Lock is well build but purchase used from Warehouse deal is questionable
Love the build and look of the Yale Assure Lock SL but has to return as the lock will not stay power on after the battery is installed. It will stay on for a 3 seconds then power itself off. I did managed to performed a factory reset but the issue remains the same. As the lock will not stay on long enough after power on, I am unable to perform the master code setup which basically render the smart lock useless. Besides the issue with the lock, there seems to have some quality control from Amazon Warehouse deals as Used Yale Assure Lock SL would shipped with missing August Smart module even though it is clearly mentioned in the product title and product description (Under content included).

Easy install for a standard dimension door
Confusing at first when trying to read the instructions the night before. Installation went fairly good. Just make sure you look inside the hardware box to verify everything came out of the small box. My module was stuck inside and I didn't see it. I thought the little white door sense was the module. Thinking it was an upgrade on the module for some reason. That's on me. After talking with Yale customer service, I happened to look a little deeper when he said there should be a QR code. Customer Service was great. Overall my fault and easy install if I had looked in the box. I didn't use the door sense as I couldn't get it to work and I don't think I need it anyway. The App works great.

Keyless Entry Feature Restriction Impacting Tenant Management
I appreciate the keyless entry feature; however, I was not aware—and am very dissatisfied—that access codes can only be added or removed when you are physically near the door. This limitation is a significant problem, especially when managing rotating tenants, as it prevents me from updating codes while out of the country or away from the property.

Awful experience; useless support
I bought this lock for my house when installing a new door. I figured a new door deserves a fancy new smart lock! I did some research and decided on this lock. Unfortunately this lock has been nothing but agony. The first lock I got was registered to someone else, so I could not set it up. This was irritating because I did not buy an open box, but mistakes happen. I contacted Yale support who was not able to fix this for security reasons. Fine, I guess that makes sense. You don't want an airbnb guest to take over someone's lock. I'm mildly annoyed, but I return the lock and eventually get a replacement. The second lock was easy to install and set up. I was excited to have a working smart lock with good features! It worked great... for a couple weeks. I noticed after a while it was no longer automatically unlocking when I got home. Good thing I set up a code as well! I got in with the code and was able to recalibrate the lock. Great! It must have been fixed by that, or so I thought. A few days later I arrive home to find the lock unresponsive. I cannot get it to open through the app, or with the code because the screen was not responding to touch. Using a 9v battery at the bottom also did not wake it up. Support said I had no option but to call a locksmith. They refused to pay for the locksmith that I only had to get because their lock failed. They said they would send me a replacement lock in 7-15 business days. I'm pretty irritated at this point. I pay the locksmith, get into my house and disassemble the smart lock. Then I go to the hardware store, buy two new deadbolts (one to temporarily replace the smart lock and one to replace the lock the locksmith destroyed), go home, and install them. By the time the replacement lock arrives I've had some time to cool down. I figured third time is the charm, right? I install the new lock and go to set it up in the app. The first step is to scan the qr code on the inside of the battery cover, but there is no qr code on the replacement lock. Hmm, well there is an option to put in the serial number instead, so I try that. It doesn't take the serial number.... Ok, the next option is to select the model and detect it nearby. I'm able to get that to go through fortunately. Great, were making progress! Then it tells me that this replacement, which I got directly from Yale, is registered to someone else. Are you kidding me?!? I'm done with Yale. I will never buy another product from them.

Maybe just a bad lemon
I purchased this lock from Amazon at a discounted price of $350+ (while the normal price was over $270) but it seems that it was the only "black" color (which I wanted) lock with connected by August. I planed to use this lock with our iPhones Now over to the fun part. The lock seems to be used previously hence when I completed the initial setup, it said the lock was now "Factory reset". In the course of next few days, it worked intermittenly. The connect bridge module was just about 3 feet away from the lock and no blockage or any objects in the between the two, yet it did not connect to the bridge and often just showed "not responding" in the iOS "Home" app. I have tried all of their instruction such as Reset the locks, login-logout of Home app; Remove/Add back the device Frustrated, I contacted the August support team and got a warm "welcome" at first. However, after a couple of emails, they ran me around the loop and repeated their instructions again and again. After a series of email (around 6-7 emails) of repeating the instruction, I ended up contact Amazon and returned the lock to save me time. After that, I purchased another lock (also this type but different color) and it works OK Overall, I am happy with the Yale lock connected by August But I am not happy with this particular services trouble-shooting experience. August, please take note of this to improve your help-desk services.
