Seems to be a Great Air Filter
This thing does get a little noisy when on full power, but the auto setting is great. I bought it because for the price, it is rated to cover a larger area than many other purifiers I saw on Amazon. I had it on my kitchen table when I first set it up, lit a candle and almost forgot it was there... until I snuffed out the candle. This thing lit up like a Christmas tree and filtered out all the smoke. It turns on and filters out the odors every time I cook. It also is very nice when i'm getting ready in the morning. I placed it just outside my bathroom, and if I use hairspray or dry shampoo, it filters those particles out of the air instead of me breathing them. I can actually tell a real difference in my allergies since I started using this. This was delivered April 8, and it is now May 15. So I have used it for about 5 weeks. There is a button to check how much the filter has been used, and I checked it this morning: it is at 90%, so at that rate the filter may last nearly a year! I believe the filter on this can also be bought on subscribe and save, which means you can get a discount. Great deal.

Works as designed - just research health issues if using ionizer
This is working as it claims. I bought this because it also has the ionizer. I use it in my bedroom that has a bathroom attached. I typically wake with congestion headaches from swollen sinuses. I bought to try and minimize that. It hasn't minimized the headache frequency. To note, I have 2 pets and carpet in that room. I am not allergic to anything, but have non-allergic rhinitis. What I've noticed with using this now for a couple months is: 1) it's quiet when it's low. But when the next speed kicks in, it can be loud enough to be annoying especially at night. 2) mine stays on low 98% of the time. Even with windows open it has stayed low - but windows arent open much. It will kick in higher if I use any aerosol in the bathroom/bedroom. It will kick in for only a few second or maybe a minute then go back to low. So it is working and sensing the air quality. I had contractors repairing some remodeling in the bathroom and it kicked into high most of the time they were here. They were using sprays that had odors, but I didn't smell it in the house and it didn't last long smelling in the room once they stopped. 3) Ionizer - unfortunately I should have done more research on ionizers. This works as designed, but it aggravated my asthma. I found myself waking up with my chest tight and couldn't take deep breaths. Once I turned off the ionizer, I was fine. Do your research on ionizers before buying them thinking they are helping your air. Its believed they produce ozone also. Given the reaction my lungs had, I won't ever use the ionizer again. It wasn't until I specifically researched asthma & ionizers did I find that info. This products works as advertised. Just be sure you research all the possible health effects.

It truly works.
**Updated review: I've had it almost a year now, one in the living room and one in my bedroom. I'm onto a second set of filters. I'd recommend vacuuming off the outer filter once a month. After a year the filters it came with were gross. I am an air duct cleaner for a living. I took my IQair $2,000 particle counter home from work and tested it out. My particle counter reads between .3 and 30 microns in particle size. Aiming it at the output of this filter registered a 0 on the counter. Air in my house around 43,000 and air outside is around 170,000. The SilverOnix isn't an IQair beast of a machine, but it certainly works. And coming in $700 cheaper than an IQair tower filter, I'm very pleased. Attached are my particle count photos. BUT if you have ductwork in your house, buy an Aprilaire Filter - Merv 13 or 16; or if you can afford it, get an IQair Perfect 16 installed above your furnace for medical grade air filtration. If you're like me and you don't have an HVAC system in your home this is a great option on a budget. OG review: Put one in my living room and my air quality was measured at a 75 via the machines digital display. By the next morning it was down to just 25, and noticeably fresher in the room. When I cook bacon my house no longer smells like bacon all day, and if it's left on auto it ramps up any time I'm cooking or hitting my vape, so I know it's working. Loved it enough to purchase a second unit for my bedroom! Extra update 4/13/20: Finally purchased an IQ Air Health Pro Plus. These little guys don't even compare. The Health Pro Plus captures particles 100x smaller than traditional HEPA filters. Still gotta say, if you're on a budget, these little guys are better than nothing. If you've got some extra money get an IQ Air product, either a Perfect 16 for your HVAC system or a Health Pro Plus of you don't have ductwork in your home. Their products are world class. Top of the line. Stay healthy!

Whispers of Clean Air
Ah, the SilverOnyx 5 Speed Air Purifierโlike a cunning character in one of my novels, it works quietly yet insists on being noticed. From the moment I switched it on, I felt an invisible hand sweeping through the room, chasing away dust, pollen, and all those irritating little specters that haunt everyday life. Its five-speed settings are a clever touch, allowing me to choose between a gentle whisper or a determined gust, depending on the moodโor the mess. The design is sleek, almost noir in its simplicity, and it does its job with a certain panache. Yet, there is a hint of imperfection: the highest speed, though powerful, hums like a restless conscience, a subtle reminder that even the best have their quirks. Still, in the end, the SilverOnyx delivers remarkably clean air, a trustworthy companion in the theatre of domestic life. Four stars, easily earned, with just enough mystery left to intrigue.

Dog hair, dust, allergies, comparision, and noise level.....
I just received this bad boy a couple days ago, so I will hopefully remember to give an update in a couple weeks. A few years ago I found out the reason I was getting sick all the time is because I am allergic to dogs and unfortunately have two bulldog fur babies I love very much who shed A LOT and slobber more! My only option after finding out I was allergic to dogs was to hug my dogs, suck it up, and accept a life full of a stuffy nose, watery eyes, and severe sinus congestion. Not sure why it took me 4 years later, but I just recently thought to myself I wonder if an air purifier would help. So I started looking into air purifiers and I researched A TON of them for a few weeks. I didn't want to spend $300 on one, but also wanted one that worked. We have a smaller house, just barely over 1,000 square feet. It is mostly carpeted, besides the kitchen and bathroom, so the pet smell can get bad no matter how many carpet cleanings or how much vacuuming we do. The house is also EXTREMLY dusty. We just had the vents cleaned out and $450 later the dust was still just as bad. I will dust the house and within 2-3 days everything is covered in dust again. When the sun shines in I can see the particles floating around. I was debating between this one and the extra large room Honeywell purifier. It seemed like they were neck and neck for the most part with the reviews and performance, except this one is $70 cheaper. The things that I liked about this one that the Honeywell didn't offer, from what I could tell, was the UV light option and the auto option. Once I turned it on I tested out the auto setting right away. This is a setting that tells the unit to increase the level of "purifying" based on how bad the air quality is. I turned it on and lit a candle, I blew the candle out and set it next to the purifier, this thing instantly kicked into high gear and within a minute had cleaned the air and went back down to level 1. Pretty awesome. I have noticed my air quality is typically around the 13-16 level range for quality and today after I was done getting ready and spraying my crazy curly hair with hair spray I opened up the bathroom door (which is about 10 feet from the purifier currently) and the air quality got worse in the 50s, this little guy recognized it and kicked into level 2 to clean out the air. I am just amazed at how intuitive they can make a product for such an amazing price. I have noticed the musty dog smell is already getting a little better in the house and I am only on day 2. I will say, I have NOT noticed improvement on my allergy symptoms yet, but the purifier is set up in the family room and I just bring it to my bedroom at night. So in it's defense, it isn't working all day in my bedroom. You may think I am crazy being allergic to dogs and letting them sleep in my room inches from my face, but how can you say no to a squishy bulldog face? You can't. The noise level. I am an extremely light sleeper and I have to have white noise in order to sleep at all. I had a REALLY old loud air purifier that I would run just for the noise because I get too cold with a fan. On level one (which so far from the last two days and if it is set on auto the machines runs on that level 98% of the time) you cannot even tell it's on and same for level 2 and level 3 you will start to notice the noise. I actually like that level 5 is kind of loud because it helps me sleep, but to run it in the family room on level 5 don't expect to hear the TV well or have a conversation easily. I also like that there is an option to completely turn off all lights on the machine while it is running to keep the room dark while you sleep. Hope this helps! I will try to remember to review on my allergies once I buy another one just for the bedroom to run all day to make the review fair!

Best 2017 Purchase!!!
Have developed allergies in last few years, and my long-time-in-use, replaced once over years, HEPA air cleaner by another brand was only really rated for up to 200 sq. ft. and my apartment is shy of 800 and have 1 cat and dusty central air pulling moldy air from basement, so time to step things up. I shopped and compared online for quite a while and decided to take a big chance and buy two of these, so even though each of these is rated up to 600 sq. ft., I was placing one of these only in my bedroom, and after a couple hours just running them on auto, can already feel and breath a huge difference. Love all the benefits and features and the price and availability of replacement HEPA filters, was a win/win for me. Worth every dollar and may seem weird, but these were my birthday present to myself. Thanks Amazon. Edit: 24 Hours later, running both of these on Auto and waking-up to notably better air and breathing, can say this is a great air purifier. The one in bedroom sits on a nightstand next to elevated platform bed. I enjoy white noise and sleep with a fan year round, and with this on Auto, it did not bother me but I did press the Sleep function to diminish the blue light a bit. I like that all lights can be turned off as well. A lot of functionality in a pragmatic package and price. Also, they are functional art. Glad I got the black.

Great product. I can breathe freely again!
I was suffering from allergies from mold spores and pet dander that got so bad in the winter that I was on antihistamines for weeks. I would wake myself and my partner up at night itching my palette, so on top of the allergy symptoms my sleep was also suffering. I felt desperate, and was starting to dread coming home at the end of the day. I was skeptical that an air purifier could really improve things much for me, but the SilverOnyx was recommended as being very good for dealing with mold spores and other allergens, so I thought I'd give it a try. SilverOnyx shipped the item promptly after I ordered it, and it even arrived one day early, which was a very pleasant surprise. Within 12 hours of running the air purifier my allergy symptoms were gone! My house is about 500 square feet per floor, and I move it between downstairs and my bedroom daily, and most of the time leave it on auto mode which runs nice and quite at the lowest fan speed most of the time, but ramps up when it detects significant increases in airborne particulates (we also have a wood stove, and if any smoke escapes the SilverOnyx promptly jumps into action). I might buy a second one eventually just to avoid that minor inconvenience. I am so thankful for this product!

Worked great on our large home, better than expected!
You may have seen on the news in summer of 2018 about the forest fires along the west coast. That was what we were in for a couple of weeks. We had PM2.5 levels hovering between unhealthy (150-200) and very-unhealthy levels (200+) outside with inside PM2.5 levels around 120 to 140. We have a 2,380 sqft house, 1,400 of that is downstairs. While these are rated for 500sqft, a single unit downstairs was enough to keep our PM2.5 levels down to about 40 or 50 despite the area being 3x larger than recommended. They also worked quickly, with a significant drop of PM2.5 levels within an hour of being turned on. We ended up buying 2 of them (1 upstairs and 1 downstairs). The only negative was one of the units was a bit louder than the other (at all levels). But they were quiet enough for the noise to fade into the background and didn't interrupt our TV viewing or anything else. Once the PM2.5 levels outside dropped to 75'ish, the inside dropped to under 10 and it's remained at or below 5 once the smoke finally cleared out (and the rains returned!). An interesting side-effect is when we cook in the kitchen, the purifier next to the kitchen will quickly clean the air (just bought our house and recently discovered the stove-top vent simply vents back into the kitchen). Very glad we bought them. In reality, it seems the major difference between these types of devices is how quiet and quickly they work, but they should all be using a similar filter which is what actually filters the air. Would definitely recommend, I just hope we don't need them next summer.

Super sensitive
Surpasses all expectations. This purifier is so sensitive that on auto mode it will kick in if the fields outside are being sprayed, I shake a bed blanket or even if Iโm roasting a chicken for supper (downstairs). Since itโs been in action I havenโt sneezed once in the room so Iโm content that itโs doing itโs job.

Reliable seller, good product
The Order: Arrived fast and in a more than adequate package. The product was in perfect condition and well protected during transport. The Context: I live just in front of a main highway. My apartment is opened area style. I have no rugs or large carpets. I have no pets. I don't smoke. The product: This little piece of hardware does a fantastic job so far (one month or so). Very responsive to my distasteful cooking! ;-) 1- It is small and yet powerful. 2- A bit noisy at high speed, but not louder than expected. It's a fan after all! 3- It cleans the air fast and then returns to a practically silent state. 4- Very good value for the price. I agree with other reviews saying that this air purifier is not as proficient as a professional, medical grade, model with very high tech filters. It is, however, perfect for my needs. 5- The replacement filters are available here at a reasonable price. 6- It is very easy to replace / insert / remove / clean the filter. 7- I accidently kicked the poor thing twice while moving stuff and it still works fine (yeah, I know, I'm clumsy!).

Good
Bought to deal with the dust generated by my log burner. Good bit of kit. It came with a US plug but the seller soon sent me an adaptor on request.
