Super book!
This is a great book for anyone wanting to get their body into great shape, whether they exercise or not. The information is easy to understand. Some of its technical for those who need more details, while there's plenty of charts with basic info to get you started right away. I've tried several of the recipes in the back of the book and continued to make them because they are all so good, healthy and tasty. I've recommended this book to many of my running buddy's who train for marathons. It's also helped guide what I provided my kids to eat so I know they're getting a healthy start to life.

Kind of basic
Good book overall. I thought some of the examples were a bit general- if your tired, eat a sandwich and drink water. I understand basic nutrition for the most part. I was hoping this book would help get me to the next level of knowledge in sports nutrition. Good go to guide either way.

Sound nutrition education
I was looking for a book that would teach me well grounded, scientific nutrition. The kind of book where I could learn what a nutritionist might learn in school. This book does just that. No fad stuff in here. She actually has a small section where she talks about the most common fad diets today, and points out their short comings(and even their strengths if they have any). I love how the book was organized to teach how to eat daily, before an event, during events, and after events. Some info on eating to lose weight, but this is not really a "diet" book, though I think even those looking to lose weight could benefit from this book. There is also info on how to gain weight if that is what you are looking for.

Buy this one: Clear, to the Point, Covers all Bases
I've read about ten books on nutrition in the last several years, and Nancy Clark's "Sports Nutrition Guidebook" is without a doubt the best. It is clear, scientific, cuts straight through the fluff, entertaining, and has a wealth of information. Also, if you want to lose weight, skip the fad diet books and read this one. This book has the most sensible advice on weight loss of any book I've read, unlike the numerous diet books that are written more to motivate the reader than to provide real information.

Great Info For Everyone
The book is well written with easy to understand concepts. You do not have to be a dietician to understand what Ms. Clark is talking about. The ideas apply to everyone, not just athletes. Granted, there is some in depth information for athletes regarding breakdown of food groups and timing of meals and snacks. No gimmicks here or selling of the latest and greatest "diet". Just solid nutrition!

I had always been plagued with either eating too little or too much in an attempt to keep up my energy and keep my weight within a strict competition category in martial arts. However, this book really helped me. I got so sick of reading on fitness forums about having no carbs and lots of protein (which I can't do for my endurance activities) or paleo or zone, etc. etc. Or you buy the book with so many complicated and expensive recipes that you would never make anyway. This book gave me everything I needed. I always had problems when I would drop down to competition weight that I would lose my menstruation or I would be dying after a 4 hour workout and eat two chocolate croissants on my way home or I would suffer from serious fatigue and injury because I wasn't eating enough. It always seemed like I was dieting on wrong days and eating too much on others. If you have any of those problems, this book answers all of those question - what to eat when, how to eat healthy without being complicated, basic recipes for those of us with busy lives, having nutritious snacks and sports specific snacks without spending a lot of money (she really lists all of this out). How to deal with issues if you have an intense, but varying sports schedule. I was about to spend £90 seeing a nutritionist, but bought this book and am leaner and healthier than ever!
