Truly incredible carpet cleaner!
After owning a floor cleaner for over a year, this was next on my wish list. We had a puppy and now two kittens plus 3 little boys with a new home. With lots of allergies from pet dander, you can imagine how much cleaning I do. I had another brand carpet cleaner to remove potty accidents from the pets and while at same time potty training my youngest. The carpet was quickly destroyed. To add fuel to the fire, my old carpet cleaner wasn't doing a very good job. Cleaning the dirt bucket was a pain, the vacuum would wreak with urine and leak constantly. It was a nightmare. This one my husband and I put it to a test, we used uv light to inspect the house(boy were we surprised the old cleaner didn't fully remove the stains from our previous puppy). Then we used this Tineco Carpet one pro smart carpet cleaner and we were blown away. No stains were left behind after checking with uv light. I love how easy it is to move it around the house, doesn't take a lot of energy out of me, especially after a bad accident that causes a lot of pain to move my shoulder and arm. Although, carrying it up and down the stairs my husband helps. I am a huge fan of the technology portion, how well it dries the carpet and senses when it hits 100% or 25% or 50%. There is 3 different modes, regular, max(my favorite!!) Or dry. I love the reminders when it's time to add clean water with tineco cleaner(2 cups of the solution with water) or when it's time to clean the nasty, dirty water. The dirty water became a fascinating thing for my boys to see how dirty the water is which equates to how dirty our carpet was. Not to mention my middle son and I breathe much better, my husband is raving about how nice our house smells now(thanks to Tineco solution). It's very easy to connect to Tineco application. You can adjust the volume through the app. You can also change the language to German, Spanish, French, and English if you prefer something different. It would be great to see in Russian, Ukrainian and few other languages that are a lot more common. But not a deal breaker. It also comes with a cord to clean the staircase or couches/upholstery. Super convenient, however it doesn't come with a storage bag to keep the used cord or accessories. Instead on instructions it's asking me to place it in a shipping plastic bag. Could use improvement on that part.

Avoid this one unless you're looking for a disposable appliance
Wirecutter definitely has this one wrong. We purchased this unit in January 2024 following Wirecutter's recommendation and used it three or four times to clean a single room's wall-to-wall carpet. When it worked, it did a decent job extracting dirt, pet hair (not picked up by our vacuum), and pet smells from the carpet. Not as well as a professional cleaner but good enough. If cleaned meticulously after each use, I expected it would last for a while (it’s not a Bissell Big Green Machine but I didn’t expect it to be in that level of greatness). Alas, the unit stopped working and the nightmare began. I followed the same steps as before, but the on/off switch was not working. I contacted customer service - on the phone at first but then via email (we're now well over 20 messages into this experience) - and after they determined that I had a valid warranty claim, I had to disassemble and pack the unit (note to buyers: keep original box and packing materials or you'll end up spending your own money to repack it when the inevitable warranty claim happens) and take it to a UPS location. A few weeks went by and we received the “repaired” unit. (1) the handle was so badly damaged that it needed to be replaced, and (2) even with the new handle the unit still did not work. As an aside, we were told the handle was damaged during shipping but after opening the box I couldn’t see how that was even possible given how the individual components were packed. Contacted customer service again and was asked for a video to show the malfunction (a fair request but an additional investment of time) and now… “Following our assessment of the issue with your machine, we have determined that a repair is necessary…” Please indicate your acceptance of the repair plan and we’ll send the 19 steps you need to follow to return it to us. Also, our repair facility is being upgraded so it’ll take longer. May the odds be ever in your favor. Another aside, I think the customer service function is not manned by real humans but instead is AI. It’s all scripted, AI is incrementally almost free for the company, and one of AI's main goals is to make it really hard for buyers to resolve issues in a favorable way. We’ll continue following the rules – they have our $500, we have no other option, and who knows how this saga will end; I will report back to you, my faithful review readers – but I’m preparing myself for disappointment similar in feeling to the end of my first high school romantic relationship and will no longer use Wirecutter for any recommendations over $25 (pre-tariff prices). Run, do not walk, away from this appliance unless you’re into fiscal masochism or like disposable appliances.

Nice Machine!
We only have a few carpeted rooms in our house, so it's impractical/not cost effective to have a professional carpet cleaning done. As such, I purchased this machine as a way to keep things clean ourselves. Having used Bissel cleaners in the past, I have to say I'm super impressed with this Tineco in terms of ease of use and the feedback from the machine during the process (red for dirty areas, blue when the carpet is clean). The #1 one thing that won me over, though, is the drying feature. Game changer! The worst part of cleaning your carpets is waiting around for them to dry (or getting wet socks as you tip toe across the room 😁). While the carpets weren't completely dry after using this feature, I'd say they were 75% there, which made the overall dry time significantly shorter. There are less expensive machines out there, but as with anything you get what you pay for. Happy we made the investment here.

Great and Easy to Clean
This cleaner does a great job on carpets. The soap cleans quickly and the suction is strong. Even after vacuuming thoroughly with a really good vacuum (shark apex), the tineco still pulls pet hair out of the carpet. It pulls a lot of the spray back into the dirty water tank. The heated dry mode really speeds cleaning time. The machine is easy to maneuver and, while a bit awkward to carry, is not heavy. It feels sturdy but not bulky. Cleaning the machine is my biggest complaint, but is still mostly easy with a few extra tools. The dirty water tank has a wide opening which makes rinsing leftover debris easy and helps with drying. The clean water tank has a very small opening, but is thoroughly emptied during cleaning. My recommendation is to keep cleaning until that tank is empty. The suction channel of the brush roll cover is difficult to clean. Tineco provides a brush for cleaning but nothing for this space. A large straw cleaning brush with a long handle and a flexible but sturdy head can get any leftover debris. The suction channel doesn't have any sharp corners which would be inaccessible for a straw brush.

Good!
Mixed reviews had me worried but, I do love this thing! Very easy to use, manageable weight, good suction, and does not over saturate. Bummer is that it does not heat the water for you and I go through 2 water tanks for one bedroom, master room I went through 3 tanks. I like the mild clean smell of the Tineco brand solution. Not strong and no over bubbling or build up. Fresh scent when cleaning but, did go away once carpets were dry. There is also a heat only button to help expedite drying time. I used it to try it out but since it is an extra step, I don’t normally utilize that feature. I did go back to clean the same rug again just to see how much dirt would be picked up and still got an ok amount. I can for sure see a difference after one use but, makes me wonder how efficient it is in comparison to others? I had a far less advanced system before so, this is leaps and bounds over what I had. The hand part is also very simple to use. I wasn’t overly impressed with it when using at first but, it did remove the stains from the chair I used it on. Emptying the dirty water canister is grossly satisfying so it’s definitely working to get the grime out. When it is out of water it will still be on but stop sucking to let you know and you can empty the dirty water at the same time. There is a step button that is beyond easy so, no accidental spillage of the gross water, amazing!! I did notice some 1-3 drops on the floor each time I dumped the dirty water into the toilet. Not sure where it was from but, not a deal breaker as it may have been user error and this was the only drips I saw, nothing when removing the tank. Cleaning the unit when fully done is simple. Not a ton of parts and everything is easy to get undone, wash throughly, let dry then, snap back together quickly. Overall very satisfied with the product and would recommend!

Shag area rug approved!
If you think your carpets are clean from vacuuming, you’re wrong. I have only used it once so I cannot speak to the longevity of it but it works well. I have large shag area rugs in my two living rooms. Prior to using this, they were matted and visibly dirty (cream colored rug and a dog-you do the math). My rugs look and feel brand new! The dry feature is great and in my opinion, a must! Highly recommend this carpet cleaner.

Faulty with poor customer service policies
I would not recommend this device or the customer service. I bought it because it was suppose to be top quality. I used it 3 times total. Each time I had trouble getting the display to turn on and I thought it must be user error (it wouldn’t turn on, I’d fill tank, make sure the tank was seated right, hold the power button, etc etc and suddenly it would inexplicably turn on and I wasn’t sure what I did). But finally it stopped turning on at all (the 4th time I used it). Additionally the pedal release for the dirty water tank doesn’t always work and I have to manually fiddle with it to get it to release or lovk. So, they had me buy a box and run down to UPS - pack it up and ship it back to a repair shop. (I never got reimbursed for the packing). I never received any information about what was happening, what they fixed etc. A month later it was on my doorstep. Great! I unpacked it, plugged it in, and it still doesn’t work. Same issue. Called to troubleshoot again and sent video and they asked me to ship it for repairs. I asked to have it replaced new or full refund (it was 8 months old but literally had the tags hanging from it still and four uses). Their “manager” customer service team is in China so you can’t talk to anyone with any authority to do anything other than shipping back and forth and back and forth for repairs so they could not authorize. It’s way too expensive a unit for this much hassle. Especially in advance of holidays. I can’t recommend it and wouldn’t say when it did work that it was remarkably better than other machines.

No going back!
I've never owned a carpet cleaner before, and was inspired to make this purchase by the NYTimes Wirecutter review, which assigned a top rating. I gave it its first try-out on my living room and dining room area rugs, with are very large undyed wool rugs, with medium height and high-density pile. While the rugs are regularly vacuumed, they had not been deep cleaned before. They did not appear to be dingy, but did not look as fresh as when they were new. The carpet cleaner was easy to use. I went over everything with the normal setting, and then went over it again with the dry setting to get up as much of the liquid as I could. I was really surprised at how much dirt this pulled out of rugs that really didn't appear too dirty to begin with. Frankly I wish I could un-see how dirty the water in the return reservoir was. Afterwards, the rugs looked fully refreshed - like new. They were dry to the touch in a couple of hours. While this is a lot more of a procedure than vacuuming (I had to refill the reservoir a couple of times for each rug), I definitely think it is worth doing every 6 months or so. I would give this product two thumbs up.
