So many give this ultra light rod a bad rap...it has the most back bone of any little rod I have ever seen. I live on the gulf coast and I don't use large tackle. Using ultra light tackle is a challenge for some but It is a reality for me down here. If you truly want to learn how to fish throw away those great big surf kind of rods and really learn how to fish. Awesome Rod with very strong back bone. When I took it out of the case I thought, oh wow...smallest diameter rod I have ever used. Fished to day after all these cold fronts, and did manage to land a 24" Red today. The Large fish in the Picture was a 28" speckled trout. No problem. I recommend this little rod and will most likely will buy another one to replace some of my other rods. I have been fishing with it for months now and I love it.

Love this lightweight trout rod. Super sensitive action, extremely well made, would not hesitate to purchase this brand in the future.

This fishing rod is not an ultralight. I would say it is on the light action and not ultralight because of the thickness of the rod. Only the 1st half of it is thin and the other half has the thicker material. I would still prefer the uglystik brand compare to this not known brand. The price of this should be below $20 for the rod. For combo this should be below $30 in my opinion. I will still recommend it for newbie in fishing game though.
