So easy to install โ created a โWOWโ factor to kitchen lighting!
There is so many good things about this under cabinet lighting system! I purchased two sets of these lights and set out to add better lighting to our kitchen cabinets. The lights themselves have a sturdy aluminum housing and ultra-slim design. For my application โ I used the plugin for the over the stove microwave oven to power these two lighting systems. By drilling holes through cabinets, I was able to install and power these lights without using valuable counter outlets, and, best of all, eliminate visible wirings along the counter backsplashes. Took a little time to complete this type of installation but well worth that extra effort! Quality, quality, quality โ all lighting fixture and wire clips contains 3M adhesives that secured the lights and cables under the counter. Little screws are also provided the clips; however, I did not use the supplied screws because the 3M adhesives held everything firmly in place! We went with the warm white light kits โ there are other color temperatures also available for this product. The motion sensor for these lights works great and there are 10 dimmable brightness levels to give the perfect glow to any space. These lights were installed without using tools except for a drill to run wires through the interior of the kitchen cabinets. The lights are so easy to install and truly added the โWOWโ effect we were looking for in the kitchen. No more dark countertops during kitchen prep. Also, these lights automatically turn off after 3 hours if left on for extended periods. 5-Stars all around!

really nice light system
B&D has really thought out what a good under cabinet light system should be. This system is high quality and has the right components for most kitchen cab installations. The light quality is good and amazingly even across the counter space. The 9" lights are more than adequate ( I was worried a bit about this). It is easy to install for a simple in line arrangement, or for a split arrangement where the sensor is central, and the lights go in both directions from there. There are enough cables included to do many possible kitchen layouts, without having to buy additional parts. I installed mine with a split arrangement, and only had to drill about 4 holes to hide all the cable. It is possible to drill no holes and still hide the cable, but you will need to tuck excess cabling in every nook and cranny you can find. And if you go from cabinet to cabinet you will need to go under the cabinet walls rather than thru them. So placing the cable at the rear of the cabinet makes them less visible, but not completely hidden. If you decide to drill no holes, you will likely also have to put the power brick in a visible location. I like the operation of the system too. There is both a motion sensor and two available buttons to switch the system on/off. The buttons also control the brightness (by holding them down while the brightness cycles). By careful placement of the lights and sensor, you can have switches available on the right, left, and center of your kitchen. Pretty handy . The sensor only operates when your hand is within a couple of inches; I like this because it doesn't set the lights off every time you are working on the counter space below the lights, and it doesn't randomly turn the lights off when you want to leave them on. You have to deliberately move your hand near to the sensor to turn the lights on/off. So place your sensor where you won't be accidentally setting it off. If you don't want the sensor, you must still install it, but you can inactivate it by putting some tape over it. All in all, great system, at a great price. Recommended.

Quality light system with excellent adjustability
These soft-white LED lights are excellent. The kit was easily unpacked and contained more than enough adhesive tabs to get the whole thing installed. Also included are screws for a more permanent installation, thought this will take quite a bit more time. Be sure to thoroughly clean the bottom of the cabinets before trying to adhere anything to it. I was rushing to get it done and didn't clean, which meant I ruined a couple adhesive tabs. Otherwise it was an easy install. You will need to lay it all out and imagine where you want the light to fall, and then figure out what cable will go where and where the power source will be. There are 10 brightness increments which is probably the best feature. The light color is great and works great with our kitchen colors. There are only two minor problems. The first is that the motion sensor is super annoying and there is no way to turn it off. The lights would suddenly go off, and then back on while doing the dishes in the sink about a foot away from the sensor. At first I thought it was faulty but I placed some duct tape over the sensor and solved that problem. The second issue is that the transformer makes a humming noise when the lights are on. It's not terribly loud but in a quiet house you can hear it when standing nearby. These are not reasons to pass on this light system though. The price is a bit steep but they have thus far been well worth it for their quality and convenience.

Great color and dimming but bulky power supply
I've tested and tried a few other options for under-cabinet lights and this one is fantastic: the color and the dimming capabilities are superb, deserving a 5 star rating. Black and Decker advertises this product as "simple tool free installation", which is absolutely true. The flip-side of this is that there are bulky and very visible components. For that reason I reduced my rating to 4 stars. I will extend the wire to an outlet above my cabinets to hide the bulky power supply (I'm replacing my cabinets so I can hide the wiring). Speaking of wiring: the package mentions a 72" wire which would be perfect for my application, then states that it is not included but that a 108" wire can be purchased.... To be continued. Update 05-Sep-17: I purchased a 1-light, 3-light and 5-light package since that met the needs for my kitchen. The 5-light package is the only one that includes the infamous 72" wire. I needed to run three LED wires across the height of my cabinets (42") to reach the outlet on top of the cabinets. I used the one 72" and had to connect two of the shorter wires to create the required length. That resulted in shortage of connecting wires and connectors, but after spending an additional $35 that problem was solved. They really should throw in some more connectors... The motion detectors ended up on top of the cabinets because of the way I wired the lights and drove me absolutely crazy for turning off and on at random. Fortunately I read the reviews and a piece of strategically placed duct tape solved that problem. Bottom line: Eventually I will forget the installation challenges and the end product is really great! Update Aug '20: the 1-light started to flicker, which was caused by the power supply. I contacted Black+Decker directly and they sent me a complete new package. Great service especially since it was 3 years since I purchased the set.

Awesome Under-Cabinet Lights
Fantastic lighting. I'm a month in at the time of this review. I opted for the 5-light version and mounted 2 under each 3-foot cabinet and the last one under a 1.5-foot cabinet on the opposite side of the stove. They are super-bright! You could definitely go with their suggestion and use just 1 under each 3-foot cabinet, but since they're dimmable and remember the level they've been set to, glad I have the option to really blow things out if I want. The motion sensor option is an excellent feature and works well, though it often takes me a couple of tries and sometimes bang the back of my hand on the edge of the cabinet it's mounted under. (I might try lowering the motion sensor with a block of wood or something later.) Installation was pretty straight-forward. Takes a little extra effort and planning to hide the wires nicely. Wasn't sure if everything would work correctly until after install, but happy it all did. Would like to have seen a better video on "here's how it works". Videos that were available didn't make actual operation very clear, but in the end this was an excellent purchase and upgrade. Highly recommend.

Well engineered product, sleek yet effective lighting, simple basic installation
It's not that often you find a product this well-designed and made, say similar to most Apple products. After reading through many of the reviews for it I decided to give it a shot, as we've needed under-cabinet lighting for a while. Great decision--we are really enjoying this kitchen addition! Installation for the 5-light kit in our kitchen was, for the most part, pretty easy. I ended up needing *two* extra cost 108" jumper cables to span the sink/window and range areas. I took some pains to route cables out of sight, including locating the AC adapter above (and inside) the range hood cabinet. Our cabinets are face-frame types, which facilitate hiding the jumper cables between the light bars in the string of lights. Quality of all provided materials was great. There is, however, a mystery as to the *quantities* of some parts provided, at least for our 5-light kit. Note each 9" light bar mounts using 2 mounting clips, and the system is limited to 5 lights total (according to product support). Yet the kit includes 16 mounting clips for light bars, so you have 6 clips left over...huh? No wonder there is some lingering confusion about being able to add additional light bars! At the same time, you can easily run out of the 20 provided wire clips, especially if you're installing extra-cost long jumper cables (which btw do not include wire clips). I would have much preferred 6 more wire clips than the leftover light bar clips. It would also be nice if B+D/PureOptics provided more and different custom cable lengths that were either included or available as extra cost accessories. In addition to the existing 108", 30", 24" and 12" accessory lengths, say, also 48", 36", 18", 9" lengths. Neatness counts, especially when you factor in making a mod to an expensive kitchen!

Works as an Under Desktop Light
This Black & Decker light does a great job providing light specifically for my keyboard. Setting it up was very easy. It came with all the pieces necessary to install it, including cable management to keep cables tucked away, out of sight. The light can get very bright. I found the 3rd lowest setting works the best for my application. The dimmer setting is controlled by a button on the light. The light bar stays very cool to the touch, even after hours of use. (At least at the 3rd dimmest setting.) The motion sensor is built into a small, square module that is separate from the light bar so it can be mounted away from the light bar in a convenient location. In my setup, I can lift my left hand off the keyboard, make a karate move a foot to the left, just under my desktop and on comes the light. To turn the light off, I just repeat my karate chop motion. Overall, the product seems to be well engineered. The kit has everything you need to give you multiple mounting options. It's a quality product. I confidently recommend it for anyone needing an under counter or under computer desktop light.

Easy to install, easy to use.
Second set I've bought for two different kitchens. Love the touch less under counter hidden switches. First set still works great after several years, hence reason I bought again. Very easy to install with the provided adhesive backed clips. Still holding strong after several years. Highly recommended.
