Nice for the Price: Beautiful lights and easy to use
For the price, this is amazing. The construction is simple, with very light plastic, and the speaker isn't great, but again, it's less than $15, so it's an easy 5-star rating. This would be nice for relaxing before sleep, chilling with friends, having a party, cuddling during a romantic evening, or meditating, and I can see it being useful for both kids and adults. It's easy to move from room to room, too. It's easy to use, and I like that I can power it either by batteries or via USB with the included cable (which I can plug into a USB power adapter). I didn't even realize it was a speaker when I bought it (I just like looking at cool lights), but it was a nice touch. I listed to Christina Perri and Billy Joel one night via Spotify on my phone. The big part for me is the light, and you get a lot of it. It isn't as concentrated or vibrant as the picture looks on the box, but it's a nice image. It covers my whole ceiling when I place it on my bedside table, and it goes beyond to cover some wall space. There are maybe a dozen color/light settings, and the only one I don't like flashes quickly from color to color. I'm sure that would give me a headache by the one-minute mark! You can see individual colors (red, green, blue) or several variations that mix the colors and cycle through them. The light does tend to light up the room more than I would like on most of the colors (a tilting placement might fix that, as the light is right beside me), but red by itself gives a good night scene. My daughter uses one of these in a room in her house that she decorated in an ocean theme, and it fits the theme quite well.

The box photo doesn't do it justice!!!!
This product is better than I would have ever imagined. I am an adult and use it in my room to help me fall asleep. It is powered by batteries, which is the only downside, but I love it so much I am willing to purchase rechargeable batteries for it. The photo on the box doesn't even do the light justice. I can place this is the corner of my room on my night stand and it will light up my ENTIRE master bedroom ceiling, and not just a little circular area like it shows on the box. And yes, it actually looks like ocean waves dancing on the ceiling. You can cycle through different LED color shows with the center button. The blue lights and multicolored light shows can be pretty bright, but there are also solid color light shows that are deep and dark in color that I find very relaxing. This light is also 100% QUIET!! I mean it will make a sound if you want the speaker on, but THIS LIGHT/MOTOR/FAN is SILENT. Which is amazing when you are trying to sleep. If I ever had kids, I would buy them their own ocean light.

Cool little nightlight/party light
I got this for my kid's room as a nightlight. I also liked how the light looked online and I wanted to see if it would be a cool party light. I only paid about $14 for it, which was pretty good compared to some sellers. Unlike some of the other raters, this light worked right out of the box. The unit is fairly small and it doesn't take up much space. It looks kind of cheap and it feels very light, but it works well. The lights are simple LEDs, but they do a good job of lighting up the room. The speaker also works well. I connected it to a laptop and had the kids dancing to music and enjoying the light show. Interestingly, the light pulses a bit in time with the music. I'm not sure if it's a quirk of the wiring, the power draw on the circuit of both the speaker and the lights, or an intentional effect, but it looked nice. The power cord is a wall wart with a removable USB-to-power cable. It feels chintzy, but it works. I noticed some of my older outlets don't hold the prongs in place, causing the cable to slip out of the outlet. I just bent the prongs out a bit to fit the outlet. No problems there. Also, you can plug the light directly into your laptop to power it, then plug the audio cable into the headphones port to play music on it. Now you have an instant light show with your music. Another useful thing I noticed about this light- It has an automatic shutoff. That comes in handy if you use it as a nightlight, as I did. BTW-my kid likes the light a lot.

Cheap quality, but still does its job.
Unit is nice, does the job well. Purchased to be a "disco" accessory for our Autistic daughter. I only have a couple problems with it. The battery door does not seal completely, not sure why, might see if a dremel will get it to stop bulging up. The speaker is not very loud, but what do you expect? The phone the kids plugged into it gets louder on its own. The buttons are not very durable, probably not going to last very long with kids pushing on them. The power cord is not very durable. It shorted out within a few uses. We use it on batteries only now, but the power cord option would have been nice to retain Basically, it flows the watery lights in various colors, and it does that one job well enough. The build quality kind of stinks, but it is a cheap thing to begin with. For the money, it does what my daughter desired. And when combined with the rotating LED disco bulb, she really has a blast playing Just Dance on her Wii.

Kind of impressed
Gives a really cool little light show and lets you select from different colors and settings. One switches between colors slowly and is very relaxing. That and the plain blue wave effect are my favorites. It works on batteries or plugs into the wall. Or can even plug into a USB connector for power. I bought a Bluetooth dongle and was able to pair it up with my tablet so now I can send music to the speaker from anywhere in the house instead of being tied down to the short input cord provided. The speaker isnt real powerful. You're not going to be shaking walls with this thing and if you turn it up too much, it tends to get garbled but for everyday music playing, its fine. Im actually really impressed for the price I paid for it.

Works Well - plays music and speech with recorder jacked in!
When my Aurora Master Ocean Relax Projector Pot Music arrived, the first thing I did was set in the middle of the floor on a TV Tray to project the waves over my 16x24x12 ft. high pitched ceiling. Turned on some Classical Music and I was in Awe as I laid back in my recliner and watched the succession of changing colors as they projected over the entire ceiling! My ceiling is divided into sections by dark wood beams that didn't pick up the color waves and gave the effect of looking thru a succession of sky-lite windows as if I was looking at the Aurora Borealis. However, it only lasted for an hour and then shuts off automatically. (Safety Feature but annoying.) Cons: Well after about a 3 months of use, I noticed My Waves weren't moving anymore... Just a steady beam of coloring changing lights on the ceiling. It seemed the rocker part inside the unit became dislodged and all movement was now just a calm sea. OK, I can fix that? NOT ! I can't figure out how to re-insert the rocker panel that creates the waves.. I know it should go back together, but it won't stay in position? After ample attempts to get it to work properly, I gave up. So here is what I did. I took off the globe, attached some Velcro to the bottom of the lamp and stuck it to the ceiling over my bar for additional lighting that shines down on my bar.. Works Great as the lights still change colors! BUT, Now that it is upside down, the gears that rotate the wheel do not mesh so well and there is this most annoying noise like, " Eeerre, Humm, Eeerre, Berrerreer, Haaa, Ehe Ehe Woouo " and it drives me crazy! Sometimes I think its trying to talk to me....? My solution was to just turn up my Black Sabbath music! I had to, I think I was starting to understand what it was saying....? Anyway, I still love it and will buy another one soon. Oh, BTW, for those of you who are wondering about the music it can play, you have to jack in a system from any type of music player and it works, but it just sounds like a transistor radio. Hope this review helps and put a smile on your face ... ;-}

A bit upset... (Revised)
Original- I will update this review with more stars for someone who can help me out!!! First of all, how the heck do I angle it? This light failed to come with an instruction manual... and the cord is a little short. My biggest issue though is angling this sucker. It would be nice to direct it more towards the center of the ceiling as indicated in the description that it angles at 30 degrees. Revised- We went from 3 stars to 1. Still does not angle at 30 degrees. Also is making a resistance noise when the waves start to move- unless it gets stuck and doesn't move at all. Using this in my baby's nurser for night feedings so that I can see yet not wake up baby but the resistance noise does just that... wakes up my baby or distracts him while eating. Great idea and bright colors but so many things wrong. Not returning it because it's been a few months and my son has an underwater theme. I'm just going to have my husband manipulate the motion feature so that it will just stay and not move so no noise is made.

Details you may be wondering about
it does what it says. For the low price i don't think you could really expect much more than what you get. Rather than go over my opinion or feelings about it, i'll just state some facts that I was curious about when i purchased to help ppl understand what theyre getting better: -It can be powered by 4 double-AA batteries OR through a power cable. The power cable has a round plug end that you connect to the back of the lamp and a full-size USB end that plugs into a wall wart thing, or you could plug it into a nearby computer (what i did) -There are 3 colors of lights in the lamp: Red, blue and green. There are 4 LEDs for each colors. These LEDs are below specially-cut piece of plastic that tilts side to side to distort the lightwaves and create the wave rippl eeffect on the ceiling. There is a button that will toggle through different combinations of said LEDs. When you first turn it on, it will have all 12 of the LEDS all lit up, so the effect will be a very rainbow-ish multicolor deal. The next 2 settings seem to just be ones that cycle through all the colors in different ways, which will briefly create additional colors (like purple when the red and blue fade into eachother) and the setting after this one will just rapidly and abruptly change from red to green to blue with no transition between the two (very unpleasant imo). After these multi-color settings, you have a red-only, blue only and green only setting you can choose from, which is what i normally go with. Unfortunately, since there are only 4 of each color, these settings will not come out as bright as the ones that mix the colors together, but still bright enough when youre in a dark room of course. - Coverage. It WILL cover your entire ceiling, under the right circumstances. People who complained about this must not understand the basic principles of how light beams travel. In order for the light to cover the entire ceiling in your room, you will need to have it low enough/far enough away from the ceiling for the light to be able to spread out. If you have high ceilings and/or place this lamp near the floor, you'll be set. If you have low ceilings however, or if you put this up on a tall dresser or some other elevated platform, it will only cover part of the ceiling. Theres no way around this, its just how projection works! If they would have made the angle any wider the light would probably be projecting off to the sides so much that itt would be directly in peoples eyes, and thats not very relaxing, is it? I cant comment on the music/speakers side of things, as i have yet to use this feature and probably never will since I have a separate stereo for music

Happy
Inspired by the tranquil turtle, I purchased this for my disabled brother as a sensory gift. He loves it. It's fab takes a bit of fiddling with the buttons to get to know the settings but the projector is vibrant and colourful and projects very well even without it being pitch black
