Perfect day to day walkaround longer zoom
I use this as a travel and landscape lens for longer walks when weight is a consideration. Build quality is good if not the ultimate in material quality. Focus is fast and accurate. It is, as you no doubt know, very compact and lightweight for the reach available. Normally I don't like collapsing lens designs but I only ever have it compacted when it's in my bag. It's a great match for the OM 3, the optics are fantastic, sharp from f4 to f8 across the frame, with strong colour reproduction and contrast. Close focus is pretty good. It's a, shame not to have the focus clutch and function button as I use them on other lenses. It is not a portrait, sport, indoor or birding lens - but it is a superb walkaround all rounder in conjunction with one of the pro series standard zooms. I got it for the right price, but I'd say it's overly expensive at the RRP. Buy with confidence but don't expect it to perform shallow depth of field or high speed miracles!

Fantastic clarity in a small package
What do I like, this F4 lens comes in such a small package. This OM System (previously Olympus) lens is a great all rounder, especially for travel or just wondering around. with its constant F4, I can use this in less lit conditions, in such a light package. The hood twists on and snaps into place and to take it iff you press a button on its side and twist off. The lens has no buttons on it, but does have manual focus ring, clean and minimalistic. You twist the barrel to the left to start using it, it has markings on it from 40 to 150, but in most cases you can see your distance in the view finder or back screen. It focuses really well, quite quick, it works with stacking on appropriate Olympus / OM bodies. Great for walking around as the weight is so little for such a lens and I find the clarity of its images are very good. It works well with the OM 1 MKii, with the cameras stability helping keeping hand held shots stable. Was it a worthwhile buy, yes, taking into account the deal on Amazon at the time I got it (these change regularly). The lens also works well with the digital converter built into the camera to extend its reach even further when needed, depending on light etc. The lens is also weather sealed with an appropriate body and I can say works well at minus 2C ( so far that's as cold, it has been using it). Would I recommend this lens if asked, yes I would as a lovely travel lens, which can help produce clear images. It will be used a lot during these short winter days.

This is a game changer for me!
I wasn't sure about buying this lens as I already have the 40-150mm F/2.8 pro and the 40-150mm F/4-5.6 but I was wrong! Not only is it small and light (barely noticeable change from the F/4-5.6) but it is much sharper than both my copies of the F/2.8 pro! It is great for near macro (flowers, etc.) and brings out fantastic smooth bokeh. The twist-to-extend operation feels quite natural to me. This lens is all what Micro 4/3 should be: small, light with fantastic optics.

Excellent, sharp, well built lens.
Fabulous lens! Sharp, well built, amazing quality for the price. Perfect partner for the 12-45 f4 Pro lens. I use it on an OM-5 and it’s big but not too big on the camera. Very happy with it. Excellent value in the Black Friday sale. Note: Amazon no longer participates in the OM Systems cashback promotions.

A great little lens lightweight and good quality
I use this lens more than any other. I use it for insects mostly as I can stand back and take a shot without disturbing the insect going about its business and it takes quite a good quality photo as long as there is light on the subject. As i use this as a field camera sometimes i have to use the internal flash in darker conditions or an extra light source as the lens starts from f4 aperture. I have taken off a star rating as the lock system on the lens is pretty hard to get used to and also the aperture of f4 would like to see a lower aperture lens of this size, weight and quality in the future. The internal zoom was strange to get used to at first but i see it as a good thing now I am used to it. A straightforward lens overall which is of good quality construction and picture quality

My magic lens
The lens is sharp, highly resolving, and gives good colours. Compared to my M.Zuiko 12-200mm lens, it is significantly better due to its better resolving power, which is confirmed by measurements available online. I cannot explain exactly how, but at 40mm f/4 this lens always gives slightly more beautiful photos than M.Zuiko 12-40mm at 40mm f/4, given that 12-40mm is not far behind 40-150mm in terms of resolution. Therefore, it's my magic lens. The lens is small and light, but not so bright. It is really good for landscapes and portraits. It features an internal zoom, which helps in preventing dust from getting inside -- after almost a year, I don't see any dust. At 150mm, the image quality doesn't reduce much and it becomes a long-distance macro lens.

High quality lens in a perfect form
This lens is very fiiting for the latest incarnation of the M.Zuiko PRO range of excellent quality, but in a compact size appropriate for the M4/3 format. Very much a pro lens in its specification and actual performance. Would make an ideal partner for the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-45mm f/4 PRO. One slight niggle - an annoying little button arrangement on the lens hood is quite unnesseccary, and very fiddly in use!

I have the Olympus 40-150mm f2.8 Pro lens but was finding it rather heavy when out and about for over 3 hours. I bought this f4 Pro lens, with the same focal length. It’s half the size, half the weight, and much easier and lighter to carry around. OK it doesn’t have some points, fn button, Tele-converter (which fits the f2.8), and the manual clutch. However, you can use the AF/MF switch on Live View or convert a button on the camera - I use the EM1iii. I found the auto-focus very quick, compared to some Olympus lenses, and this is the first lens produced by OM Systems. Since I bought it a couple of weeks ago, it’s become my main lens.
