Compact Security Without the Bulk of a U-Lock – Great for Everyday Stops As someone who bikes regularly (including quick errands and beach runs), I’ve been looking for something more secure than a basic cable lock but less bulky than a traditional heavy U-lock. This SIGTUNA folding lock hits that sweet spot really well. First impression: it feels solid. The hardened 8mm steel bars have real heft to them, and once unfolded, it wraps comfortably around a bike frame and a fixed object like a rack or post. It doesn’t feel flimsy or toy-like at all. At the same time, it’s not excessively heavy. It’s noticeable, but reasonable for the level of protection it offers. What I like most: – Compact when folded. It tucks neatly into the included mounting bracket and sits cleanly on the frame without looking awkward. – No rattling. Once mounted properly, it stays put during rides. – Flexible locking positions. Compared to a rigid U-lock, this gives you more options when locking up to odd-shaped racks or thicker posts. – Protective coating. The anti-scratch plastic coating is a big plus. I’m careful about my bike’s paint, and this doesn’t feel like it’s going to chip or scuff the frame. – Smooth key operation. The locking mechanism on mine works cleanly—no sticking or forcing the key. Installation was straightforward for me, but I can see how some people might get tripped up if the included tool doesn’t match perfectly. If you have a small Allen wrench set at home, that makes things easier. A couple things to keep in mind: – This is not a “leave your bike overnight in a high-theft area” lock. It’s strong for everyday use and clearly better than a thin cable, but determined thieves with power tools are always a different story. – It’s heavier than a minimalist cable lock. If you’re an ultralight road cyclist obsessed with shaving grams, you’ll feel it. For commuters, hybrids, e-bikes, or casual riders, it’s a very fair trade-off. – Make sure you mount it securely and test it before your first ride to avoid bracket movement. For quick stops at a coffee shop, grocery run, or locking up at work in a visible area, I feel confident using this. It provides real deterrence without turning my bike into a weightlifting exercise. Bottom line: A well-designed, compact folding lock that offers meaningful security for everyday riding. Not indestructible (nothing is), but a smart, practical upgrade over basic cable locks. Definitely a 5-star value for the price.

I first saw this lock design during my European travels. Amsterdam, Belgium, Holland all have larger bicycle riding populations which rival anywhere in the U.S. We had a couple bikes stolen from the storage rack at the Florida condo and I decided to try these to keep them safe from the dirty, rotten scoundrels who prowl for other folk's hard-earned stuff. These have a nice bike mount "holster", so they transport comfortable attached to your bike and are rugged anti-theft devices! I've owned them a few years now and they have held up nicely, even in the salt air environment here on Siesta Key. Definitely worth the investment, every penny and I highly recommend this brand.

This is a very clever, lightweight bike lock, and seems like it will be quite secure. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the instructions and tools provided for installing the bracket were insufficient. I purchased the "new" model; I suspect that the instructions and the Allen wrench were meant for the previous model, as the Allen wrench was too big for the screws, and the instruction to "place washer on bracket" made no sense. Once I found the correct wrench in my toolbox and figured out how to position the washer, though, installation was easy.

This is a very cleverly portable yet robust design that I would feel confident in protecting my property from theft to at least a moderate degree. There are multiple, small, lightweight devices available that are similar in form but offer no real security except perhaps to possibly deter a passerby thief who spontaneously decides to ride off with your beautiful bike. Some, costing quite a bit more than this product, can be easily cut off in seconds and offer about the same security as tying a good piece of string around your bike. Granted, nothing will 100% protect against a determined thief who is out to get your expensive set of wheels and has tools, know-how and time, but this lock will greatly tilt the odds of their success in your favor, and would send most off in search of an easier target. The design and quality of materials used on this lock is superb making the current pricing on it a bargain! It cannot be cut with casual cutters, and the type of lock employed (abloy) cannot be picked. But...(the conundrum) This package weighs appx a couple of pounds. Online it looks like it would be much lighter. Much of the expense on a precious bike to be protected was to shave a few extra grams off of the bike's weight. Having attached a lock that adds a couple of extra pounds, let alone ounces, might not be a welcomed idea to many. The owner of a very expensive, very lightweight bike might use a heftier lock like this to add security when storing in their garage, but would probably not want to carry it around at all times, as this is designed to mount on the bike. However, this may be very suitable for mounting to a heavier bike such as a tandem or an E-bike or for the casual rider with a nice hybrid. I've been jammering on...sorry...In sum, this is a great lock for anyone except the most devoted race-bike enthusiast who would never leave their bike unattended in the first place!

Little bit bulky, but what can you expect from interlocked metal plates XD. it's an overall good product, piece of mind my bike won't get stolen with this lock hanging off it, great deterrent.

Very heavy but does the job.

It looks impressive should foil any thieving attempts. It's a little tight on my e-bike with not much room or extra play. But for the price I paid I'm well satisfied.
