Will it help a post-chemo hairdo? Maybe. Is it worth a try? I think so.
This is a review that is somewhat close to my heart, more so than other items I have purchased out here. You see, two and a half years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. They told me that everything would be fine, I would just have surgery and a little radiation, and go on my way. Then the tests came back with the news I was dreading to hear, that my cancer was of a type that would require chemotherapy, and Herceptin treatment. The first thing you think of is "Am I going to die?". After that, "Will I lose my hair?" if not the number one question, it is still very high on the list for most women. Hair loss may seem like a very small thing in comparison to all the other things you have to cope with, and many a time I felt like my priorities were out of whack for concerning myself with my hair at such a time, but the reason it's so troubling is because one minute you look great and feel ok, and the next your entire self is completely transformed into someone you don't recognize. It's very shocking to see your appearance so drastically altered in a matter of weeks, and this transformation drives it home hard that you are really and truly in trouble. At other times in my life, I faked it until I could make it, spent more attention on my hair and makeup to project an image of health and well being to myself when I looked in the mirror, as I am a strong believer in the connection between PMA and the success of overcoming a life challenge of this sort, but this one... at the end of the day you are taking off your wig and washing off the eyebrows you drew on, and the image coming back to you makes it much harder to realize that one day you will feel and look much better. After a year of chemo infusions my hair started coming back, and as it started growing in more fully it came back in these beautiful ringlets. I always wanted curly hair, and enjoyed my beachy ringlets to the max last summer. It's starting to come in much straighter at the roots now though, so I have been pampering what is left of the curls. I still have to take chemo in a pill form for the next 5 to 10 years, what is known as a hormone blocker. I started taking the hormone blockers right after the worst of the infusions were over, and it has been very trying to find a hormone blocker that I could actually tolerate in the way of side effects. I've been taking them for a year or so now, and have been noticing various changes. Now that the curly part is pretty well grown out, and since I have been on the hormone blockers, I have been noticing that my hair seems to be thinning, most noticeably on top and around my forehead. The main cause of thinning in average women is hormonal, and with them tinkering with mine, it makes sense to me that the drugs I take have something to do with it. While in treatment I of course did numerous web searches to find out if there were any way to get the hair to grow back more quickly. While searching, I did find quite a few posts on cancer forums to the effect that dandruff shampoos containing Ketoconazole may help to restore one's hair after chemo. Before trying this product, I also searched for the role of caffeine in hair growth, and there are actually some studies out there about it. I find it reassuring that I can find studies on a variety of sites that suggest this formula really could offer a good benefit for hair restoration, so I am hopeful. I have been using this treatment for about a week so far, I'm still getting acquainted with it, but so far so good. My hair seems fluffier. I have always had very oily hair, and this stuff seems pretty effective for combating the oil and build up. The formula is very thick, and I start with wetting my hair down well, and kind of lathering it a bit in my hands before applying. It doesn't lather the way a drug store shampoo does, and I am still trying to work out what would be the best way to use this treatment. I'm from the tv generation that grew up being told that the way to use a shampoo is "lather, rinse, repeat", and with the notion that a shampoo must lather in order to be effective. I only lather once with this stuff, and leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing it out. I have also tried it by doing one lather with my normal shampoo, and then using the hair surge. Your mileage may vary :) I do find that it seems to leave my hair a bit dry, and use some conditioner on the ends so I can comb it out and style it more easily. It doesn't seem like I need to use very much of this at all, and my hair looks good today. I'm glad to have given it a try, it's too soon to tell if it will help my hair grow, but I do find improvement in the fullness and texture of my hair, and can't wait to see how my hair is at the end of a month of treatment :)

Can't say enough good things about this conditioner! (Use with Ultrax Caffeine shampoo for the BEST results)
I LOVE this conditioner. I first bought the Ultrax Caffeine Shampoo after a bad haircut and was so pleased with the results that I went on to complete the set with this conditioner. While I was very impressed with the shampoo for making my hair feel much stronger, I am even more impressed with the conditioner for its moisturizing results and what comes with a silkier head of hair, especially in terms of my job. I work in the front reception area of a law firm and consequently need to look very put together. However, I’ve been blessed and cursed with a very unruly, wavy set of hair that leaves shedding strands all over my black blazer. After 5 days of using the Ultrax Caffeine Conditioner, along with the shampoo, I’ve noticed much less shedding hair turning my blazer into a fur coat. Furthermore, this conditioner saves me a ton of time on styling because the essential oils basically moisturize my hair into place, meaning less frizzy fly-aways harshing my put-together appearance. Besides the strength that this conditioner brings to my hair, it also combats breakage. Because of my hair’s texture, I can’t really brush it when dry without it doubling in size. So, I much prefer combing through it in the shower. This is a problem for those of us with shedding locks however because hair is most susceptible to breakage when wet. But not with the Ultrax conditioner. The aloe and essential oils moisturize my hair so thoroughly, the comb slides right through all my pesky, unrelenting knots. More so, the conditioner is very concentrated and thick, so I don’t have to squeeze all the excess moisture from my hair, which causes further breakage, just for it to absorb in. I’ve used similar products before and have found they have a strange chemical smell, almost a burnt, plastic like odor that becomes even worse when you’re not fresh out of the shower. But the Ultrax conditioner scent is fresh and minty (which I assume is why I feel a little tingle) and lasts me throughout the day. I’m also extremely sensitive to hair products, especially thick and concentrated ones like this, but after five days of using the product (which is a lifetime of evidence with my sensitive skin,) I’ve noticed no breakouts around my hairline or any uncomfortable build-up type feeling on my skin. I really can’t say anything bad about this product and for only $50 dollars you can’t ask for anything better.

I’ve been using this shampoo since June and I’m very pleased with the results, as my hair is just starting to look a little thicker. It’s not an enormous difference, but I wasn’t expecting miracles. Yes the price is a bit outrageous! But I still haven’t finished the bottle I purchased in June as I find that one pump is enough to wash my short hair, and the bottle feels like it’s got a few weeks left to go before it runs out. At this rate using this shampoo is likely to cost me about £30 a month which I feel is worth it for better looking hair. I’ve already purchased a second bottle and will continue using this shampoo.

I have been using this for exactly one month today and the results are amazing! I've tried so many tablets and shampoo systems over a few years now to grow my hair long and nothing's worked like this. I had my hair done 2 weeks prior to using this and I have attached pictures of my rootage for the last 6 weeks to show. my hair is growing like crazy and not only that it's so silky and thick :) expensive product but worth the money to get results!

Been using the product for a month now. It did not help much with hair fall problem but it has definitely stopped my scalp flaking. Also, the talks about it NOT producing much lather is true that makes you consume the shampoo more. Overall I believe I have some improvement and would want to try another one when I finish this bottle.
