The best recorder I ever had… 2 SD-Cards, good pre-amps, 32bit float ( this function is amazing ) great mobile and tablet app. Compatible with iOS and android. I personally use the app with apple devices and it works very smoothly without any lags… the recorder’s Menu is well designed and it’s easy to go over your device’s settings and make changes. You can have your recordings saved on both SD-Cards at the time to decrease any losses. I use the Zoom F8n pro for film sound recordings. Featured and shorts. With its 32 bit-float recording you will never record with distortions… you always have a great headroom for your waves. If you have decided to go pro on your recording devices, go for this recorder. You will love it very much

A lot of bang for the buck. I use this unit as a professional sound mixer on films, TV shows, corporate jobs, and other projects. The 32-bit float recording is a great feature. It is so affordable that I carry a backup unit with me on every job.

I was looking at this and the mix pre's. They did a really good job on this unit. I have used it on 3 short film projects so far and I have two more on the books. The only thing I either havent figured out or it might not do is to have it Jam Sync timecode. It reads and writes it very well, so I just use it as the master.

The F8N Pro is awesome. The build quality is superb, the functionality of the field recorder is exactly what I wanted. I’ve got just over twelve hours recorded on 7 XLR inputs and I am really digging it.

Lightweight and provides the features and functions needed for on the go recording. Mine since to fit in back pack and great sound quality!

Zoom make great mixers/recorders, and I generally liked this product, but with one exception. The controls were too small and too fiddly, and there were too many menus to wade through to get to key information and settings. I know that this is the unavoidable flipside of compact easily transportable gear, but on this occasion, I decided I'd prefer something with a few more controls and a few less menus to work through. But as long as you do understand the dimensions and are comfortable with the trade-off, you'll like it every bit as much as every other Zoom product out there.

Worth the price. Interface isn’t the best, but the preamps are great and having so many inputs in 32 bit is fantastic. You’ll need rechargeable batteries though. This thing chews through 8 double A batteries.

I have both the F8n Pro and the Sound Devices MixPre10II and use them both for field recording as well as voice over and live classical performances. In fact you can jam sync the two together to get 16 channels of mic inputs. Though I use both recorders, I often go for the F8n for its simplicity. I can get recording very quickly without a lot of menu diving nonsense (unlike the F6 which I bought and returned). The F8n is simple to use, sounds great and is built pretty well. I did have an issue with one channel of the headphone output cutting out. Probably a bad jack or poor solder joint somewhere in the output. Zoom warranty replaced the unit no questions and so far my replacement unit has been working flawlessly. The F8 control app can be helpful, though it is not essential.
