Compost Bags

We used up the old econ bags for kitchen scraps and decided to try another brand. Came across this one online and saw many good reviews about it. The price was also very reasonable. So I placed the order on Saturday night to give it a try. The bags came Sunday afternoon, just in time as I already used the last bag from inventory. Our previous bags say they are biodegradable, but leak several times after we throw in the food scrap with some moisture into the bags, or do not take out the bags after two days - the moisture just sips through and then the bag falls apart at the bottom. You can imagine there's a mess to clean up, plus I need to double-bag the broken bag! This bag also says it's biodegradable, but I feel it's thicker than the other brand, which is a good sign. The bag can still fit our disposal bucket, but I wish it is slightly taller so it won't fall in if I put much stuff at once. When I take out the scraps after two days, there's slight moisture inside the bucket, which is similar to the situation previously, but the bag holds up very well. - 1. it did not fall apart; 2. the bottom did not get "translucent", which indicates the bag was at the brink of breaking; 3. it still held up when I stretched the top to tie up the bag. I was really impressed. Overall, I am very happy with the bags in terms of speed of their delivery and product quality of the bags, and will definitely recommend to others who want to try econ bags for kitchens. The only suggestion I may have is to have the bags folded individually inside the box, instead of in a roll. Sometimes, my hands may be full or dirty when I try to get a new bag out of the box. Having it in the roll would be less convenient than having the bags already folded individually. But this may increase the complexity in production. So I can live without it. Thank you, Primode!!

NYC started recycling organics recently and they recommended a certain brand of compostable bag that happened to be sold at my local supermarket. I bought a box of 25 bags and was not thrilled with them immediately. They disintegrated in the small bin so that they would develop a gaping hole on the side and the organics would spill out when I took the bag out of the bin. I was unhappy with them and came across the Primode bag and decided to give it a try. These bags last 3-4 days and I have not yet had any of the bags fall apart when I remove them from the bin. Another great feature is that when you open the Primode bag up it opens completely into a rectagular shape. I place a half a sheet of paper towel at the bottom to soak some of the moisture that forms, as some of the reviewers have recommended. The "other" bag that I originally bought is folded in half lengthwise and then sealed across the bottom so that the bag is pinched at the bottom when you open the bag. I think the intent is to reinforce the bottom to avoid it splitting but I think it puts stress on the sides causing them to tear. These bags were shipped quickly and are more economical to use, especially when you don't have to use a second bag like I had to do with the "other" bag. I will definitely order the Primode bags again once I finish the current box.

I tried using these bags and they fall apart in your hands as if melting. I will say they are a large bag so I do not use them very often. That being said I bought them in 2022 . I guess I never realized they could get old and just fall apart. If there is some sort of malfunction I am unaware please let me know. I have a ton of unusable bags. Thank you

Excellent product, this is my go-to for kitchen waste bin, I keep reordering these. Pretty thin, but biodegradable and a good value. My main mistake used to be putting it in regular SOLID plastic waste bin. By the time it was half full, unfortunately, the liner started to disintegrate right in the trash bin. The reason was accumulating moisture due to the solid designs of the trash bin walls, not allowing ventilation. I considered making vent holes in the trashcan walls, but then decided to try WIRE MESH bins instead. Bingo! The liners now remain intact until the bin is full, and it’s time to tie them up and take out the trash. I still try to put some dry waste in the bottom of the new liner, such as used napkins and a bunch of lint from the dryer filter. But overall the performance is great. BTW I ordered the mesh bins right here on Amazon. While one is being used, the second one is being aired on the balcony. Not that it’s really needed, because unlike with solid plastic ones (which NEEDED airing on the balcony) there is ZERO odor with these mesh bins.

I've been using these bags for a couple of years now and they're just a great, solid biodegradable bag! I can't imagine switching to another one any time soon. I use these for bagging my compostable food waste as well as other compostable items (kleenex, papertowels, paper napkins, etc.) and I find you can pack them surprisingly full and they hold up very well. I rarely ever have one leak and I do put quite a bit of liquid in them from time to time (i.e. milk that's gone bad). To be on the safe side I set the bag in something (like a countertop compost bin or a plastic grocery bag) to catch the very rare leak. I'm always amazed at how long the bags last with food in them - for us it's easily 2-3 weeks. We drop off our compostable items once a month and because of that timing, we also frequently freeze the full bags and we never have any problems. Again, we set them in something so they don't tear or rip when we take them out of the freezer. Any item that's long or spiny or sharp corners (i.e. pineapple leaves, fennel stalks, big rosemary sprigs, watermelon rinds), we definitely cut to smaller pieces because it will easily poke through the bag, but we don't feel that's a hassle. Overall an excellent product and great value for the price!

Great quality, but at these prices I hate to throw them away. Smaller size might be better for my bin.

It rips easily - not as advertised

Every other bag rips. A waste of money.
