Blichmann BeerGun Stainless Bottle Filler & Accessory Kit

This is, as is typical of Blichmann, a very well made product. It's made of solid materials that are long-lasting and made in such a way as to be easy to clean, take apart, and use over an over again with great results. I was getting too much foam from my usage and realized that I was dispensing directly from the keg without releasing the built up pressure first from the keg's PRV. Now after releasing that pressure briefly the beer pours with absolute perfection. Even better is that all the carbonation is preserved and my growlers have excellent beer when they make it to their destination. I highly recommend this over a simple tube growler filler.

Total no-brainer for bottling beer direct from keg! There is a little bit of a learning curve, to get your process in order: 1) Purge bottle with CO2 2) Fill bottle from bottom, until foam comes out and a tiny bit of beer 3) extract filler tube to leave the perfect amount of head space 4) purge CO2 in head space 5) slap a cap on 6) crimp cap asap The hardest part is getting your gas pressure and keg pressure just right to minimize foam. Number 1 thing is to be PATIENT! This isn't a race. Bottling 24 beers should take you about 30 minutes (including setup and cleanup). This is WAY easier than bottling using priming sugar and you get more consistent results.

I was hesitant to purchase this product based on the reviews I've read but I'm sure glad I pulled the trigger (no pun intended). The Blichmann Beer Gun is a great solution for bottling from a keg. It's very ergonomic and makes the task of bottling easy to do even with one hand. The key to having success with this product is to set your regulator to 6 PSI, flush the beer line on first use by making sure the beer line is completely clear of foam prior to bottle filling, and tilting the bottle at first when filling so the tip is submerged immediately (this prevents foam from forming). I actually had to bump up the PSI to 10 in order to get the beer line to move the beer. Since I have two co2 tanks and regulators I am able to set the co2 line for the Beer Gun to 12 PSI and use my kegerator's regulator for low serving pressure this way I'm able to blast the bottle with high pressure co2 guaranteeing there is no oxygen in that bottle prior to filling. I had no issue filling 7 bottles in a row from two different kegs. I filled a couple of bottles from one keg, cleaned and sanitized the Beer Gun and beer line, and filled from a different keg with no foaming issues. I don't know why some folks are having issues with foaming but trust me it's a great product if you know how to use it. Read the manual prior to using it and disassemble and reassemble it a couple of times for practice. This is my first Blichmann purchase other than the Brewmometer which is just a thermometer. I'm blown away by the design. Next purchase ... Blichmann Hop Rocket!

The BeerGin itself is fine, the set is what I am rating one star. Reason being the PVC tubing for the liquid/beer is not odorless and food grade. It was delivered new with that cheap PVC chemical smell. I even soaked in cleaner for a day and then sanitizer for a day, ran some water through it for a taste test and it was extremely potent chemical flavor of plastic. What a way to ruin a fresh batch of beer. I recommend getting the gun and the accessories separate.

I had previously tried filling beer bottles from a keg using tubing attached to a party tap. This inevitably produced a lot of foaming, so bottles were difficult to fill and the headspace was not purged of air. The Beer Gun solves all of that. Press one trigger to purge the bottle with CO2, then press the other trigger to gently release beer against the bottom of the bottle. Very little foaming if you do it right (it takes a little practice.) My only complaints are poor instructions, as it was not intuitive how to disassemble for cleaning, and cheap quality hose material included. I found a good video on YouTube on how to disassemble & re-assemble. Turned out the problem I was having was the right-angle sheet metal piece at the back was stuck in the groove around the inner tube. A little force solved the problem. Once you have done it once, disassembly/cleaning/re-assembly is pretty easy. The hoses, one for CO2 and one for beer, are thin, relatively stiff vinyl material that kinks. I replaced it with thicker, more flexible material that I use for Corny key lines. Given the price of the gun, it would be nice if Blichman included decent hose material.

Tried this for first time last week. I did bottle carbonated beer from a Keg. Instructions are very clear. People giving bad feedback here that they get too much foam etc is because they are definitely not using it correctly. Put all pressures per instructions and it work like a charm. I used about 6psi for gas and 8psi for beer. Tried one of my new bottles this weekend and beer came out just like the ones you bay at the store. It is expensive but I think a great easy to use product out of the box.

This is the second beer gun i have from them. The newer one is a slight improvement over the old. Pros: Gets the job done Cons: Pistol grip is extremely uncomfortable after a couple of cases (your hand will be sore) Action does not close accurately or consistently, which allows beer to continuously come out (say hello to beer in your sanitizer bucket). Please keep improving on this design. Almost there.....
