Buy this! No brainer--inexpensive, plug and go, works perfectly
I was looking for an A-B switch to use one monitor on two computers (I go back a looooong way with PCs!) and found the modern replacement as a KVM switch which is obviously even better. I use two active computers and have a third which has been recently replaced as my primary machine but still has some software and files that I cannot move from the XP platform to Win 7 (Win 7, by the way, is a superbly stable and competent OS.) I had run out of room for monitors and the plug/unplug dance was a pain. Enter the KVM evaluation. This thing works just as advertised and works externally to the OS so there's no keystroke sequence to learn and no opportunity for software failure (I'm using the switch between an XP computer and a Vista computer.) There's a neat little button that has plenty of cable to the device; just press the button and the monitor, keyboard and mouse automatically swap from one computer to the other all three devices which begin to operate after a brief delay of a few seconds. I'm using this with an older cordless Logitech mouse and a new cordless Microsoft ARC keyboard and both work flawlessly. Naturally, I tried it with a wired mouse and keyboard and both of those worked, too. I've used the switch for a week and have had no problems and been delighted with the performance. It's hard to believe so much functionality for so little money! Naturally, Amazon price and service were top-notch.

Great product
Works as described and at a great price. Use a wireless mouse/keyboard combo to plug into the sharing USB port. Then you just have to figure out which usb chord connects to the same sharing port for the wireless mouse/keyboard. Just plug in one of the 2 USB's that come out of one VGA cable and see if the mouse wiggles, if not just switch the USB cable. Click the switch remote then repeat on the other computer. No need to use both USB plugs in one computer if your using a wireless keyboard/mouse combo. con's: too bad the chords aren't very long, and I'd recommend getting a female to female VGA connector to add an extension VGA cable if your computers are more than 5 feet away from eachother because you will end up tripping over the VGA cable or straining the connections from tension. (I got this one from Amazon for around 3 bucks and has free shipping even though it's not amazon prime HD15 (VGA) Female / HD15 (VGA) Female, VGA Mini Gender Changer (For PC) ) . You can use the old VGA cable (assuming you had a seperate VGA cable for both computers) as an extension then decide if you need an even longer one, but standard VGA cable + the switch VGA cables, should be plenty long enough for most people. A wireless switch would be cool too, but the chord for the switch is plenty long enough, and you don't have to worry about losing it. Also, the product works fine if you want to use a VGA splitter (extending one computer to 2 monitors) and use one of your sockets in the splitter for this product then use the switch to change one monitor to the other computer. So essentially you can have TRI (3) monitors for one computer (laptop + 2 extended monitors) and share the extra monitor with another computer without have to re-rig everything up. Unique situation for me, but in case anyone else had one computer set up for 3 monitors, this device works fine providing great picture even with the additional wiring.

Multiple Devices? One Mouse and Keyboard.
I bought this so I could connect one mouse and keyboard (Logitech G502 and G910 ) to both my desktop PC and Xim 4 , so I could seamlessly switch between them without constantly having to plug and unplug my peripherals. This is exactly what I needed. There is zero detectable latency, and switching between outputs is almost instant via the push-button wired remote, which will reach just about anywhere you can think of, and is small enough to be discreetly and conveniently placed. And for you gamers like me out there, yes; all keyboard and mouse functionality, including RGB lighting, macros, hotkeys, you-name-it, remains completely unaffected, as if wired directly to your PC. If I HAD to think of some cons, I would probably note that the cables are slightly heavy and cumbersome, and could cause damage over time to the plugs and/or ports you connect them to, unless you properly support them (ESPECIALLY if you aren't using the VGA plugs)... The cables are also a bit short, but that's probably just a personal problem, unique to my specific setup... Also, as some others have mentioned, it would be nice if you could use hotkeys to switch between outputs, but that, iin my opinion, is inconsequential when considering how much convenience this one little device offers. Overall, this is a well-made, handy little switch that will save you time, effort, and worn out USB ports... I highly recommend it, and will be getting another as my setup becomes more elaborate...

Just what the Tech-Doctor Prescribed!
Just what the tech-doctor prescribed! So, in my new job, I was given a laptop with VGA and HDMI ports. I also have a home computer--a 'tower' desktop (okay, towers are almost never DESKtops but you get my meaning!)--which I wanted to use during off hours. I hooked up the laptop via HDMI to a big monitor while the tower was connected to the same monitor via VGA cable. So far, okay. But what to do with the keyboard/mouse? I didn't want to use the laptop's keyboard/trackpad all day and was also having to constantly unplug the (usb) mouse and keyboard for off-hours/on-hours. Yes, this is work from home job. So I searched and found this on Amazon. It got delivered yesterday and I am already loving it! Yes, as others said, there's some not so clear text sometimes and also some windows--especially on left panels--seem to go too far to the left. But my work is not affected by this and I am simply happy to press the wired-remote's switch to toggle between the two computers. Certainly beats having to plug and unplug the usb mouse/keyboard. Oh, by using this device, I am able to get rid of the HDMI cable because I am using the VGA cable connections to both the tower and the laptop. In short, I am very happy so far. If this dies on me then we'll see.

Great KVM!
I recently purchased this KVM and I thought I would share a couple of items about it. This is a very good KVM and I am very happy about my purchase. I have listed below some of the things that I wondered about or discovered or did with the KVM that may be of value for you as you evaluate the different brands and models available. 1). It never shows the cable ends in any of the pictures. Each cable has 2 USB connectors and one VGA connector. The manual even goes so far as to show PS2 connectors which is not the case. 2). One of my PC's only had an HDMI video port. I contemplated getting an HDMI KVM setup, but instead I went with this model and purchased a HDMI to VGA converter cable. Works great! 3). I have a Logitech cordless mouse and keyboard that operate from a single USB connection. I was wondering because of the separate Keyboard and Mouse USB connectors if this would be a problem. But I plugged the USB nano-receiver into one of the ports and only plugged one of the USB cables into each PC, and everything works great! 4). If both PC's are off and you turn one of them on, by default it displays Computer 1 and the keyboard & mouse are sent to computer 1, even if you turn on computer 2 first. No big deal, as I switched which PC I had connected to which port so the one I use all the time is connected as Computer 1. A solid piece of computer equipment that I will use for a long time!

Simplicity Itself for a Great Price
All I needed was a nice simple KVM switch, just to take a USB keyboad and mouse and two computers with VGA graphic outputs (as opposed to digital) and these outputs to one monitor, and that's exactly what this small unit does. Quality is perfectly acceptable, and the fact it has a remote control switch means you can have the switch itself hidden away on the floor somewhere and still be able to easily switch between systems (I have the switch attached on my keyboad with some self adhesive velcro). There is no intelligence in this switch (which in my eyes is a very good thing, keeps things simple) so when you switch it, it in fact physically disconnects the keyboard/mouse from one comuter (you can hear windows make the usb device removed sound) and physically switches the input to the other machine (again you can hear windows usb device connected sound). No problems at all, out of sight and very convenient. And for a fantastic price.

Great product
I had a very old monitor connected to my CCTV. I added another PC next to it only for remote connection and didn't want to add a new monitor for that. I bought this product and connected my new PC with my CCTV system monitor. Its does support wireless mouse and keyboard which was a plus. Recommended.
