Good for metal stamping?

I don’t have direct experience with metal stamping. I use the dead blow hammer to firmly seat machining metals in the bottom of the vise on my metal machining mill. The advantage of using a dead blow hammer it that you get one firm strike without bounce. I would imagine the same would hold true for striking a metal stamp. However, the dead blow hammer is made of (some type of) plastic and your metal stamps would need to have a fairly large striking surface to avoid digging into the hammer head.

What is the head made of ? Plastic?

Plastic or polymer but it is great for what I use it for. No damage to the item your working on. That's why it is made out of a soft material.
