High quality harness
This is a really high quality harness! I love how solid everything feels, the seatbelt straps, the solid metal buckles, how easy and neat it is to fit it to my dog. I feel so much better knowing that I can take my dog in my car every day and she’s safe and protected. It’s also really great to keep her on her seat instead of potentially distracting me while I’m driving. I picked this one because it was the only one that said it had been crash tested. It’s a really great buy and I’m happy!

A little expensive, but my best friend is worth it!
I like that this harness is crash tested and rated. It was pretty easy to fit (has handy numbers on the straps to help ensure you have both sides equal). Once fitted, its easy to put on/take off. I purchased the additional seat belt extension with the clip to fasten to the rings on the back as opposed to putting the seatbelt through the handles/straps. Main reason is that my seats fold up in the back of my truck to leave her the entire floor but the seatbelts aren't as accessible so the extension just clips right into the seatbelt buckle. She can sit, stand and lay comfortably but she can't jump in front (or out of the truck too soon when we get to our destination). She can move and it doesn't seem to rub or irritate her under her arms. Definitely worth it and makes me feel she is so much safer in all our travels together.

Seems well made but maybe not the best for anxious doggies
Four stars for being easy to use, functioning as described, and it seems well-made. I can't honestly give five stars because I never got a chance to use it (so I can't say if it's durable or long lasting which, at the price point, would be a huge factor). My dog is an anxious traveler so I'd hoped this would serve dual purpose by keeping him safe and also encouraging him to sit and chill on car rides. Unfortunately, he was even more anxious from being restrained and managed to tangle himself up terribly. This isn't the fault of the product (all of the similar products I looked at have the same design and presumably wouldn't work for me for the same reason). But I wanted to write this review for anyone who was considering purchasing it for similar purposes to mine.

Quality in both the materials used and the design
Superior quality material and craftsmanship. Fitting it to my dog was super easy. It also has numerical measurements on the strap, so you can make sure all straps are equal. I have a traumatic brain injury, and I was able to do it with no problem.

Service Dog Tested + Approved
I use this car harness for my (Medical Alert + Response) Service Dog and have convinced several of my friends to get one for their service dog. Once properly fitted, it is super easy to get your dog in and out of it which is important for me because my dog wears this harness in the car and then every time we get out of the car, I to switch him into his service dog vest. I did a lot of research when choosing a car harness so allow me to save you some time and energy. Sleepy pod (the only alternative worth considering) brags about being the making the only two car harnesses approved by the Center for Pet Safety for dogs over 25 pounds. However, this harness was first introduced after the last round of testing the CPS conducted (7 years ago). I have not only watched the videos of the crash testing EZ Dog had done for this harness, I have involuntarily put this harness to the test myself on multiple occasions. The first time was when I had to slam on the brakes while going 45 mph thanks to a cat darting across a busy street in a commercial area. Despite being able to transition from seated to laying down at will, my dog didn’t move an inch when I had to slam on the brakes. The fact that I was a bit shaken after the fact seemed to be the only part of the experience my dog actually registered. The other testing was courtesy of LA freeways’ 75 to 0 mph stop-and-start rush hour traffic and a couple of drivers weaving (without using blinkers/turning signals) in and out of traffic while going 90+ mph and cutting people off. The only part of those experiences my dog seemed to register was my complaints and “choice words”. I ended up choosing this harness over the Sleepy Pod options because of the ability to customize the fit of this harness. Both this harness and the Sleepy Pod options protect your dog *when fitted properly*. Improper fit was the top complaint of reviewers of both of the sleepy pod options. If you feel that this harness does not properly fit your dog, you are probably using it incorrectly. Before you start adjusting straps, I recommend holding the chest plate up to your dog so that it is molded to his/her chest as seen in product photos and then adjust the straps to keep the chest plate in that position. A note about durability: part of what makes this harness so safe is that the adjustable straps are made of seat belt material. Seat belt material is what cars, planes, roller coasters and more use to keep people in motion safe. Should they have the will and opportunity to do so, most dogs can chew through a seatbelt, but seatbelts are still the standard for safety. It makes no sense for the makers of any car harness to compromise the safety of a harness to make it chew proof when chewing on its own harness, leash, etc. is an undesired dog behavior that is eliminated with training and in the case of puppies, maturity. When introducing your dog to this (or any) harness, create positive associations. Put the harness on your dog, do one of your dog’s favorite activities and give treats, then take it off. Drive a lap around the block with the windows down then go home and give a kong. If the only time you use a particular harness or vest is when you bring your dog to the vet, groomer, or to do something they don’t want to do, they will want nothing to do with that vest or harness and are more likely to attempt to chew themselves free. I hope this helps anyone considering a car harness. Thank you EZ Dog for being a life saver for my little life saver!

NOT SAFE--dogs can easily slip out even when fully tightened and fitted properly
I bought the harness to keep my dog safe on a long (12 hr) car trip. I do not recommend that anyone buy or use this product. I ignored all the many reviews on Amazon that already stated that dogs were slipping out of this harness while they were buckled into the car seatbelt. I read all the responses from the company that said the users must not have tightened the harness correctly. I SHOULD NOT HAVE IGNORED THOSE REVIEWS AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU. My dog has never backed out of *any* harness--so I really did not think I would have a problem. We spent considerable time measuring my dog for the correct fit and adjusted all the straps following the instructions, making sure it was tight enough, and testing it in our house and yard before using it in the car. MY DOG EASILY AND QUICKLY GOT OUT OF THIS HARNESS FOUR SEPARATE TIMES DURING OUR ONE-DAY CAR TRIP. Not only that, but the harness pulled my dog's collar off with it! There is nothing worse than driving down a highway and suddenly having a dog completely loose in the car and not even having a collar to hold on to!!!! How did this happen--despite spending considerable time making sure that the harness fit properly and was as tightly adjusted as physically possible without hurting my dog???? Easy. The harness is very stiff and the material is somewhat slippery. It is made that way on purpose as a supposed "safety feature." As a result, when the vehicle seatbelt strap is buckled through the handles, all the dog has to do is flatten itself against the harness, which is now immovable and which does not bend with the contours of the dog's body, and the harness itself becomes leverage. The dog then simply moves backwards and voila! It happened so fast we didn't even see it! As I said, this happened four times within one day of driving. My adult daughter was sitting in the back seat supervising the dog. We checked the harness each time my dog got out of it to ensure it was tight enough and properly buckled in. Shame on this company for repeatedly shaming their customers for "not using the harness properly" when they clearly did not design a safe product. The most dangerous product is one that claims to be super safe and "crash tested" but actually does not work properly in the situation in which it was designed to be used! No amount of "crash testing" can make up for not actually testing the product on real dogs in real scenarios to make sure it actually works as designed. Or--God forbid--actually listening to customer feedback and making changes to the product. Spending $125 on this product is unwise and unsafe and a waste of your money. You will be better off spending $30 on a harness clip that connects your dog's regular harness to the seatbelt buckle. Thankfully, I had thought to bring ours as a backup. That's what actually kept our dog safe on our long trip-- and on our regular trips around town before and since buying this unsafe "safety" harness. Don't buy this product. You will regret it.

Great idea, wonderful quality. Not all dogs appreciate using this product.
I loved this product, and was so excited to use it because my dog would be more safe as we traveled. My dog is an active dog and is a medium to large breed. We travel to and from other states monthly and he likes to move around in the backseat of the car. The product felt secure and sturdy. I loved the idea. However my dog started to panic when the seatbelt would lock up while the device was on him and he would be so frightened of being restrained that he would squeeze out of it. I adjusted it and made it tighter, but then when it happened again he choked himself trying to get out of it and that was scary. We had to return it, but I had hoped that it would have worked for our family pet because the idea of this item is great. I loved the designed and the quality of this item. I wish my dog had. For I feel it would be safer for him to use it.

Well made and perfect for large dogs!
I wanted to find a sturdy and well made car safety harness for our great dane. She's a little over 100 lbs with a girth measurement of approximately 33". She still has some more growing to do but I will be able to enlarge this harness a little more if needed. The straps are very secure and are easy to adjust for a custom fit. And if your dog's finished growing then you will only need to adjust it once, it doesn't loosen up so you won't have to mess with it. This is a step in harness with a strong magnetic clasp on the back that makes it super easy to open and close, which is great if you're in a hurry. The car's seat belt threads through the two handles at the back of the harness and locks in tight. She's able to sit up, lay down, and slobber on the windows, but she won't go flying into the front seat if we have to stop suddenly. There are two D rings on the back that you can attach your leash to which is great for trips in and out of the car. The handle also makes it easy to grab if I need to keep her at my side. Danes are friendly but not everyone appreciates dog slobber! This car harness is expensive,... I kept checking out less expensive harnesses but I kept coming back to this one. It's not as pretty (wish this came in pink), but it looks and feels like it will protect our dog (and us!) from injury if we got in an accident or stopped suddenly. Over the years I've bought many car seats and booster seats for my kids and grand kids, I want our fur baby to travel safely too so the cost is well worth it for us.
