John Frieda Precision Foam Colour Dark Chocolate Brown 4BG, 1 Application

I've been using this product since I was in my 20s when I started to notice a few grays. I also just loved the color of this dye instead of my boring jet black hair. I used to be asked if my hair color was my natural hair color because it's a beautiful chocolate shade that looks natural, but has a beautiful sheen when the sun shines on it. I noticed that my hair sheds less with this product and my hair seems to be healthier and less damaged as well. I credit it to the gentleness of the foam. It also has less of a strong ammonia smell although it still does have it. I make a lot less mess with the foam too. The foam dye isn't splashed onto every random wall in the bathroom, because it foams instead of "farts dye onto your hair and walls". The biggest pro is that this is easier to use than your regular dye-at-home job because it foams and has a better coverage. There's less chance of you missing a spot with the foam. I have super thick, straight, black hair. I thought this wouldn't work with my black hair, but surprisingly it does. It's not super obvious color on my hair, but I don't want it to be. I want it to look like it could be my natural hair color. I've been dying my hair since I was a teenager and the regular dyes were a bit more work. You have to make sure you do it correctly with a regular dye otherwise you might miss a spot. I also used to have long hair so I used to need at least 2 boxes with regular dyes. This product makes it possible to use only 1 box and have my whole head colored. Now I'm 33 and I can no longer deny I have premature graying. I have to dye my hair now or I'd look 50 years beautiful. Nothing wrong with 50, I just want to enjoy my 30s as I'm supposed to. After all, we are only 30s for a few years and never again. A lot of my hair from the sides of my head is now white and I have to dye my hair about every 2 to 3 weeks to hide it from my husband who is now home 24/7 thanks to this 2020 pandemic. He swears he hasn't seen any grays in my head, but that's because Amazon has saved me a lot with having this dye on subscription for me every month. I did notice though that I have some stubborn grays that won't dye with this even when I leave it on for 45 minutes. It's definitely a new challenge, but it looks to dye most of my grays well enough. I just need to make sure I really cover every white hair with foam completely and for the full 45 minutes. So for now, this is still my go-to dye for my hair. I haven't looked "rough" yet during this pandemic, fortunately. I get my hair color done by myself. As well as my lashes (diy extensions), I also wax myself already before the pandemic, and I tried nail on glue for the very first time this year. I think some of the Chinese sellers have figured out that most of us rely on positive reviews so they've managed to fake tons of it to sell more product. So I'm starting to review products on Amazon and anywhere else online that I buy to help combat that. This is so easy to use and it actually does color the grays I have, it doesn't turn them into "highlights" that come back in two weeks. I use a shade very near my natural dark brown (Dark Chocolate Brown, 4BG--I'm the short one in the photo). The mousse is easy to apply and I like how they have you massage the color into your hair. The conditioner is nice and you get enough to last you for some time (depending on your hair's length, of course.) It's easy and you get all of the roots that way. The conditioner is nice and you get enough to last you for some time. The dye is gentle on your hair even if you use it for the maximum time and there's no odor. The color also comes off of your skin easily with just a wet washcloth, even if it's been a few minutes before you noticed that stripe on your arm just above where the gloves were. Oh, and the gloves are thick and durable, nothing like those peel-off gloves that come with the cheapie brands. I've been using this hair color brand for years and I highly recommend it.

I have been using hair dye for about 15 or so years to cover the gray so I have tried many brands. This is a good dye. I think it does a good enough job overall to use primarily for the length of my hair. I don't find that it covers the gray at the roots as well as I'd like it too though. So. when I need a root touch up, I use another product in a similar color and use this for the length as I said. It's really easy to use and the squeeze bottle and foaming action are a plus in makign the process a lot easier. Overall, I plan to keep using itand woudl recommend it.

I most recently purchased the Dark chocolate hair color and I really like it. It has more red tones than expected but all in all a great color. I've also tried natural dark brown and natural medium brown. The natural dark brown I like a lot but it is pretty dark when first colored... I prefer this color more a couple of days or a week after colored when it's a little less dark. I wasn't a fan of the natural medium brown.. it didn't seem to last as long as usual and hold its color. It turned to a copper color which I wasn't a fan of and the color seemed to fade faster than the others.

This product does not work at all! Once I rinsed my hair out, it was as if nothing was put in my hair. All I did was change some of my hair reddish while other parts remained gray! I was so disappointed and mad because I used the entire bottle. There should be a ZERO stars rating for products like this! With the name, John Frieda I was expecting the product to have a good long lasting color, but I was greatly disappointed! I will never buy this product again nor will I recommend it to anyone!

Perfect color giving just the right amount of Carmel

I have colored my hair for years, and recently started going back to my salon for color, because the color that I was using out of a box was becoming dull quickly. Well, I have not had time to go get a color, so I thought I would try this out, and I am soooooooo happy I did! This is the BEST home hair dye I have ever used! My hair is thick, and curly to the middle of my back, so I was nervous about getting one box. Well, no worries! I had quite a bit left over.... I was shocked! With the other hair dye brands I would have to use two boxes, and it was a mess. This foaming color is not messy and so easy to use. Plus, the smell is not bad at all. It is the most pleasent smelling hair dye I have ever used. And since my hair is long, color always seems to get on my shoulders, and neck. It is annoying trying to scrub the color off, but with this product it came off super easy! My color looks like I just got it done from the salon. I love this product, and will no longer need to pay $200.00 for my hair to get colored.

The dark chocolate brown color did not color all the grey hairs. Only some actually came out dark and covered, the rest were more like a very light blonde. I do like the foam though, very easy to apply without the mess.

I have very thick long hair and only need to use one box. Color always turns out how it's supposed to. Love this stuff!

This is a good formula and very straightforward to prepare. Easy application and relatively less a hassle than the classic ones. But the 100% gray hair coverage claim is a hyperbole. Would repurchase for quick easy dyeing.

It gives you darker color than it looks.
