High quality, cozy game!
My eight-year-old son loves this game! We tried playing it when he was seven, but it was too complicated. What a difference one year has made. The components are high-quality, the board is very thoughtfully designed, and it is easy to see a lot of effort was put into designing all the various aspects of this game. I really like the nature and animal aspect of the game. The gameplay itself is quite peaceful, as each player is trying to build their own den, so there’s not cutthroat competitive play against each other. The gameplay always takes over an hour, and each player’s turn can be long with all the different steps they need to take (I noticed my son focusing on a different toy when it’s my turn.) This is a long game for a child to stay focused on, however, each time it is my son‘s turn, he has fully engaged back into the game and never loses interest in it. This is a good game for somebody that is seriously into gaming or perhaps, looking for a gateway game for their children. Both learning the game and understanding the rules take effort, unlike the simpler games of Uno and Sorry. The set up and clean up is not unbearable, but does take a little bit of time, which is well worth it to play such a pleasant game!

Easy to learn, the rulebook is well written and has fun mechanics
Beautiful game with great mechanics. I like how friendly and chill this game is! Definitely recommend! I got maple valley last Christmas and loved it so that’s how I ended up getting this one too.

An adorable game!
The product arrived in perfect condition. I read through the rulebook, and it was very easy to learn and understand the game. The game is simple, but still provides strategy as you need to decide where to place all of your die each round. My boyfriend and I played it yesterday for the first time and we really enjoyed it. It was charming, relaxing, and the artwork is beautiful. We played the short version which is 6 months / rounds and it took us about 2 hours but that’s with referencing the rule book occasionally. Overall, we really enjoyed the game and are happy it’s now a part of our collection! Update 6/30/23: we still have only played the “short version” of this game but now only takes us a little over hour to play. Still love the game!

Looks like great quality
I haven't played it yet but wow it looks soooo nice. The quality is great! The reason I took off one star is because the box was damaged with some cracking and I personally like my boxes in great condition.

Great Game
If you like "Everdell" than you'll feel right at home with this game. It's simpler and lighter than Everdell. It is NOT a 40-minute game, and this has been said by all professional reviewers. If you choose a Standard Game, expect to play 2 hours (it took us 3 hours). So you could stay solid with the 'shorter version' format. Now, it's NOT for 8-year olds. This is more for 12-year olds and up (maybe 10 y.o.). It's complex. You have to make strategic decisions. It can take a bit to understand but you'll get it after the first round, especially if you have played other Worker Placement games like Everdell. It's a hard game, and you have to be patient. Every one needs to make many decisions during their turn so for those that play slow or take a while to make their move you'll have to have patience. Component quality is solid, I would have loved the Kickstarter version but this works just good. The cardboard components are a tad small and can easily be lost. But it is a good game, highly recommend it as a worker/dice placement game. Just be prepared for a 2-3 hour sit down.

Super cozy game!
Game is a 10/10. I love the art and gameplay. This is such a a fun cozy game. I love that the solo plays the same as multiplayer, just remove a few multiplayer related cards. I also like that you can adjust the game length by adding/removing a couple of months in the seasons.

Best game. So fun
It’s like a mobile smartphone game. Not too complicated. So cute. Not competitive.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE this game! The rules were a bit complicated for me to learn at first (but those little details are what makes the game more interesting and kids had no trouble learning them!) but once you get a hang of it it’s so much fun! Kids beg us to play this all day. The tokens are so cute and well designed, too!

This game is beautifully made and well thought out. It would be perfect for a family with children 9+. The instructions are clear but the game is complicated (it needs to be complicated for all the elements to work). The two adults in our family sat down alone to play this in order to work out how to then explain it to the children. We got a bit lost at times but with repeat efforts things will come more naturally. We ended up determining that it was too complicated for the children at the moment, so we will wait a while before introducing it.

Fin
