Any time you go 3 pin to 5 pin, 5 pin to 3 pin, setup Copper DMX cable runs over 50’ or use XLR AUDIO cables as DMX Data Cables you risk problems across your entire universe of fixtures… it’s not always logical but remember DMX is not like copper audio cables that are meant to send an analog audio signal from a single source to a single destination. An XLR mic cable has the changing polarity (+/-) with a ground that can pass power at low voltages to a condenser mic. A microphone’s diaphragm moving back and forth within a electromagnetic field or the physical movement from sound pressure levels coming from the vibrations at a source or in reverse from a mixer to a speaker that is just a large diaphragm moving the air back and forth to reproduce the vibrations of those sound waves through higher sound pressure levels but still going one direction using vibrations to move a diaphragm back and forth on the axis (+/-). DMX cabling is more problematic because the data used by lighting technology is more like 512 note polyphony MIDI data but at double the resolution per parameter, on each of the dozen channels of MIDI data, each of the values fall between zero and 127, where as attributes controlled by DMX are transmitted at values between zero and 255 per parameter on each of the 512 channels. So the issues with lighting are extremely difficult to pin point especially quickly at a gig and especially on full universes utilizing all 512 channels on rigs with long copper runs and high fixture counts at larger venues where a universe might just be daisy chained and not setup with shielded CAT5e used on long runs from FOH to Stage or newer 4x4 networks via CAT5e or other high speed data transfer protocols with plenty of bandwidth and now often utilizing DMX Splitters. Distance, DMX Cables, Connectors, Terminators and Adapters are the most important pieces of building a robust trustworthy system that will simplify your steps when troubleshooting and is often is simpler and less expensive than you might think. Believe me I know, even when everything is properly cabled with good fixtures addressed properly and each chain terminated there’s that one light in the middle that isn’t powered correctly with the rest of the chain or has 1 connection inside that got crap in it during the last few outdoor shows and now has some corrosion within that you cannot see will ruin your whole day is just part of the world of professional event production and stage lighting. So eliminate as much of that stuff as you can. Know what you absolutely need to do a show and what are sprinkles on top. Then be sure every connection is perfect every chance you get and then you can avoid a problem many times by getting THIS and it’s counterpart from a trusted and known pro lighting BRAND like ADJ. Chauvet, Neutrik connectors, etc… a cheap knock-off or a DIY adapter that was soldered even just a hair off can totally affect the flickering of just one RGB LED Par light that is patched 27 fixtures down the line because of your adapter and you will tear everything apart to test and clean each connection just to find out there’s a lot to what you are using to go from 3 pin DMX to 5 or from 5 to 3. This unfortunately is usually necessary somewhere in your rig’s chain of fixtures since 5 pin and 3 pin DMX connectors are both used as standards for DMX. I got the 2 pack Chauvet 5 pin Male to 3 Pin Female DMX Adapter for the [Elation (Magmatic Atmospheric Effects) Magma Prime Hazer in the picture included. I needed the partner to this ADJ 5PM3PFM adapter but going opposite direction and couldn’t find one from ADJ. I wanted the 5 channel hazer in my 2nd universe and where I needed to drop the DMX out and then the return to the DMX in on my next fixture was between one of my crowd blinders on a Chauvet DMX 4-channel dimmer pack with only 3 pin DMX to my floor package and back up in 3 pin. The drop is 30-40 feet down from the blinder to the 5 pin DMX Input on the hazer and then the 1st fixture in my floor package, which is an ADJ Inno Color Beam Z7 (also 3 pin only). So when I put the hazer in DMX it has to go 3PFM5PM DMX In and then this 3PM5PFM to the floor package and it works flawlessly doing it this way even on an extremely complex rig with more fixture types than my 1st universe. Since it’s a sturdy but short cable style adapter it helps keep your cables tidy and safe. I think the short length of flexible cable, extra sturdy & firm connectors along with the fact that it’s made with the ADJ name on it are what make this adapter BETTER than any other ones I have used or made. GET THIS ONE!

I just bought an Elation Seven Par 7IP. The problem was that it uses 5 pin DMX. All of my cables are 3 pin DMX. This 5 pn to 3 pin converter did the trick. Inexpensive and top quality. It's another great ACCU-Cable product. You can't get better than ACCU-Cable!

Product had work pretty well, it makes my light response at same time as the other ones. Other lights are same brand same model the only difference is the five pin on this unit, this is regular manufacture, this save me time not sending back the unit and I am happy having no issues at all.
