I went back to school as a “mature” student and have been doing Oxy-Fuel cutting with Acetylene and a MAPP manifold. The classic strikers are great, but don’t always give a consistent strike. As a result I have to repeatedly strike and my hand ends up fatiguing, this then causes my hand to shake. A shakey hand with acetylene is not pretty. This strikes every time (which is a safety feature, really). A word of caution, don’t light your torch with the back of this striker, it still works, but you will get a buildup of carbon that you will need to clean off eventually. This is a great product, well made, safe, durable and will handle any shop environment well. I definitely recommend. I’ve attached a video of the front face of the striker for reference.

I work HVAC as a welder, and this thing is perfect for lighting up oxy fuel torches, and turbo torches. Works just as intended. Never have to worry about flint running out, and easier to use.

I bought this as an addition to my torch rigs, I run various acetylene and propane torches in my home shop. I was a little disappointed at first to discover that this doesn't ignite a standard propane plumbing torch reliably (like a Bernzomatic or TurboTorch). I then tried it with my acetylene torches (Victor Performer, Firepower 250, Detroit DHC2000 and an old Dockson cutting torch), and it pops a flame every single time without fail. I'm so impressed with this that I chained it to my torch cart, it's now my dedicated acetylene ignitor. The fact that it never needs flints or batteries is an absolute win for me, I'm definitely buying another one to keep in my mobile rig in my truck. 100% would recommend.

I purchased this with the idea that it could a lot propane such as small heaters and such, but you can’t light a heater with this electric striker
