They extend flush with the mounting surface. **Q: The total length of the desk I'm needing this for is 72" (or 6 feet). The drop leaf is only 24" (2 feet) of that. Would this fit my project?** A: I don’t know the answer. I used 4 of these supports for a 72” drop leaf. **Q: What is the thickness of the hinge? i.e. how proud is it of the inside surface of the cabinet to whichh it is mounted?** A: Don’t understand the question.
