What kind of sheath does it come with 2019?

Secure X low profile sheath is what my 1019 Outdoorsman lite has.

Can the bottom of the knife be used as a glass breaker? It looks like some metal is exposed.

Absolutely, it can be used as a glass breaker! This is full tang knife and the exposed tang end can most certainly be used to break through a pane of glass or car windshield. Please note that it is not an ideal tool to do so; tools designed to break glass usually have a sharpened tip to concentrate force and bit into the glass surface. You have more control that way. But this knife can be used to break through glass if you are willing and able to put enough "oomph" behind it. if you want to grind the exposed tang bottom end to a point or chisel end for breaking glass it might be a useful modification. Howzat?

Would this make a good tactical/ self defense knife?

The general thought is any knife you have on you at the present time that you are moderately proficient with can be considered a "good" tactical/self defense knife. Also, keep in mind a knife is essentially a tool. Putting it into the defensive role means things have gone pretty bad for you and even with proper training you will probably get you cut.That being said. I love this knife! for a $15-20 knife the fit and finish is terrific. It comes very sharp and would make a fine camp/outdoorsman's knife. The sheath is crappy, but for the price it does the job. To get back to your original question if put to the task of self-defense I'm sure it could get the job done.Good Luck and God Bless.

I was under the impression that the 4116 bladed knives were out of production. Is this old stock, or the wrong description?

I do not know if they are still in production. I bought mine years ago. It is a fine knife. I use it often at the camp and carry in my water pack.

Excellent utility knife with a great belly, used mine for food prep, skinning and wood processing. 4116 Krupp stainless is pretty tough and requires light maintenance (stropping) to keep edge sharp. The grip is very comfortable for long useage. Sheath aside this knife is well worth the money spent.

This thing is a beast. Everything an outdoor fixed blade should be and it's cheap as well. Razor sharp and extremely grippy on the handle . There is always a downside to something when it's this cheap and this useful and this item is no exception. In the case of this particular item the problem is the sheath. It fits into the sheath good and tight and the edge doesn't rub anywhere I can see the issue is the fact that so little is sticking out when properly seated that you can only get a thumb and two fingers on it to draw. Not the greatest sheath.

Great weight and balance in the hand. Shaving sharp OTB. Non-slip handle grip feels secure to hold. Love the slight blade up sweep at the tip. High polish finish looks great as well. Highly recommend as a good solid field knife at a very decent price.

Hier scheint ein Rezensent nicht wirklich verstanden zu haben, was dieses Messer ist. Es ist ein robustes, einfaches Messer, welches ordentlich einstecken kann. Natürlich ist die Scheide nicht die schönste, aber: sie funktioniert! Natürlich ist es kein Custom, aber: es funktioniert! Es trägt den Namen Cold Steel zu Recht, denn es ist hart im nehmen, günstig und sehr sehr scharf zu bekommen. Schade, das so wenig technisches Können heutzutage vorhanden ist, dass alle immer Messer erwarten, die an Werk rasierscharf sind und dies für gefühlte 10 Jahre ohne schleifen bleiben....

Excelente cuchillo. Buen acero y filo. Se siente de buena construcción y por el precio de oferta está súper. Lo único tal vez es que el mango es un poco delgado. Si eres de manos grandes quizás se un poco incómodo.
