Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway, Brendam Docks wood playset for kids 3 years and up

I enjoy this playset and have a positive view of it. It is not perfect so I will list its pros and cons. Pros: 3 ways to pick up cargo with Cranky is fun and gives the opportunity for new play. New 2022 engines stay on the track that Cranky picks up because the wheels stay in place. Wood feels sturdy and like a quality product. Arrived in a custom Fisher-Price Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway Brendam Docks cardboard box with the toy box inside neatly containing the items. New types of cargo are fun. Cranky and Bulstrode look good and fit in a layout well. Bulstrode is a lot bigger thanks to the use of plastic which lets him be lighter for little arms to play with. (con: but has more plastic to allow for the size increase). Mostly compatible with old Thomas Wooden Railway items except for the grey track piece which I will talk about in the cons. Comes with brown plastic Thomas Wood to Thomas Wooden Railway track adapters in case you made the mistake of purchasing any Thomas Wood track. Cranky is painted with daytime and nighttime sides which I think is cool but some people may not agree. The Wooden Dock Track piece has nice looking details and it has screw holes on the bottom, to hold Cranky down if you want the option of that, or if you would rather have Cranky separate from the Dock you can leave Cranky unscrewed and free to move. (4 screws are included which require a phillips screwdriver, screwdriver not included) Cons: Significant design flaw in the rope length not being long enough to pick up cargo magnetically without the claw or a helping hand. (I can not guarantee all others are like this) The use of plastic isn't the worst thing but I am warning you if an adult foot, steps on the grey plastic track piece that can be picked up, it will probably break or at the least cause damage so be careful not to do that. Also, the orange Truck/Cargo-Car is almost all plastic and I know some people don't like that but personally, it doesn't bother me. The Grey plastic track piece has bumps that catch the outside of the new bigger wheels of engines and rolling stock BUT any of the old engines or rolling stock that don't have the new bigger wheels tend to roll off the track when Cranky picks it up. Not a big problem but its worth mentioning. One last thing I feel I should mention is after seeing the rope length of Cranky isn't as long as I wanted it, I was able to unscrew and take apart Cranky (on the side opposite of the red wheel/crank lever), look inside and add some fishing line/wire to the end of the rope by tying a knot to the rope and the wheel inside then screwing Cranky back together. It took some time but if that's something that you really want to do, it is possible with just 1 phillips head screwdriver and some fishing line/wire. Overall I recommend this to anyone who is interested. A great improvement from Thomas Wood.

Wonderful addition to our growing Thomas collection. Super sturdy, easy to play with and take with you (my son has been carrying Cranky all over the house with him since he arrived 🤭) the tracks on the dock are smooooooooth and it's a lot of fun to play with. My only gripe is that Crankys claw could be stronger but my kid likes to put his motorized trains in the claw and swing them around the dock. But if the grip was too strong on the claw it'd be hard for toddlers to open and close it themselves so 5 star rating! We love cranky and are super happy with this set. Not to mention his adorable cranky little face is just the same as in the movies and shows

My 2yo got wood ikea tracks for a present a while back and he really likes them. But when we go on a play date and there is a plaatic thomas set (usually with some broken pieces), he is obsessed and won't leave. So I wanted to get him a thomas set, but I was afraid he would be confused why the plastic set wouldn't hook up to the wood. So I was happy to find this set cause he loves cranes and tow trucks right now. This set was a hit and worked with the existing ikea set. He played with it for a good hour when he got it. He does need help operating the Crane but will get it eventually. I am looking forward to getting him more Thomas sets if his interest keeps up. The only thing I wish they would change about the wood thomas line is to include the All Engines Go characters in the wood line, like they don't have Carly, Sandy, Kona, etc.

Great addition to any train set up. Barge is much large than expected and cranky is so interactive and keeps young and old busy and entertained. Nice quality and size - worth the price. Good Material is solid not cheap.

AMAZING! Had this for like a year, the wood is sturdy and Cranky looks pretty good.

This set is fun, my grandkids both like it. The four year old is better at working it, and uses the crane far more than her brother, and to lift all sorts of things on the grey hanging track that lifts and swings through the air, or the claw that grabs all sorts of small toys. The 2 year old tries now and again, but he'll grow into it. He is mainly interested in the battery trains we have and the track on the dock suits him. Most of our battery trains seem to switch from one track to the other well. Would have preferred balloon piece was plastic, just because dirt. The bright orange train car is used by the 2 year old, yet the grandmother [me], does not like the rectangle disk people or the slots to put them in in this set or the roundhouse. We much prefer little brio people that stand and can fit in the trains as our track is brio, thomas and a couple other bridges, etc from other brands on eBay. Still, I love this set, the birds, colors and the ship that fits so much cargo! Love having such a big dock, though it does seriously dwarf our thomas lighthouse, lol. Definitely happy I bought it.

Cranky the crane is my favorite crane on Thomas and Friends.
