I am looking for something to insulate an outdoor doghouse for the winter, would this product do the trick? thanks

This is better for acoustic insulation. For that, it does an ok job. But for thermal insulation, I would think there are many better products out there.

Total weight & size: is shipping size 12.56 x 12.36 x 4.96 inches and weight 3.6 pound? looks a bit light

Yes.Polyester fiber panels are characterized by their lightweight, durable, and easy installation on walls. Acoustic panels are generally not very heavy. If the weight is too heavy, the sound absorption effect will be reduced.

Are the edges square (meaning no beveled)?

Hi, the edges of the panels are beveled, with a 45-degree bevel.

Can these tiles be painted?

They are like a felt fuzzy material I would not paint. I don't think you can.
