Great toy!
I was hesitant to spend so much money on this fidget toy for my son. However, we have all loved playing with this! It makes the most satisfying noise when clicking together, and we’ve all had fun challenging each other to make different shapes.

Fascinating, Slightly Confusing… and Now I Want One
I bought the Shashibo Shape Shifting Box for my nephew, thinking it would be a quick distraction toy. What I didn’t expect was to spend a solid 20 minutes trying to figure it out myself while he patiently explained how it works. This thing is surprisingly addictive. It transforms into loads of different shapes, and once you get the hang of it, it’s genuinely satisfying to flip and fold into new designs. My nephew took to it quickly and now carries it around like some kind of pocket-sized puzzle wizard. The magnets feel strong and the construction is sturdy enough to survive enthusiastic hands. It’s compact, doesn’t require batteries (a huge win), and actually encourages problem-solving rather than just flashing lights and noise. That said, there is a slight learning curve. I definitely needed a moment (or several) to understand how to create the more complex shapes. There may have been some “I meant to do that” moments. Pros: ✔ Genuinely engaging and interactive ✔ Encourages creativity and problem-solving ✔ Strong magnets and solid build ✔ Compact and easy to carry ✔ No batteries required (parents rejoice) Cons: ✖ Slight learning curve at first ✖ May result in adults “borrowing” it Overall, this was a great gift choice. It kept my nephew entertained — and briefly humbled his uncle. A fun and slightly brain-twisting 4-star toy that’s much more interesting than it first appears.

Favourite most played with gift Christmas 2024
I actually watched a video that the creator of these cubes had shared online, as an autistic Mother of two autistic teens who are both very creative, very visual and constantly stimming - this was the best stim / fidget toy I've ever bought for my kids hands down. Having learned the hard way in the past, (I now buy the more expensive brand as cheap Chinese versions are far more likely to break/ fall apart) I was immediately delighted with my decision to buy the creators more expensive model - this feels solid, it's high quality, incredibly well made and will clearly be a permanent fixture in my home ! Since opening on Christmas morning, I haven't once seen my kids reach for objects that are not the safest to stim with (I can't be the only Mum of autistic teens who frequently finds hob lighters, tools and random objects wherever they are!) Their cubes have been permanently by their sides since opening and they are so relaxed, happy and clearly enjoying the sensory input that these genius toys provide! I do think these are better for older kids, teenagers and adults - I suspect younger kids would struggle with opening the cube and in creating the different shapes. For any parents considering purchasing this for your autistic child - but put off by the cost - I have spent the same on a large set of fidget spinners that were touched once then barely used again. This is the best money I've spent this Christmas and I'm tempted to buy more to keep around the house ( so my hob lighters stay at my hub)

Great fidget toy!
Great present for a 10 year old. Good quality, price was ok for a playable fidget toy. Really easy to use for various ages.

Overpriced. Fun for a very short period of time. Maybe ok for very young children.
I must admit I was very excited about this cube. I bought two of them! I believed the hype and positive reviews. I ended up given them as a present to a 6 year old child. She will start learning geometry and math soon and I thought she might benefit from these toys. The material used is kind of cardboard/paper and like other people have mentioned the longevity of these toys can’t be very long. The quality of printing and design/patterns used are ok, nothing especial or beautiful about them. Fast delivery that’s true. About the puzzles/shapes: the magnets are strong and I can understand why people love playing with them, it’s oddly satisfying. Feels good to manipulate. Level of difficulty? Well, I am honest and describe only my own experience: Low. I am average I think. But these cubes and basic shapes and more you can achieve them intuitively in less than 30 min and I am kind of exaggerating and being generous… 10-15 minutes is all you need. Return it to the original cube shape is really EASY and straight forward too. Yes you could collect them and make more shapes… but is it worthy? I am not sure, too expensive for a very limited toy. I don’t even consider these puzzles to be completely honest. I love my Rubik cubes and never get tired of them, I love some more than others of course. And I have invested in good ones too. That’s far more fun and would recommend Rubik over this cube. Trust me I was excited about the 3D cube… such a shame! EDIT: I am delighted… I can’t believe how successful these toys are among children. I will buy it again for other kids. After observing how different children play with them I can confirm the size and the materials used are more than adequate. Difficulty level is also perfect for children, this cube invites them to try and generate geometrical shapes easily, it ignites their imagination that’s for sure! They can compete with each other, they can collect them, they can learn and study the different shapes. I am really impressed. I would say kids 5-10 years old would be fascinated by these cubes and they will feel they can achieve these little goals. Not bad after all. Still these toys are very overpriced for what they are… but we all know how pricing works, once this trend/marketing starts to disappear they will have to lower the price. It’s ridiculous… as a consumer it really annoys me.

The quality is great as it is an original Shashibo product. But, it took a lot of time to come as it is an internationally imported product

Fantastic piece of engineering and design. Bought two for my girls with ADHD for Christmas and I personally couldn't put it down. Keeps them and me entertained and disconnected from screens. Already purchased another 3 to add to the others (2 for me of course!) to see what funky shapes can be made by adding up to 6 to the mix. Outstanding product.

I bought this for a grandchild for Christmas. She loves this kind of thing and I thought she would enjoy it. They are a little steep in price and I must say, I was a bit surprised when it arrived in a tiny little 2.5 x 2.5 inch box, (From the pics, I was expecting something about double that size). I wanted to be certain I was getting a decent quality item, so I removed it from the box and started messing around with it to check quality and entertainment value. Well, we are now 3 days closer to Christmas since it arrived and I am no closer to getting back into that 2.5 x 2.5 box it came in. It is ridiculous how many times I have tried to fold it back into a tiny little square! To be honest, I simply feel frustrated with the whole damn thing. I even had ideations of tearing it apart and gluing it back together. (Then I remembered what I paid and I thought better of it.) The quality certainly seems decent. I am basing that on the fact that it didn't come apart yet and I think I have folded it every which way to Sunday. On the upside, my granddaughter is probably going to love it! She is just 9 yrs old, but will probably get it back in the box in 5 minutes!! So, I guess what I am reluctantly saying, is that I think the entertainment value is there. I still have 20 days to get some help (probably from a kid!) with getting this back in the box it came in. Otherwise, I will find a new box to wrap it in and keep the old box - so I can show the granddaughter how it looked when I got it. It is a little embarrassing that I have found this to be so difficult. But, I am trying to be transparent here and forewarn you that UNLESS you have some help from a genius (ok maybe exaggerating there), DO NOT take it out of the box to try it out if it is a gift for someone else! If they weren't so darn expensive, I would have simply just ordered another one and kept this one for my dumb self. 😜 EDIT: 01/24/23 - I did order a second one for myself (and company) Mind you, I did not even get it out until several days after Christmas. Today is the 24th of January and so we maybe had it opened 3 weeks. It has been played with quite a bit by kids and adults alike, however it is tearing apart at one of the seams. So, frankly we are a bit disappointed for spending $20 on something we thought we would enjoy a bit longer. After only 3 weeks, it is clear this one is not going to last much longer. I guess on the upside, $20 is really pretty cheap entertainment these days, when you consider the cost of going to a movie or bowling, eating out or any other activity. We probably did get at least $20 worth of entertainment, but still. 😢
