Julia Cameron keeps row after row of journals on the wooden bookcase in her writing room, all containing Morning Pages from more than twelve years of her life. The journals, she says, listen to her. They have been company on travels, and she is indebted to them for consolation, advice, humor, sanity. Now the bestselling author of The Artist's Way offers readers the same companion, in which we may discover ourselves, our fears and aspirations, and our life's daily flow. Readers will find privacy, a portable writing room, where our opinions are for our own eyes. Morning Pages prioritize the day, providing clarity and comfort. With an introduction and instructions on how to use this journal, by Julia Cameron, readers will uncover the history of their spirits as they move their hands across the universe of their lives. Review: Quality oversized paperback to journal each morning - I have over six of these morning pages journals. The paper stock is nice and thick. My pen's ink does not bleed over onto the opposite side. The journal is letter sized (8.5 x 11 inches) which is the perfect size, the goldylock's of journal sizes, to record my morning pages. Each page has neat lines to write in and a quote from Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way book. It is set up for 12 weeks (seven days with three pages for each day) with an introduction to each week to keep me inspired and motivated. Even though it's been several years since I read the original Artist's Way, I still believe in morning pages and this is the only journal I write them in. Review: Motivating to use. - Terrific quotes and summaries.

Think about writing early every morning
I heard out this practice and I enter my feelings and thoughts every morning. I recommend if you want to become more insightful. On my third book.

Highly recommend!
This is my second order of The Morning Pages. I processed through The Artist's Way, the companion book to The Morning Pages, beginning in April of last year and it has become a regular part of my morning routine. I plan to continue to cycle through The Artists Way, as I have made many positive advancements after going through this the first time, such as learning piano in my 50s, and becoming much more physically active. Do you need the companion Morning Pages book? No, you could use a notebook, but I find that the overviews of each week are very helpful along with the quotes. I also like the size, it compels me to write more than I would if I use the smaller notebook. If you can afford only one, buy The Artists Way book.

Get this journal if you're committed to the path
I know it might seem silly to buy an empty notebook as you go through the Artist Way but for some reason writing my morning pages came much easier to me than when I tried this before. Part of what I think helps is having the dedicated place for the start as well as helpful quotes and instuctions scattered through the journal. The price is not much more than what you would pay for a plain notebook and this makes the path seem more official and has kept me going for six weeks now straight.

Very helpful if you do Artist's way morning pages
This book is very helpful if you do the Artist's way morning pages. In fact, if you are not doing this, I'm not sure what else you would use this book for. I gave it a 4 only because the number of pages for each week were off and it was an awkward book to write in. Other than that it was great. GIVES YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT THE AUTHOR INTENDED FOR 3 PAGES OF WRITING When you do the Artist's way journaling, it states you should do 3 pages of writing per day. This book gives you a sense of what the author meant as 3 pages. By the way 3 pages this size took me not the 15-30 minutes the author implied, but more like 45 minutes to 1 hour. It could also be the morning grogginess too. I get up at 5:15AM to do these. NOT ENOUGH PAGES FOR EACH WEEK PLUS A CHECK-IN: As this book is by the same author that did the Artist way 12-week program, I am surprised that the number of pages provided did not meet the authors requirement. Per week you should have at least 21 pages and then 1-2 pages for a weekly check in. I found that I often wrote into the following week though I never wrote over 3 pages/day nor more than a 1 page per check in. 23 pages per week should be what the author provided as a minimum. BOUND-BACK MADE IT AWKWARD TO WRITE AT TIMES: This book would be better as a spiral bound book, so that you could fold back the areas you did not need. At times in the AM, it was all I could do to write much less trying to hold the book open. INSPIRATIONAL SAYINGS EACH DAY PERTAINING TO THAT WEEK WAS NICE: The author paraphrazed the Artist's way book providing page numbers as well, each day. That was nice. It often helped to get my writing jumpstarted. SUGGESTION TO THE AUTHOR: As you recommend to your readers to continue the morning pages a follow on set of books would be handy with the same type of inspirational phrases each day. Buying this book again with the unmatched set of pages and difficulty to hold open, does not appeal to me. This program is a good one and I plan to continue the morning pages. It is a very useful thinking practice.

The best investment you could make in yourself
This is the best thing ever. It pairs with the book, The Artist’s Way. An incredible book. But the book is nothing without journaling. Journaling and the artist date are the 2 big commitments you need to make to get the full effect out of the book. Anyway, I swear by this journal. I’ve already bought my second one. It really keeps you on track. High quality. Quotes from the book every page. Most importantly it keeps you on track. It’s much much easier than just buying a blank journal and writing in it. Highly recommend!

Changed my life
I am on my second book now ... on week 17 of not missing a single morning of writing 3-pages ... I like using her journal book because of the quotes on each page give you something to think about to write. Doing 3 full pages. really makes a difference, more than just a single page it takes me about 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes to write it ... I plan my sleep and my morning around doing my 3-pges each morning ... Also, reading her book that goes with this is great ... I am newly retired (6 months now) and it has really helped me to set the stage for a great retirement new chapter. 5-stars

This Book will help you to write something
This is a review I first wrote in 2001 when I was under my former name! I was sceptical about another 'how to' system of creative writing. But I am housebound & wanted something to stimulate me, inspire me and this book, together with The Artist's Way: A Course in Discovering and Recovering Your Creative Self (the instruction book to this, the Companion Volume or exercise book) has reawakened my writing voice. It is not diary writing. That is usually done at the end of a busy day - so easy to choose sleep in preference to writing. The Artist's Way: Morning Pages Journal: A Companion Volume to "the Artist's Way" are where you start the day by offloading worries, celebrating joys, pondering problems, writing a load of rubbish - or it would be to another reader but they are not going to see it so that doesn't matter. You are simply writing to yourself, for yourself. The Journal is a beautiful book in itself, but not so ornate you feel writing in it would spoil the volume. I thoroughly enjoyed using it and will continue the system in exercise books of my own choice. One day I will buy another of these as a refresher course - perhaps when I need a further boost of Julia Cameron's personal and stimulating advice. I recommend The Artist's Way: Morning Pages Journal: A Companion Volume to "the Artist's Way" as a present to your Creative Self.

Great to get for a first Journal!
It was great to learn to journal with. A great first journal when following the book. The length, the pages, the inspiration. But after I figured out the time it took to complete my morning pages I went on to purchase other journals.
