Sleek, Smart, and Reliable – Perfect for Modern Homes!
I am beyond satisfied with the Google Nest Doorbell (Battery). I chose the Ash color, and it looks incredibly stylish and modern next to my front door. It’s not just about looks, though—the performance is top-notch. The installation was a breeze since it’s battery-powered, and the video quality is crystal clear with a perfect vertical field of view, allowing me to see packages on the ground and people from head to toe. The smart alerts are very accurate; it distinguishes between people, animals, and vehicles, which prevents unnecessary notifications. As a busy parent, being able to check who’s at the door directly from my phone—or even seeing my son arrive home from baseball practice—is a huge peace of mind. If you’re looking for a doorbell that combines high-end technology with a beautiful aesthetic, this Nest Doorbell is the way to go. Highly recommended!

Clear Video and Easy Installation
I’ve been using the Google Nest Doorbell for a while now, and it’s been a big upgrade for my home security. The video quality is sharp both day and night, and the wide field of view helps catch packages or visitors without missing much. Installation was super straightforward battery power means no wiring hassles, and the Nest app made setup quick. Motion alerts and familiar face notifications are useful, and I love that I can check live video right from my phone. Battery life has been good so far, and when it does need a recharge, the app gives plenty of advance notice. The battery lasts about 2-3 months-ish even in the very cold northern Indiana winter, Overall this smart doorbell delivers excellent performance with intuitive features definitely worth it if you want reliable home monitoring. I have the whole google ecosystem and its nice to be able to access all of them from one app.

Great Design and Custom Alerts - Smart Choice for a Modern Home
We’ve had this doorbell for a few months now, and I’m really happy with how it’s been performing. The dark ash color fits seamlessly with the modern aesthetic of our house. I appreciate the sleek, understated look that doesn't scream "Look at me! I'm a Smart Doorbell". It fits in with the look of my home without obnoxiously standing out and it compliments the black accents on our exterior. Here’s what’s been great about it: Tall Aspect Ratio: This is a game-changer. Although I miss out on the wide left to right field of view of a traditional camera - for a doorbell I have found this to be a preferred and optimal choice. With its vertical design, I can see more than just someone standing at the door. I’m able to spot packages on the ground, which has been a lifesaver with the number of deliveries I get, and it’s easier to catch visitors' (head to toe) as they approach. Custom Alerts: I really appreciate how specific the alerts are. The algorithms baked in to the detection software are able to discern between a person, vehicle, animal, or package crossing the field of view, and I get a notification for exactly what I need to know. Beyond just identifying a person, the Nest Aware software goes a step further to recognize familiar faces and tells me if it is someone I know, or an unrecognized person. This makes a huge difference in cutting down on unnecessary alerts, like when a passing car triggers a motion warning. It also makes sure I take notice when its an unknown person at the door and not just one of my kids running around. Although the advanced Nest Aware package costs 15 dollars a month, I find the 24x7 coverage and advanced detection features to be worth the piece of mind it provides. Video History: The 3-hour free video history is perfect for those that just want to check in on missed events. Personally I chose to step up to the 10 days of 24x7 coverage to provide full access to events and surrounding video coverage. Its always better to have it and not need it, then to need it and it not be there. The video quality is crisp enough to clearly identify people or events, which is reassuring when something’s off at the door or front yard. I also love that I can check and manage all of this through the Google Home app anytime. Easy Setup: It replaced our old wired doorbell without any issues. It simply requires two wires for the power, and two screws to attach it to the wall in front of my door. My transformer was already compatible and provided the right amount of power to run the doorbell. Just like a regular doorbell, a press of the button activates my doorbell chime. This doorbell goes even further though by also announcing the event and playing a chime through my google home speakers and sending a push notification (with video) to my phone. I like this because I can clearly know when someone is at the door no matter where I am at in the house. Some notes: Disappointingly it doesn't support the Nest app which is where I have typically managed my other Nest cameras I have installed around the house (so if used to that interface, it’s a bit of an adjustment), but the Google Home app has been easy to use, and I was able to transition all of my legacy Nest devices over. If Homekit is the preferred smart home over Google - there is a way to integrate the doorbell and camera feed through either a custom homebridge server or through an additional device called Starling Home hub. I personally have the Starling device and it allows the doorbell to integrate perfectly into my existing Homekit Smart Home setup - including alerts, notifications, and live video feed. For anyone looking for a simple, reliable doorbell camera with great video quality and custom alerts, this has been a solid pick. I would definitely recommend it if you're into a more modern, functional design that works out of the box with Google or Alexa devices.

Google Doorbell Camera ✅
Have had this doorbell camera for over a year and it has been fantastic! And I have bought more. It is not terribly hard to install and set up. The camera and video quality are pretty good. And it works great to speak to people when they are at your front door. A few things to consider when buying this camera is the battery life and the app. The battery life is pretty decent, in high traffic areas I would say I have to charge the doorbell camera about every three weeks and low traffic areas, I would say about every seven weeks. It is very easy to take off of the mount and doesn’t take terribly long to charge. If you are not wanting to take the camera off every so often in your house can have a wired connection I would go that way. The app is pretty decent, but I feel like Google could very much improve the user interface in the app. I do have trouble pulling past videos. The app is not very customizable when it comes to camera viewing, but it does have great camera settings and it is easy to navigate. The last thing I would say is make sure you have some outdoor lighting. The two pictures above are the cameras with and without lights on outside. To achieve the best quality video make sure there’s adequate lighting outside.

Must have
Fantastic product. The battery life is great, it works very well in the home app, and does a good job updating your phone when it sees something. It can tell the difference between animals, a person, or somebody with a package. The communication works great too. It also rings on all your google devices, so if you are already part of that ecosystem it functions great. It's a great product.

Buggy product. Not recommended. If you own it, sell it.
Very difficult to set up. Lots of software glitches and work-arounds required. It is finicky about being connected to a permanent power source so you have to let it discharge, remove it, recharge it for hours and then reinstall it. Lately, I've changed internet providers so my Wi-Fi SSD has changed -- The nest app seems to still be required to change the Wi-Fi connection but it is unresponsive -- It won't email me a new password for example -- additionally, one is unable to use the camera through the Nest app but instead required to use Google home. Google Home will then say you have to use the Nest app to change the Wi-Fi. But the Google app requires you to have a USB-C to USB-C connection but then it complains that the same device isn't close enough to the doorbell: "please use the nest app to make sure both phone and doorbell are on the same Wi-Fi". So the software that requires the physical connection doesn't use it to communicate with the doorbell! This is a remarkably cumbersome and difficult device setup. I intend to sell this doorbell and replace it with something else. By the way, silkscreened on the doorbell itself is the name "Google Nest Doorbell (battery)". So guess who I blame? (Another limitation of this product is the inability to add physical memory such as a microSD card. So if one wants to see more than just a few events on the camera you have to subscribe to that service with Google. The features and benefits of this product are are weak and uncompetitive.) I strongly recommend avoiding this product. I believe it is a liability for Google. They should get serious about seamless support for someone trying to buy their products for home automation, or they should get out of the business and drop products like this.

Clear recording of motion and sound
I recommend this product highly for apartment dwellers. The video recording of picture and sound is clear. It is very sensitive to motion and sound however, there are settings to minimize the notifications. Installing was very easy.
