I Love Mushroom Coffee! Here are my Honest Thoughts…
I recently decided to give Mud Wtr a try after seeing all the hype online. Here are my honest thoughts: 1) Taste: If you enjoy earthy, herbal flavors, you might like Mud Wtr. It has a unique taste that's unlike coffee but can be interesting for those who appreciate a more natural, chai-like experience. However, for me, the taste was too bland and earthy, almost like drinking a mix of dirt and spices. Even with sweeteners and milk, I struggled to finish a cup. It just doesn’t have that satisfying flavor profile I crave in the morning. 2) Ingredients and Dosage: They state that each serving contains 2,000mg of mushroom extract, with 500mg per strain, and they’re transparent about it, so they pass in this category. 3) Quality: This part is extremely important because it’s crucial to understand the level of quality of the mushroom extract you are paying for. Mud Wtr uses mushroom extract from mycelial biomass, which is the root-like structure of a fungus (mycelium) grown on a grain or other substrate. Unlike fruiting bodies, which are the actual mushrooms, mycelial biomass often includes the substrate it's grown on, resulting in a less potent product with lower concentrations of beneficial compounds. While each serving is 2,000mg, the level of potency is about 50-60% lower than what you get with extracts made from 100% fruiting bodies. 4) Price and Value: At nearly $49 for a relatively small canister, I expected more in terms of flavor, quality, and benefits. When compared to my other favorite, Lucid Super Coffee — which contains 2,000mg of mushrooms plus 3,000mg of nootropics (superfuel for your brain) for around the same price — you’re getting much more for your money. Mud Wtr’s effects are pretty mild, but I do still enjoy it occasionally and think it’s a decent product that will stay in my cabinet to keep functional mushrooms in my life. However, Lucid has won my heart (at least for now) because I can actually FEEL the effects. My best advice is to pay attention to the dosage and quality of mushrooms, ensure brands are completely transparent about their ingredients, and always read the label!

The Creamy Iced MUD/WTR Recipe That Made Me Love It
I am so happy with MUD/WTR, this drink has officially become a favorite. I’ll be honest: once I figured out the right way to mix it, it went from “good” to seriously enjoyable. Now it feels like a café-style treat I actually look forward to. Here’s my go-to recipe that makes it rich, smooth, and a little indulgent: My Iced MUD/WTR Recipe: ¾ cup milk, warmed 1 tablespoon MUD/WTR mushroom powder ½ tablespoon Ghirardelli salted caramel ½ tablespoon Ghirardelli chocolate ½ tablespoon raw local honey Froth everything together until well mixed. For a fun, fancy touch, squeeze a little extra chocolate and caramel around the inside of your cup. Fill the cup about ¾ full with crushed ice, pour the mushroom mixture over the ice, give it a quick froth to blend, and enjoy. The result is creamy, lightly sweet, chocolatey, and incredibly satisfying, without the jitters of coffee. If you’re on the fence about MUD/WTR, I highly recommend experimenting with how you prepare it. This recipe completely won me over. ☕✨

Taste lives up to its name, and BUGS!!!
So, I was wanting to ditch coffee. Saw this on TikTok thought I’d give it a try. After using for about a week I realized very quickly this is not for me. It tastes mostly like turmeric. The product does not stay suspended in liquid very well so you must constantly stir or you end up with “mud” at the bottom of your cup. Which for as expensive as this product is, if you just wash the remnants down the sink, then you are just wasting your money. As far as feeling a boost of energy or mind clarity I didn’t receive any of that. I’m sure there are some benefits to the ingredients used in this product just as any other herb, spice or mineral that the modern human tends to lack in their diet. But as far as being a coffee replacing beverage brace yourself for disappointment. Maybe if you mix this into a poundcake or a bread and ate that for breakfast you would be better off. IDK On another note. I did not finish the can that I bought, but I am too tight to throw the leftovers away, figuring maybe I would use it in something else. Then, as I was cleaning out my coffee station I opened the lid, which is airtight by the way, and discovered bugs that had hatched! I was quite surprised! Now, my guess would be that they are not harmful. Weevil like little buggers. I have had this happen to me in other spices before. Something in the pepper family I believe, and I am a country girl so things like this don’t bother me too bad. But my advice, if you don’t like the way this tastes toss in the trash ASAP. Because if you’re squeamish at all, this will definitely bug you out! Lol.

A lot of little annoyances for not enough reward.
I went into this with the mindset of getting off of caffeine solely so I can chase the dragon and get a stronger hit next time I drink coffee (the health "benefits" of this item seemed like a good side bonus too). Opening my package, it really does try to force the modernized "Screw the current norms; we're hip like you" spiel. Pretentious, but tolerable. Overall I appreciate the minimalist approach with their container as it doesn't eat up a lot of space. But into the fun stuff. Cracking the container open, it looks like a brown macha or protein shake powder, and it smells like Chai (funny enough, there is Chai in this). It says to use a tablespoon, but never specified a water amount (unless you bunker down and read the pamphlet), so I used the bog-standard 12oz of hot water. The frother/mixing tool is insanely helpful and probably the best thing about this so far, and the result looks like a watery hot chocolate. As for the taste... well, it's definitely an acquired one. Drinking it straight, it seems like a very glorified tea. It doesn't taste bad, but it doesn't taste great. It just sort of exists in a limbo of Mehh and Blehh. The biggest issue is the sediment that gathers at the bottom of your cup, as when you eventually go for that last gulp you end up getting a mouthful of grit. A truly displeasurable experience and one I avoided on future uses. There is some suggestions to work by this. You could use the frother tool after every sip to keep things equal, but that's a bit irksome. Alternatively, you could "double down" and add more water, but then you're just drinking hot water and sediment. It does go well with some creamers, and the starter kit even includes a sample kit for some of their in-brand creamers, sugars, and a "rest/night time" variant of the mud. I haven't tried these other bits yet, though. Overall, I'm not exactly enthused about this product, but that's not the fault of the item. It's has its uses and I do plan on trying some of the recipes in a pamphlet it came with; the smoothie actually looks enticing. But straight up as a "coffee substitute", I'd say you're probably better off drinking tea or having some vitamins. Also, do not try this in a K-cup machine. You'll just get a lump of mud in the k-cup and hot water. I will say the frother is A+ stuff. Gonna make some great omelets with that thing.

So far so good. A little pricey.
I was getting tired of the anxiousness and jitters that coffee gave me, so when i saw an advertisement for this, I thought I would try it out. The starter kit is great and has everything you'll need. The frother it comes with is awesome and works super well! However, no matter how well or how long you mix it, you will always get residue at the bottom in your last couple of sips. When it comes to the results, know that it is nothing like coffee. There is no buzz, large jolt of energy, or extra focus you get from this. While maybe a placebo, I have noticed that I feel healthier, more energized throughout the course of the day, and in a better mood overall after using this every morning for a while. Also note that the taste is not as bad as other reviews say it is. It is not anywhere near undrinkable or disgusting. I add a little bit of honey to it just to boost the taste a little. It tastes a little boring on its own, but it is definitely drinkable. I drank it straight for a few weeks, no problem. The only downside to this product is the price. I am about finished with my starter kit, and wanting to buy more, but it is $50 just a single container of powder. Around $30-$35 would be an ideal price for a container, not $50. Overall, if you are on the fence about it, give this starter kit a try. I would much rather have this product over coffee.

Increasingly and pleasantly surprised
I was skeptical at first. It was a lot of money, but I haven’t stopped using it. Now I’m on my fourth can. I add a large half tablespoon to the steamed extra creamy oat milk I use in my double shot of Koffee Kult Road Dog whole bean espresso. It’s like having a decadent chai with notes of cinnamon and spices. The product is powdery, but when mixed can have a gritty finish. As I look in the tin, I can see this becoming a subscription. This is my parting tip, have Amazon ship it in a box. My last order came in a bag and was dented, so the top didn’t fit properly. I contacted Amazon customer service and they took good care of me.

Almost Dessert-Like Flavor - Follow the Recipe Closely
The first try was horrible....because I didn't follow the recipe and tried to drink it with only water. We drink our coffee black, so I didn't think to add milk or cream to it, but it is absolutely needed. The recipe: 3/4 cup hot water, 3/4 cup (oat) milk, 1 tbsp of honey, 1 tbsp of Mudwtr, and my preference, a small shot of heavy whipped cream. Use the frother and it will taste delicious. We are really hooked on it now. If you are expecting something like Nesquik, this is not going to be your cup of "tea". The different spices really bring out an excellent flavor along with the sweetness of the honey and cacao. The health benefits are great - a coffee alternative to feel good about. Almost dessert-like. UPDATE: I have also learned over the past months that cacao loses its nutritional value at 104 degrees Fahrenheit and honey at 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Therefore, it is important to keep Mudwtr from reaching a higher temperature. It compromises the taste a bit, but in order to enjoy the full nutritional benefit, it's important to keep it at or below 95 degrees.

DOESN'T DISSOLVE
I finally bit the bullet to try it after months of seeing ads. Here's my take: Flavor: It's different.. doesn't really taste like coffee, but I actually liked the flavor. I was able to squeeze some into my husband's coffee with him just asking me what was different. I didn't really 'feel' any effects of any kind. Mixability: Aside from price point, here's where the lost me. No matter how hot the water, no matter if it's mixed with hot milk or cream, no matter if it's put in a blender, at the end of the cup is 1/2 the gooey powder. It doesn't dissolve. I literally drank from the same 2 tablespoons of product for 3 days (boiling new water each day) because I didn't want to waste it!! Half the can is just sitting in the pantry (over 2 months now), because I don't want to deal with it. Take your chances on this one...
