Question 1

older house, have air-condition vent on the ceiling. how do you cut and re instal those vents since PVC tile is not flat?

Accepted Answer

Cutting and reinstalling air conditioning vents in an older house with PVC tiles that are not flat can be a bit challenging, but it can be done with the right tools and techniques. Here are the steps you can follow:
Turn off the air conditioning system: Before starting any work on the air conditioning vents, make sure to turn off the system to avoid any accidents.
Remove the old vent cover: To remove the old vent cover, use a flathead screwdriver to pry it off the ceiling gently. Be careful not to damage the surrounding tiles or the vent itself.
Measure the size of the new vent cover: Using a measuring tape, measure the size of the new vent cover you want to install. This will help you determine the size of the opening you need to cut in the PVC tile.
Mark the cutting area: Using a pencil or a marker, mark the area on the PVC tile where you need to make the cut. Make sure to double-check the measurements before cutting to avoid any mistakes.
Cut the opening: Using a jigsaw or a hole saw, carefully cut out the marked area on the PVC tile. Start from the center of the marked area and work your way outwards. Take your time to ensure a clean and precise cut.
Test the fit: Once you've cut the opening, test the fit of the new vent cover. If it doesn't fit properly, use a file or sandpaper to smooth the edges until the cover fits snugly.
Install the new vent cover: Once the new vent cover fits properly, insert it into the opening on the ceiling. Use screws or clips to secure it in place.
Turn on the air conditioning system: Finally, turn on the air conditioning system and check to make sure that the new vent cover is functioning properly and that there are no leaks or drafts.
Remember always to work carefully and slowly when cutting and reinstalling air conditioning vents, especially if you are dealing with PVC tiles that are not flat.

We installed this product last year as a drop in ceiling tile. I would NOT use in a kitchen as a backsplash. I believe it would melt and would be extremely difficult to clean.
