Can these be used in the microwave?

Unfortunately no. I did not realize that untili bought them. I love them tho and they can go in microwave.

What size are the bowels?

Nice size...wide, but shallow. This set is cheaply made, very thin and changes colors after many washings

How well do these plates hold up when cutting meat?

They hold up great. Served many meat dishes requiring steak knives amd they look as good as the day I got them
