13 1 Oz Purple Rit Powder Dye

I wasn’t totally sure how to use this but I followed most of the directions & it worked great. I stood on a human scale with an empty laundry basket to get a starting weight. Then I put clothes in the basket & weighed myself again. That’s how I figured out how much the clothes weigh. 1 box is for 1 lb of clothes. My clothes for this were all white cotton. I added 1 cup salt per box of dye. So I used 2 boxes of dye and a whole canister of salt. I boiled water in a teapot to make the initial mix. I put the dye powder, salt, boiling water, & clothes into an old 35 lb plastic kitty litter bucket. Also a little dish soap. I boiled 2 pots of water on the stove and that was all the water I used. I stirred the clothes with a spatula, and then I added an extra garment. I stirred a few times here & there. Then I let it sit overnight. Then I poured the dye water in the sink, and wrung each piece out by hand in the kitchen sink. I didn’t rinse the clothes. Then I put the clothes in the washing machine on a medium time-length, cold cycle, with half the amount of laundry detergent as usual. I added several white cotton towels into the wash, to help disperse the dye. I am happy those towels got dyed in the washing machine. Then I dried everything in the dryer as per usual. I’m happy the dye didn’t stain anything like the sink, floor, dryer, etc. The clothes came out slightly mottled like a tie dye, which looks really cool. Each garment absorbed the color a little differently and they’re all really pretty.

I loved it! Purple is my favorite color! It fades minimally yet I was unable to make it stick evenly.

This product is mostly not carried in my stores here...it works great,,I renewed the color in my tennis shoes and the sun faded contains in my RV

i used this to dye a white cotton baseball cap and some white cotton face masks because i like to have matching hats and masks when i go to work. the color has held up great, but it didn't come out exactly as i expected. based on the box, i was expecting a dustier purple color. what i got was a very dark, very bright purple. it's a nice color, just not exactly what i was going for or what i expected. i used the stovetop method and dumped the whole packet for one hat and ten masks. maybe less dye would have given me a lighter color, i'm not sure.

This product is easy to use and the color turned out extremely well. I had a shirt that I did not want to throw away because it had some sort of strange round stain right in the front so I decided to dye it instead. Love the color. I just let the blouse soak in a bucket for a couple of hours, washed it in cold water and it looks great. Very pleased. I have not used Rit Dye in years, but I am sure will be using again in the future.

The fine print says you need a fixative, sold separately, since you didn't go through all this trouble to have the color wash out. You also need a 3 gallon pan or bucket if you aren't using the washing machine. My washer doesn't dispense 200° water. There were more complications than the last time I used this dye 30 years ago. The color is amazing.

i like the purple color! sheet was very light grey before. i only used a little bit of purple to get pastel. i used the sink and hot water (with salt and dish soap). but i only stirred for 15 minutes, because i was lazy! and 10 minutes in the fixative. my fabric is cotton. blanket was initially faded orange. i think i should have purchased something darker than Sunshine Orange. i only used a bit of Sunshine Orange, because i didn't want it to turn yellow. the blanket did take on the color and filled in the faded parts (can't really see it in the photos). blanket is cotton. the brand label is cotton and was white. the fabric label is typical polyester and took on the color very badly. note that i only used a bit of powder for both projects and stirred for half of the recommended times.

Tiene un color espectacular e impregna muy bien en la ropa, eso sí, no sirve para ropa de poliéster, hay que mirar bien la etiqueta antes de comprarlo

Je ne connaissais pas cette marque, mais elle est incroyable ! Utilisation très simple, pigmentation intense, ça a été une vraie surprise et je suis désormais conquise. Je prendrais à nouveau cette marque à l'avenir.
