Like the side you would not write on/label. Thanks!** A: Actually the backs of DVD's and CD's is virtually clear. You are looking at the backside of the Label area. The data material is behind the label, NOT on the back. This is why you should NEVER use a ball-point pen on the label, and NEVER scratch or damage the label side of the media. A challenge for you.... take an old cd/DVD and scratch through the label carefully. You will see the other side of the DVD and you will see light through it. You can almost see items you place near the scratched off area.
