Gilded Age, The: The Complete First Season (DVD)

This show is amazing. I love Downton Abbey and I love the gilded age. I even got my husband hooked on watching it. I love when it's set in a different period of time. And the actors and the actresses are wonderful.

Such a great series....just watched it this week for the 3rd time. A+

I am so glad we made the purchase of all three seasons. Because we ended up loving the Gilded Age. It was so worth buying this because it turns out that it is a series that is so good we could watch it over and over again. Plus, there is always something you catch the next time around!

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!! Been streaming it on Max and am completely hooked! Can’t wait for season 4!!!

I love British dramas and this one is excellent. Great acting and love the characters!

Enjoyed this series

This is a surprisingly great series, all the historical references to known NYC society of that time were surprising and refreshing. All the usual great Julian Fellowes research shows in this series in every little detail.

I really enjoyed this first season of the series. Looking forward to the second season. I don't subscribe to HBO so I will wait until the dvd is released. The story and characters are so entertaining that I will gladly buy the dvd. The plot is very interesting as it covers the American period of history when great wealth was suddenly made by ordinary people because of industry and the clash of society from those of inherited wealth. I personally find it difficult to understand why being accepted by snobs mattered so much. But watching the characters wrestle and scheme was fun.

Received today but we just saw already two episodes of The Gilded Age. Love love love it! I didn't know that some of the stories such as the Russell family were made up (not real), but I tell you, that story sounds very much like the Vanderbilt and Alva Vanderbilt Belmont saga! Alva's push into society and building *the biggest and most expensive house in. NY* was exactly the same Mrs Russell is doing. Even the brashness of her character! And others in the story (of course we have only seen 2 episodes but are sure it is very close to some really (uncomfortable) truths for some families). Mrs Astor for instance is the real deal in the series and others also are turning up who were really a major player in that Gilded Age epoque. I read many historical books about that era, just truly exhilarating what was going on during that time roughly 1860-1920. So happy having this first series now, I realize there is a 2nd one (but only on tv) and a 3rd one in the making. Where are the DVD's for the second series? we need those! :)
