after complete refund and replacement...the review
After getting a replacement for my defective unit, I can give a fair review of this light Top brand LED grow lights are insanely expensive. How is it possible, then, that a light like the 1000 watt King Plus sells for so much less? It must not be any good, right? Not quite. While it is true that this light canโt match the top brands, it still does surprisingly well and, considering the price, it may actually be a better value. This is great news. It means it is now possible to grow with LED light without spending a fortune. In fact, a light like this actually costs less than the equivalent HID system. In addition to a lower purchase price, it also costs less to operate, using far less power and generating far less heat. King Plus 1000 Watt Grow Light Features Uses 185 watts โ save about 50% on your electric bill over HID lights Equivalent to a 400 watt HID system โ but costs less to buy AND to operate Full spectrum light โ can be used during all stages of growth 2.5 by 2.5 foot core coverage โ nearly equivalent to 400w HID Epistar 10w double LED chips โ deeper canopy penetration than 3w or 5w chips Runs on AC85-265V โ will work in any country Rated for 50,000 hours โ 4-5 years with no bulb changes 3-year warranty โ risk-free purchase Includes light, hanging kit and power cord โ everything you need to start growing immediately. Advantages king plus 1000w par and coverageThe King Plus series of grow lights was redesigned to use two larger 5 watt Epistar chips together in a single diode. This results in what is basically a 10 watt diode. As such, the light from this fixture will penetrate more deeply into the canopy than the light from a fixture using a single 5 watt chip and much more deeply than any 3 watt chip light. The PAR value in the center at 24 inches from the canopy is 447 umol. At one foot from center, the PAR value is 313 umol. At the corners 3 feet out, it is 91 umol. The core coverage area at 24 inches is 3 by 3 feet. If you move the light back to 30 inches from the canopy, you get a PAR value of 230 umol. Moving it closer gets you 595 umol at 18 inches, 958 umol at 12 inches and 1901 umol at 6 inches. The main reason most LED makers donโt use 5 watt or double 5 watt chips is heat output. More powerful diodes naturally emit far more heat than smaller ones. In order to use them effectively, the light fixture must have an efficient cooling system that can handle the increased heat output. king plus led spectrumKing Plus uses a thickened LED board (3 mm compared to 1.6 mm for other brands) with holes in it to help heat dissipation. In addition to the vents in the board the fixture has two fans and glass form convection, all of which combines to effectively handle the heat generated by the powerful chips. In total, there are 100 of the 10w double-chips on this fixture. They are a mix of red, blue, UV and IR. The exact breakdown of the color spectrum is as follow: 71 red diodes (620-630 nm and 655-660 nm), 14 blue diodes (440-450 nm and 450-460 nm), 8 yellow diodes (605-620 nm), 5 warm white diodes (3500-4000k), 1 UV diode (380-410 nm) and 1 IR diode (730 nm). This gives you a great mix of light that is the exact spectrum plants need. It is a spectrum that will work for every stage of plant growth and the addition of IR and UV serves to boost the quality of your harvest. Natural sunlight also contains these wavelengths, but the majority of LED lights donโt All King Plus fixtures ship with a power cord (available for US, UK, EU, AU, JP) and hangers. They also come with a 3-year manufacturers warranty, so you can get your light repaired or replaced if anything goes wrong. Disadvantages The big, glaring disadvantage of this light is the false advertising. The manufacturer calls this a 1000 watt light, which implies that it is equivalent to a 1000 watt HID system, like some of the top-brand 1000 watt lights. While only the best 1000 watt LED lights are actually equivalent, this one doesnโt even come close. It is basically equivalent to a 400 watt HID light. I hate when manufacturers use misleading names for their lights, but I suppose I can understand the reasoning. So many of the lower-cost (and even many of the big brands, like Kind LED), misrepresent what their lights are actually capable of and if you donโt, people will mistakenly believe your light is not as good. If you can look past that, youโre still getting a great light, as long as you are aware of its actual capabilities. It simply is not going to replace a 1000 watt HID light or come close to the top 1000 watt LEDs on the market. It is a 400 watt equivalent light. But as a 400 watt light, itโs a good one that sells for a very good price. Summary of King Plus 1000 Watt LED Grow Light Review king plus cooling systemShould you get this light? That depends. It is not going to come close to matching a real 1000 watt LED plant light. But it costs so little that you could get many of these for the price of one top-brand light. Letโs look at an example. Say you want to light a 10 by 10 foot area. Some of the best lights on the market are the Black Dog Phytomax-2 line of lights. Their 600 watt fixture (equivalent to 1000 watts HID, because they label their lights accurately) costs $1899 and covers a 5 by 5 foot area, so youโd need 4 of them to cover 10 by 10. Total cost to light the space with Black Dog lights: 4 x 1899 = $7596 If you went with this King Plus 1000 watt horticultural light, youโd need a minimum of 9 lights to cover that area, but letโs just say 12 to be extra sure we have enough light. Each light usually sells for around $200 (though it can cost more, at times). Total cost to light the space with King lights: 12 x 200 = $2400 As you can see, although you need far more lights, you still come out way ahead in terms of expense. That said, a Black Dog light is obviously constructed better, so the chances of getting a defective light are lower. Those chances arenโt high with King Plus either, but definitely higher than Black Dog. Yes, King give you a 3 year warranty and you can return any defective fixture, but you still lose time. Whether the cost savings are worth the potential loss of time, no matter how small the chance of it actually happening, is something you will have to decide for yourself. Personally, I tend to always go with the lower cost option, especially if there is a warranty. After reviewing the Kings Plus 1000 watt LED, I can definitely recommend it and all other lights in the series. But not as a 1000 watt light. As long as we agree

Very nice light at a quite good price
Great quality, fan cools the light extremely efficiently and both the spectrum and intensity match with advertised specs (which is not exactly a common thing in Amazon unfortunately). Botanist with 20 years in professional and hobby horticulture, if weโd have had these LEDs 20 years ago they could have saved us a lot of energy and headaches. Fantastic tech, decent price, easy to use! Just make sure you have a surge protector stationed outside your tent/grow area as the cord is not the longest. I run all power/connecting cables for my lights to through the ceiling rafters in my basement so it works perfectly. The light itself attaches to the ceiling via the usual grow light attachment cables with the height being easily adjustable to raise or lower the light as needed.

Professional results at a reasonable price.
My 2nd year using the KP4000. I start and grow several varieties of seedlings. Mostly Geraniums. I have several Grow Lights from other manufacturers and like my KP4000 the best. Only suggestion I would make is to include a chart as to how high to hang the light above various seed-starts and seedlings (6in-12in-18in, etc.) so they get the preferred amount of light for each growth stage. I would recommend these lights to anyone wanting a quality effective product at a reasonable price.

Great Bang for buck
Being quite skeptical about cheap, LED lighting I bought 2 of these for supplemental lighting for my medical plants. I already have HID, UV and UVB lighting so I wanted the LEDs for many reasons. I wanted to get a more full spectrum in my room, thus reaping many benefits, also wanted an increase in yield and or resin production as well as aroma, and I wanted to see how effective the LED was compared to say HID. I was pleasantly surprised to notice a slight increase in all of these things. As others have mentioned, when they say 1200 watts, this is definitely not going to perform like even a 1000 watt HID. That being said, they cover about a solid 3x3 area (diffuse maximum efficiency for Sq. footage at 4x4 or more) and are more like a 600 watt HID equivalent in applicable use. I plugged both in on an 18hr timer and barely noticed an increase in electric. They're very quiet, durable (took a couple drops with no issues) and didn't seem to dull out. Bright enough to overpower my grow rooms red/orange glow, to a very bright blue-ish, orangish, purple. Very bright when you walk in. They don't throw much heat at all and even with the LED 4-5 inches from my plant (single plant abuse test) there were no ill effects, much like flourescent or CFL, it has to be almost touching to burn. Even in flower, I found 6" from the plant for a week, let rest and repeat gave a noticeable increase in trichome production. At this range it is reall only a single plant light but is quite powerful and penetrating. RECOMMENDATIONS: -Small indoor plants -Small Closet grow -Supplemental lighting (3x3 maximum efficiency) -Full spectrum application (4x4 or 5x5...cost effective) DO NOT buy this expecting 1 of these lights to bring 2,3 or 4 full sized plants to harvest and be happy. You will be disappointed. This is a great SUPPLEMENTAL light! Or small plants. It's maximum grow efficiency is only 3x3 or 4x4 max so if you want to cram 3-4 small SMALL plants in a tent and run it, you may be okay with a shorter veg. A slay of a deal for 100 bucks honestly! ๐

Good quality, unbeatable price.
I own an indoor vegetable and flower urban farm and I'm currently in market for good quality yet not too expensive LED lights for my second location. I was advised to check this little 1000W light and see whats possible when incorporating multitude of those lights in an indoor vegetable farm. My thoughts on this light after short couple day testing in enclosed small grow tent size 3'x3'x6': - great wattage for price - good brightness with nice light output (do not use this light without protective glasses) - very easily manageable temperature inside grow tent without overheating (no need for ac units even when a lot of those units are in operation), in my case temperature inside the tent was exactly the same as outside in the farm (75 deg. F) without any cooling equipment, fans and ducts - top of the unit has constant working temperature of 80 deg. F, temperature inside cooling fan vents was 76 deg. F, bottom of the unit where protective glass panel is located over LED diodes had constant temperature in range between 95 deg. F and 99 deg. F - temperature stayed the same after 48 hours of constant running - it has advertised full spectrum among 8 wave lengths - good penetration of 10W chips (which are in reality double 5W chips, but still not bad at all) - quiet operation, silent fans - 3 years warranty - great price (I think its the best price in the market for what it offers) Possible issues noticed in this couple day testing run: - it did not light up when i turned it on during my video review filming - I had to flip the switch off for couple seconds and flip it back on and it was working fine - I cycled it about 20 times on and off with few second delays and problem did not reappear so maybe it was a problem with my extension cord - I'll keep an eye out on that and keep you posted if anything happens again - not really an issue since it is in the seller description - the real wattage drawn from the wall socket is about 210W (more than 190W advertised). I've read somewhere that usually real wattage of led grow light should be at about 40% of LED diodes wattage (f.e. 600W LED light having real wattage draw of 250W). I'm not sure how accurate is this assumption where there are plenty examples with super fancy and expensive LED lights where much lower "true" wattage LEDs give higher lumens, lux and PAR readings than those of higher "true" wattage. Most technology behind it is the same, with often same exact LED chips in expensive and cheap LED lights. Most important for me are the spectrum, Lumins and PAR readings and these are better in this little light when compared to more expensive LED grow lights. It all comes down to the results you are getting and on those I will update you when I purchase more of these lights and put them to a real test in my indoor vegetable and flower farm. Happy Growing...

Great lights.
Upon my first use of the KingLed 1000w grow lights the first impression I had was that it may be too small to produce the amount of light that I required. However, when I turned them on I was amazed at the strength of the lights. The full spectrum feature of the lights was very useful and effective, I noticed a faster rate of growth in my Tomato plants during the flowering stage, the increase was very noticeable. The lights were very helpful in increasing the amount of light my plants received, as it was able to stay on longer because of its cooling system. My two Tomato plants were able to yield a satisfying amount, which Iโm sure can be partly attributed to these grow lights as I started using them a month before harvesting. Currently I am using two KingLed 1000w grow lights on a batch of 8 Tomato Plants. So far Iโve noticed a significant increase in the seedlings rate of growth while using vege mode, compared to when I had used a cheap 100w LED grow light, the difference is quite noticeable. Although these lights are quite effective, the sound of the fans on the lights become very present over time but it isnโt too much of an inconvenience. My experience using these lights have been for the most part positive, with 18hours on and 6 hours off light cycle and following the manufacturers recommended height from the plants to prevent burning. Even though these are very high quality lights, standard maintenance of plants is still required to have a successful growth , for example maintaining the proper humidity and proper ventilation of the grow room. On top of proper watering and nutrients, which are factors that are not dependent on the lights. But overall these are very effective grow lights and have mostly everything that you need when growing. For the price of $112 you really get everything you expect when buying a high quality grow light.

Works very well, but BE CAREFUL OF BURNING!
This review is for the 1000w version. Originally, I left a bad review because this light was killing my plants, but I learned that this light is just very powerful and should not be treated like an fluorescent. I first used the light in a 3'x3'x6' tent on some recently pruned plants about 1' tall. I put the light about 3' from the tops of the plants. They immediately turned yellow and nearly died. I was confused because they turned yellow from the bottom up, not very typical of light burn that I was used to from HPS or MH. I attributed it to a bad light design and left a negative review. I was stuck with the light so I decided to try it again. This time I was starting from seed and put the light at the very top of the grow tent. The seeds sprouted but quickly turned yellow and growth was stunted. I switched to fluorescent and the plants recovered and became very healthy. Once again, I assumed the light was bad. Not knowing what to do with the light I decided to just use it as supplemental lighting for some tropical hibiscus and a lime tree ranging 3'-4' in height, that I keep in my basement during the winter months. During the summer they get full sun and grow very quickly. Normally when I bring them inside, the plants go dormant and the light from the window just barely keeps them alive. I attached the light to the ceiling (8') which sits about 4'-5' away from the tops of the plants. Now, the growth is insane! New sprouts all over, I am getting tons of limes from the lime tree and the water usage is minimal compared to outdoors. Conclusion: I would probably try this light again in a tent but in a bigger tent. Some of the other comments were very misleading on how close you could get this light to the plants. I feel in a tent, where the sides are reflective, it is just too powerful for less mature, or stressed plants(i.e. recently pruned). I have confirmed that the light has the capability of growing plants and growing them very well, it just needs to be under the right conditions.

Good bang for your buck!!
The light is awesome. Need 6 for a 10x10 tent. good quality. Bright. Plants are super happy. And have great returns. The only thing is the cord is short. You can always have to much and tie it back but it sucks having to buy extension cords
