High quality and great price
This pen is an exceptional writing instrument that combines style, functionality, and durability in a sleek, compact design. From the moment I held it, I was impressed by its weight and solid feel—this pen is built to last. The brass construction gives it a premium, sturdy quality that feels satisfying in hand, and over time, it even develops a unique patina that adds character. The bolt action mechanism is smooth and satisfying to operate, adding a fun, tactile element to using the pen. It clicks securely in place, ensuring the pen stays retracted when not in use, preventing any accidental ink marks. The writing experience itself is flawless, with smooth ink flow and a comfortable grip that makes it easy to write for long periods without hand fatigue. I also appreciate the pen’s minimalist, sleek design. It’s professional enough to use in any setting, whether for work, journaling, or everyday use, but still stands out as a stylish and functional piece. If you’re looking for a pen that’s built to last, offers a satisfying writing experience, and looks great doing it, this is an excellent choice. Highly recommended!

Great quality pen!
I'm not a review giver but this pen is really great for the $$. The bolt action is super smooth and fast, machining is very nice. The dark brass finish is beautiful and being heavier it feels great in your hand, the clip is heavy duty as well. Standard refill so lots of options on replacement cartridges. I will probably try out a titanium version next, I'm a pen person and this one is already right up there among my top favorites.

These pens are fantastic.
I swear, I don't work for these people. Though, I may be willing to. These pens are functional masterpieces. I write this review for the heat oxidized titanium model, but I got three, (four) of these Smootherpro pens because they are now the only pens I am generally willing to write with. The fourth, not being one of this bolt action model, but too good to not mention here as well.. These pens do perfectly fit G2 ink cartridges, as well as several other makes of compatible diameter with varying degrees of modification. I use a Pentel Energel 0.7mm cartridge in the brass bolt action, and a purple Energel in the titanium. They sit slightly longer, (maybe a millimeter) than the stock cartridges or G2s. I filed the ends down with an emery board, it is a flawless fit. The steel one was the only of the three, for whatever reason, to come with a thin metal disk that sits behind the cartridge, flush with the bolt action mechanism. This does prop the ink tip slightly farther out on this pen than the others. Removing this disk puts this pen back perfectly in line with the brass and titanium units. The disk also fits in the other two. Not sure if this was an oversight, but they all work perfectly without it, and I think I prefer where the cartridge sits without it. Pictures show all of these pens screwing apart at three places on their tubes, but mine only come apart at one of these spots, as shown in my pictures. More curiously, the titanium pen only screws off at the tip, whereas all the others come apart mid-shaft. The density variable checks. These three bolt action pens are virtually identical in dimension, apart from the clip on the titanium one, and where it opens. The brass one weighs approx. 51.8g; the steel one approx. 46.7g; and the titanium only 27.7g. For inquiring minds, the fourth, not bolt action pen weighs approx. 56.3g. All weighed on the same scale of course, and with the same unused stock cartridge for continuity. Definitely using the claimed metals, and machined to a high caliber of precision. These all feel very sturdy and quite substantial in the hand. I personally find the added weight generally pleasant to write with. Though admittedly, the bolt action in the back end of such solidly built pens does make them a bit unwieldy. The titanium one is obviously the least affected by this. It's fairly noticeable with the brass unit. Interestingly, the heaviest, click action brass pen is pretty much perfectly balanced, and honestly feels the nicest to write with. I just aesthetically prefer the bolt action. These pens thoroughly reek of class and, as some have pointed out, the brass units do in fact smell like copper. This will increase with time and use in your bare hand. I personally like it. Smells like pennies. Smells like money. Looks like a banker's pen. This just all checks in my head, but I can see how some may not prefer it. Steel and titanium smell of nothing. As for the bolt action itself, it may not be as smooth out of the box as a bolt action pen costing several times as much. But, as others have pointed out, this fidget friendly mechanism will only wear smoother over time. It took less than the first day of use, and a mild bit of working the bolt back and forth to smooth out the brass bolt action to a buttery glide. It is pleasant, it feels good. The steel one did admittedly take a few days to work in to a similar smoothness. I'm not going to lie, the titanium unit was bothersome to me for a bit. It's mechanism was easily the roughest out of the box, by far. Understanding the realities of working with titanium, I'm not removing any praise for this. In fact, quite the opposite. Titanium is not cheap, and it's not exactly easy to mold, cnc, grind or polish. The degree of precision machining and finishing involved here is honestly nonsense for the price it's being sold here. And to be clear, it has smoothed out too. Just not as much, and it took longer. Bottom line, I dug out a small tripod to take pictures of these pens. I don't keep it out, because I write reviews like this all the time. I had to go find it, and felt compelled to do so, because these pens are so good. I may have a problem, but if you're seriously still reading, it's because I don't actually even have the words for just how highly I recommend any of these.

Quality pens with interesting differences.
This(RG340) is my second Smootherpro pen. The first was the solid brass one (RG336). The titanium is lighter and opens a little differently..more at the tip than in the middle of the barrel and the pocket clip is deep carry version, which I think I prefer, but it might not be as rugged as the one on the brass unit. The ink cartridges that come with it are the 0.7mm (fine) cartridges...But I prefer the 1.0mm bold, So I swapped them out. I also found that the springs in the units aren't as nice or as stiff as the ones in the Pilot G2 plastic pens so I swapped those springs out as well. The Pilot cartridges have a yellow keeper fluid in them and a pink barrel near the tip where the Smootherpro cartridges have a clear keeper fluid and a gray barrel. They are very well machined pens with a quality feel. They have a small o-ring where the pens split to add a little bit of friction and a little sealing capability. There is a 6mm wide, nonremovable cap at the top of the pen that has a ~3mm sized hole drilled though it. I've got a small split ring in the brass pen and will be trying out a small titanium D-ring in the titanium model. I would buy again!

Perfect for Pilot G2
I bought this as a write a lot at my job. I spent years hunting down the best pen and it is undoubtedly the Pilot G2. However, I didn't want to have to spend money on the full pen. And their plastic bodies break quickly. I found this and have been using for several months now, it's top tier! The Pilot G2 refills fit perfectly. The weight of the pen is nice. And the pen has functioned flawlessly since purchased! Best of all, everything is metal and threaded so nothing will break, at worst just need tightened! I would highly recommend.

Excellent. Solid, smooth, and heavy.
Excellent. Solid, smooth, heavy, and it takes the best refills known to man (Pilot G2). I recommend the 1mm heavy point. Bam you have an heirloom writing instrument right there.

Lovely 8/10. (10/10 with ink of choice)
Lovely weight and feel. Works well with other inks as well. I personally use the Uniball 207 and would highly recommend if you don't mind doing a little trimming at the back edge of the ink. Very durable, and brings me back toyilitary days dealing with brass.

Outstanding!
This solid pen is a beautifully crafted writing instrument. The weight is ideal for all of my writing tasks and the BIG advantage is that it uses the readily available Pilot G2 refills. This eliminates you desperately looking for the correct refills. Although the bolt action was smooth out of the box, I put a couple drops of machine oil which made it buttery slick. The CNC detailing is captivating which gives the pen a professional look that seamlessly fits both the office environment and your day-to-day work outside the office. Through daily use the brass, fused with copper plating, is slowly beginning to show its distinct patina giving a more elegant character. You can age brass by using vinegar and salt but, I would like for it to gradually see this darken through its natural course. Given its high quality, easily obtainable Pilot G2 refills, skip free writing and value; I highly recommend. I will surely purchase more as gifts for the office as staff is completely fascinated by it.
