit dished. The work 100 times better. Your foot stays on the disc, and it slides nice on the carpet. These are definitely Worth the extra money.
