That did not work out because of the amount of wind we have. I would latch the bolt and later on in the day or the next morning, the gate was standing open. (Not good). I ordered this Gate Latch Lock which I installed above the slip bolt lock and it is great. You need to install the piece with the swivel latch first and then check to make sure the holes line up on the other piece in order to put a padlock on the latch. It is very sturdy and when installed correctly, works perfectly even without inserting a padlock in the holes that are predrilled.
