I bought this flashlight to replace a much more expensive and powerful flashlight that failed me after a single use. This one works well, and with the 14500 battery, it is bright enough for most purposes. It may not be bright enough for certain types of hunting, or night time hiking when greater visible range is needed, such as a flashlight using 18650 batteries can provide.However, for night time walks around my neighborhood, it is sufficient.When using only AA batteries, the light is noticeably dimmer, and felt somewhat insufficient when used outdoors. However, for around the house, or for campers/tents, etc, it works fine.

Red light is consistent brightness from edge to center. On full zoom, it projects a bright square. The switch is a simple push button on/off. No strobe, which I am thankful for. Only takes one AA battery. No complaints so far.

This little flashlight is amazing! The red light is very bright, and great for using at night without ruining your night vision. When set to its highest width, it illuminates a good sized area. I haven't had much of a use for the narrow beam yet.The ridges on the outside look cool, but they're also functional, and provide a good gripping surface. That plus the gold finish makes it look very steampunk and/or high tech. Much cooler than a boring plastic case!

Pilots need to use red light to save night vision. These flashlights are good choice to have as spares everywhere.The case is metal, a beautiful gold color, and looks pretty rugged.The red light is bright and the zoom feature makes it even better.A great flashlight for the price. I'll be buying more.

Used these to find turtle nests on Tybee Island in Georgia! Unfortunately we didn't find any eggs, but these flashlights were great! Multiple settings made shining the red lights in the dark at the beach all the more fun.

Great value for these red beam flashlights. Very handy for the size, good illumination from the beam. Best for walking into dark rooms like a theater or reading a telescope manual while stargazing. Not powerful enough for outdoor activity.

Just what we wanted to go with our Planisphere when out looking at the stars. It's really bright so we can see what we need to see and doesn't kill our night vision. Thanks!

Good flashlight. A little annoying as sometimes when you turn it on it’s on flash mode but it’s a minor complaint. Maybe a little bright for maintaining night vision but still better than white light.
